A little disappointed because I convinced myself it would be around the 13th. I think the dates on that journal page were ninja edited at some point because originally it was the 6th and 13th, now it's the 13th and 20th. The history does not indicate when that change was made. Anyway, I'm also happy to wait another week. Maybe they'll be able to get in some cool feature this next week that we would have otherwise missed.

On the other hand if they released without AMD drivers, that lights a little fire under AMD to get the drivers out.
Also there is an Elite Founders program, which also gets you all future DLC and expansions. Good if you know you will want to play the game long term. Founders can upgrade to Elite later, but only until the Early Access deadline. You cannot purchase founders or elite founders after the game goes to Early Access, which they initially said may happen as early as late summer.
Despite that option to run in DirectX 12 from steam, the DX12 version has not been released to founders yet. It should be soon, but not yet.
I would love an update, even if it is to say "not today".
I'm personally okay with 4 max human players, as long as we can have (eventually) 4v4 vs the AI. If the devs' vision pans out, our systems are going to have trouble running more. Maybe in a few years they can expand as computers get faster, but I don't think it should be a high priority now.
That is not at all my problem with the UP. The problem with the UP is in your first phrase "it's the overseeing body of the galaxy". If my allies and I do not see it that way, or we do not like the rules set by the UP, my allies and I will form a different UP and govern that way. The only reason the UN is legitimate is because the member nations say it is and they have the economic and military power to back up their policies. Non-member nations may not recognize its legitimacy as the "ov
My executable hasn't updated since July 11th, but I assume it is the latest version. The main screen says "Version 0.2.10754"
Right now they have released one version of the game (plus some minor patches). They considered it "pre-alpha". It is a couple months old. On my system it is quite stable and runs smooth. The next founder release is supposed to come out either late this week or next week (they said no earlier than August 13th). Their timeline had them moving to Early Access in late summer, which it is. Once they release Early Access, you will not be able to become a founder or an elite founder. <
Well they're changing it up come next patch/release, so let's see what they come up with.
Front Line Issues: Front lines work in real war because if you were to try to just go through it, you'd have devastating casualties. You need to make that happen. It seems to me you could benefit from a kind of "mine field" mechanic, though not permanent in the conventional sense. The main purpose of a mine field isn't actually to blow things up, which of course it does, it is meant to force the enemy to take a different route, or slow them down, WAY down. You have to sweep fo
Not sure if this is what you mean by setup options, but different game speed options would be logical possibilities. Game speed: how fast everything happens per unit of time. What we see is the alpha could be normal. Slow everything down (units, building speed, resource accumulation speed, battles) 0.5x or speed everything up to 1.5 to 2x. In single player you might have hockey's to allow players to speed up or slow eown the game, but it doesn't make as much sense in mu
I predict by December of this year scientists will conclusively prove 2015 was the hottest year on record. Anyone want to take a counter bet?
Love it! Glad I became an elite founder. :wipes drool off keyboard:

Awesome, can't wait! So wait, the AI is already strong enough to beat you consistently without cheats? That is impressive. 1. Are you envisioning "additional resources" to be buffs/abilities that you get as long as you control the area, or buffs/abilities that you need to recapture from time to time MOBA-style? I kinda think both might be cool. 2. In the current alpha you can click a T2 or T3 unit and request additional subordinate units. That is a ridiculously awe
Logistics provides: - encouragement to expand (need more power to make more logistics buildings to make more units). Redundant because we already want to expand to get more resources and prevent an enemy computronium victory. - dictates the pace of the game (unit counts go up as the game progresses). Redundant because limited resource gathering prevents us from making too many units too fast. - provides a platform to balance factions and units (sometimes it's easie
To make the game feel more like a war and less like an ever-escalating battle, you need to entice players, force them really, to play the game like they are conducting a war. I recommend watching "WWII From Space" on Netflix, a documentary that does a great job of giving a high-level war-scale picture of WWII once the U.S. got involved. 1. Strategic objectives. This isn't just about gaining access to more resources so you can build more units. Defensive outposts to control choke p

For what it's worth, there is a wide gap between someone who uses the global production wheel only, and someone who eeks out every single 10th of a point of production. I fall somewhere in that range, where I will make some planets generic under the global wheel, and many planets specialized but not to a silly degree. On a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is global wheel and 10 is eek out every point, I am at about a 7. Some examples: All planets have at least one or two factories to mak
Confirmed, that is exactly how it works, thanks for the info. So I guess this isn't a bug then, just another example of the game needing more polish during this beta phase.
