In my games of playing Gal Civ, I've found myself bouncing around the tech tree with no real knowledge of what I was doing or the consequences of researching/not researching certain techs. I also found myself at a disadvantage in trying to figure out whether or not certain trades were equitable or missing key trade goods not knowing the pre-requisite tech. Having finally had enough, I spent some time putting together the tech tree in MS Excel using Javascouts copy of the tech tree.

Aviator, I don't believe they've finsihed the first round, so check out the thread at http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=79691 and you should be able to sign up there. :)
Try this. I saved it as a .wks file (I believe this is MS works?) Link here: http://www.kingwoodcable.com/brackard/games/galcivtech.wks
Yeah, it was really ticking me off not having tech prices (relative) in front of me for trade purposes. And I never remembered which techs led to trade goods, etc, etc. So I took about eight hours or so over a weekend and put this thing together. Maybe it will help some others as much as it did me. ;)
For the tech tree, I actually recreated Javascout's tech tree in Excel that also included the price of the tech, which ones included trade goods, wonders, and a few other things. Since it's not a .pdf you can do anything you want to it. You can find it at: http://www.kingwoodcable.com/brackard/games/galcivtech.xls Edit: getting the link to work [Message Edited]
My wife worked until we had kids. We both agreed that she'd stay home with them when the time came. She loves it. To say it isn't a real job is foolish. We are making more money with her staying home with the kids than if she went back to work teaching. After taking into account childcare, we would be making a few thousand more dollars a year. Is it worth a few thousand dollars to have my wife stay home with the kids? Damn right it is.
Ok, after actually READING the linked article, I don't necessarily agree with everything Slate says. For instance, Slate mentions that Trump totally disregards the woman advisor. To be fair, he ignores her just as much as he ingores the male advisor. There is no doubt the woman have the advantage in terms of using thier sexuality and it has hurt the men's chances. It will be interesting to see exactly how Trump will set up trials in the future that minimize the impact of sexuality.
It's interesting you say this for not seeing the show. The women have already been 'chastised' once for using their sexuality to win the contests. Trump basically said you can't run a company on sex.
Although not as serious as this, I don't think my kids ever STOP having colds.
That's an interesting question. hat does it do to some societal values such as marriage. Now since you can live to be '40' for the next 60 years, does divorce become more common even to the point of being a contract? (Yes, we have 20 years left on our 40 year marriage contract) How about the workplace? Do people work 40 or 50 years, take 30 years off, then get back in the workpalce again for another 50 or 60 years? How about kids? Realistically, kids will still m
My mother in law thought her cat had a really bad cold when she pet it. He had this terrible 'congestion'. It was the cat purring. I don't know how many cat's had adopted her before this one. There are pepole out there...
Muggaz, this is just so totally random. I can easily see this being a drunken debate. I love it. I don't see the pirates as having a chance unless the ninjas get seasick? Hmm.....
I'm with unique. I though the title was about some discussion regarding how fanatics don't have to play by the rules of civilized society, and how Morality is our Handicap. LOL It's probably better off the it was something totally differnt. Guess it has something to do with your expectations.
I want to say that Frogboy once said that late game minors were nothing more than a free planet to whomever got there first. So AIL, you are correct. That's exactly what they are.
I applaud the parents for getting him a G5. Since PC software tends to have entertianment available, the parent's wanted a powerful machine that would give the kid something productive. It is also understandable that the kid ripped it out most likely for entertainment purposes. However, I'm with you. I hope he's beaten when his parents find out. ;)
Had Halo come out on the PC first (and on schedule), I believe Halo would have taken the cake. As it was, I played it on the X-box. In my opionion, the entire experience was ruined by this fact. Shooters were just not meant to be played with a controller. (Like you said) You just don't have the control you really need to play these games on the console. I still enjoyed the game, but not as much as I enjoyed Half Life. (For instance, I really wished I had the control I needed while explorin
I was thinking about this a bit more on the way home last night, and it mirrors a bit of what Tytan just said. Like Tytan, I think it really depends on who you're marketing this to. For instance, if you're marketing this to new players, the $19.95 for the expansion pack + $29.99 for the game (what you can get it for from Best Buy for example) is the same price as a typical brand new game. ($50). By pushing the expansion higher, you've entered the $50+ taboo territory. However, if you're loo
The way I look at it: You are going to have your hard core group who is going to pay the price no matter what it is, the group that is not going to purchase it at all, and those of us who are undecided. For me, at $19.95, it's a no-brainer. Go pick it up. I don't even think about it (and was pleasantly surprised when the price was listed). At $24.95, I'm going to pause, but probably pick it up. At $29.95, I'm passing (short term). Yes, I'll probably get the itch and pick it up.....eventua
I believe it's actually Soul Calibur 2 Brad. I like just about any genre, buttend to stick towards PC shooters and RPG's. I shy away from adventure games for the most part. I'll go with the majority as far as best shooter to date (Half Life) but I can't say I've played Dues Ex which many will claim to be the best. Favorite board game? Ever played a board game called Minion Hunters? It's based on the RPG called Dark Conspiracy I believe. It's basically a team based game w
As far as the RPG's go, I have to say the interesting games really started coming out when I had less and less time to play them. Haven't played a pencil & paper RPG for years, though not out of lack of interest. I keep up best I can and even purchased the most recent versions of the WoC D&D manuals just to see what had changed. (quite a bit from the last time I'd played) As far as fighters go, I wouldn't actually call ANY fighting game one of the best games ever. (even if it is Sou
I've been following MOO3 for about a year, and Galciv since the first time I'd really heard about it (six to nine months maybe?). And after having played MOO3 and from what I've seen of Galciv, I know the games are two totally different animals. The first thing I think happens when people don't get what they expect is they hit the message boards. I think a lot of people are turned off by MOO3 simply because other people are turned off by MOO3. Half of the complaints would not even be
