Realms Beyond is running a training game where a few of us run through the same game/turns and then are critiqued by a few veterans. It's good stuff for anybody looking to improve. http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=81561 http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=81564

Gotta love transports!
Just give me the option of mass genocide and we won't have this old morale problem to worry about. As to the Unresolved, all that's going to do is make me bring a few extra transports to make sure the matter is...resolved. ;)
Just go to Yahoo games. You can find it there. It's also at www.popcap.com.
Yeah, do not buy them, build them from your starting planet. Buying them puts you in the red too early, esepcially when building them only takes a few turns.
I find it interesting that there are nations out there that TRULY believe if they keep their hands clean, the threat will go away. You are either for them, or against them. Ther'es no neutral ground here. The enemy may have a pecking order, but seriously, if they have an opportunity to take out 'the enemy' with minimal casualties, you think they'll wait? I don't think so. Spain. 1200 soldiers in Iraq (if I'm not mistaken). And they were targeted
As an aside, the Fundamentalists DO affect the AI as well. Last game I played, evil was dominating the galaxy. Fundamentalists came along and took half the worlds of all 3 evil empires (myself included) which proceded to make them the most powerful AI. I made a comeback, but it was tough. I tell you what though, I did not allow the Fundamentalists peace until I had all my worlds back. ;)
Ah...so that's what that's button for. Thanks for the lesson. Learn something new every day!
How do you scrap ships. I was in a situation last night where I had a good number of dreadnaughts running around. There were rangers and avengers being built, but I had enough dreadnaughts to make a difference. Everyone was just about even militarily, but like Druid, needed to scrap my ships. How do you do it?
UT2k4. This is going to be one hell of a game. The GTA series is fun, but I've generally waited to the price drops before I picked those up. (just finished up GTA:VC). I won't preorder though, I find places like Best Buy always drop the price $10-15 dollars for most games the week it's released which drops it down to your ~$40 or the price you pay through pre-ordering. But there's generally no waiting for me.
Welcome aboard G-force! Whooho! C'mon people, another two people and we're ready to roll!
"Bam: All significant updates from this point on will be in Altarian Prophecy updates. So GalCiv 1.2x is the end of the line for base GalCiv." Do these significant updates include potential changes to the AI or rather changes to other features: starbases, tech tree, metaverse, etc. I know some people are basing their decision on purchasing AP based on an improved AI.
I ran distance all through high school and college. Before kids, I even managed to work my way through a marathon. But every year after the final race or competition, I'd take some time off. Eventually, I'd have to start training again. The first day? Not a problem, second day? Not too bad either, the rest of the week? Hell. If you keep it up on a day to day basis, you'll find that you don't even hit the REAL tired period until two weeks into i
If you watch though, the AI generally abandons these colonies shortly thereafter.
Man, I'm really unlucky then. I've seen the individual planet event, but never the sector PQ events. That's good stuff!
And so we arrive at the impasse over the original question. Race A&B allied. You make peace with A, but B is too powerful, you remain at war. Next turn, Race A returns to war with you. Is this wrong? I say no it is not. I think Race A was just as intimidated at B as Humane was.
But even so, you can have peace, and the people demand that you go back to aid your ally in war. What do you do? You can 1)go back to war, or 2)break the alliance. How many times have you broken an alliance? I thought so.
I'm glad I decided to check the boards today. I was wondering what I was doing wrong. It seemed that no matter what I did, I'd lose EVERY single trade good. Not just one or two, but all of them! Seems like the problem is widespread. Good. Miserly likes company. :p
I see this as smart AI thinking. You want to make peace with me? Sure thing. It'll cost you xyz. What Mr. Ally? You'll break your alliance if I don't get back to work and go to war? Sure thing Mr. Ally. :)
Ok, I am far from an expert, just spitting out what people have told me, and what I've verified through playing. With spending, Matthew is correct. Take research for example. Research is set to 100% and you can still make a profit. Now you build a TON of new labs. Your ability to research has increased dramatically. So when you go back to research 100%, that 100% now encompasses a larger research production than it did before building labs. This will be the same case for military,
Altarian Cream Boogers. Listed in Google. Oh, that was too much. Thanks for the laugh Brad. And keep up the good work. :)
Some of the veterans played a succession game where players pass the game from person to person. Although it's at a high difficulty level, they describe the game in really good detail. You should get an idea of how the game works from here. http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=72311
As for allying goes, it's really a matter of degree. For instance, if you are bad, and the AI is bad, then they are more likely to ally with you (simiarl morality). However, the good civs will have a less than ideal view of you. If you remain neutral all game, the neutral allies will view you the best, but you could still have decent relations with the other civs as well. It might be tough to get any of the civs to ally with you, but they'll be less likely to attack you based on morality alon
Ask, and you shall receive. Tech tree costs available for all map sizes as separate tabs on the worksheet. Enjoy!
No, Dave meant you actually DO get more money spread out over several months than a lump sum one time payment. Yes, if you get 100 for 1 month, you actually get 2 payments. So a 100/10 deal will get you 100cr/turn for 11 turns. As far as the starting slow, you really won't have a choice. The max amount you can get (determined by whether or not the neg. screen is green/red) will go up as you get more expensive techs/ships/etc. Payments will show up on your economics tab under
