I request you please consider giving Elite Founders two or three keys. I have two close friends who are interested who are not yet financially prepared to buy the game. I will be installing Win 10 ASAP so I can give DX12 a ride. I noticed no slowdowns under DX11 in Win8, so I'm curious about the benchmarking. I can't wait!

Well I agree it's not necessary. There is a degree of challenge and fun in trying to be the ultimate civilization manager. The game allows one to do it, so as long as that is the case the devs should make that as painless as they can. The speed bump to being a great civ manager should not be tedium or UI, it should be knowlegde and skill.
not seeing the micromanagement issue.
Then you are playing the game vastly differently than I am. Specializing most or all planets and trying to approach max production means you need to change your allocations any time you research a building upgrade, then back after the upgrades complete, which happens on different turns for different planets. Same when you want to rush ships, research, or wealth. Task

Starkers, I'm not so sure there are an increasing number of skeptics, aside from vocal people on forums and Facebook. I challenge you to ask 10 random people "how much has the Earth warmed in the last decade", and you will get answers ranging from 5 to 20 degrees F. For one, our schools are shoving it down childrens' throats, and the average parent isn't engaged enough to correct their knowledge. Two, news media, entertainment, and politicians are shoving it down our throats, neve

Here is the best way to stump global warming alarmists: Don't deny their claims, have them answer two questions: So what? What now? Either they have no answer, or they believe in some socialist redistribution of wealth plan. Either way, you win.

Request: more dynamic unit movement in battles, like in Sins. Maybe that's a battle group AI thing. Right now blobs just circle each other, and the units in the rear of the blob can't reach any targets. Request: engineers do more. Request: T3 units can request T2 units. T2 units in a T3 battle group can request T1 units. Maybe T3 units can request T1 units, and maybe such units are auto-assigned to subordinate T2 units? Request: T3 defensive buildings, that are
So, is it too late to upgrade to the lifetime edition.
No kidding, I'm kinda wondering if those who don't get Founder lifetime are going to end up shelling out hundreds extra! My plan has been to upgrade once I'm sure this is a game I'll be playing and pushing my friends to play. The ability to upgrade ends once the game goes Early Access, so it will be prudent for me to keep an eye out for clues when this will happ

Well sorry to have stirred you up. When people post repeat content it usually means they are not up to speed on what has already been discussed on the forums...ad nauseam. Your credentials definitely add weight to what has already been said elsewhere by others. Perhaps the devs will see it that way too and take your concerns under stronger consideration.

LingWhisperer, sorry but you are not saying anything new here. The devs fully understand this perspective, probably agree with most of it, and are continually brainstorming ideas for addressing it. IMHO we should wait patiently to see what they come up with.
I think it might be a good idea to have some irreconcilable philosophical difference between the factions and construct the faction's lore/identity around that fact. One possibility is that one side wants to convert the entire universe into ideal compute material, or transmute all the matter in the universe into Minds, and the other side does not.
If I am reading the lore correctly, the philosophical difference is between Post-Humans and Haalee. Po

Playing off the fact that the Substrate are the progeny of the Strong AI: Substrate Descendency (or Ascendancy) Substrate Progeny As for Computronium, you'll probably want a computation-related term folks can relate to: Matrixium Algorithium Optimizium Entropium (as in Entropy) Neumannium (as in Von Neumann, the name behind modern computer architecture) The -ium suffix is usually applied to elemental metals, not neces
you haven't been around enough. Alot of these things already exist in other games. it's these kinds of mentalities that keep game standards very low for modern games. free your mind and you can free us all from this curse. Because AotS is going for more of a Sins feel, I think the unit speed is appropriate. What we've seen so far is 1v1. Think about how such a game would play out in Sins. You'd each spend a lot of time building up your nearby planets and asteroids, all the while fighting pirates, in preparation for the oncoming war. The whole game could still last hours! Now consider a game in AotS with 8 total FFA opponents. Your nearest one is going to probably be no more than a few sectors aw

Kinda funny, and easily attributable to this being alpha, if you tilt the camera so your point of view passes through a mountain, you can see the whole map!

I play the game in full screen at 1920x1080. My native resolution is 3840x2160, and my card isn't good enough to support the game at that resolution in windowed mode. When I Alt-Tab, which is something I like to do when I'm formulating a forum topic to offer feedback, the game glitches. It switches to windowed mode, which is fine because Alt-Enter re-enters full screen. However thereafter my mouse is not responsive in game, so really it's still glitched. Obviously you guys

#2, tiers are relevant for Battle groups, a key design element. It is necessarily to be very specific about which units are command units, and tiers denote that quite clearly. #3, you cannot turtle in your base and win by Victory Points, can you? You'd easily lose the Computronium nodes. No comment on the rest.

Some thoughts... The unit frames on the left provide a quick way to assign battle groups. This is far superior to trying to move them all into a single blob and hitting Z. I also have been trying to decipher the unusual movement you get in groups of units. Many times in a fight units will hang back out of range until you explicitly attack a unit. So far I've found attack-move (Ctrl-right click) to be decent, but frequent click orders are needed as the battle shifts locatio

I just now remembered two more tricks worth mentioning. 1. If you have a big blog of units of various tiers, some in battle groups some not, select them all, then right click a T2 or T3 unit with open slots. Those units not currently in a battle group will be placed into one, and the rest will be left alone. You may have to repeat a few times to get all of them assigned. 2. The unit frame UI provides a quick way of making battle groups so you don't have to go searching for
