Everything in your original post is awesome, no complaints. I'm very excited about the variety of global abilities. That's an area that you could be very creative with, perhaps we'll see even more of that in DLC and expansions. Most of the rest of my post is about global abilities, though I dabble into research too. Getting rid of the various resource buildings, relegating that to research, seems like a neat idea. On the downside, this tech tree does seem a little boring.

There is a reason: you want the game to look unbelievable, and you cannot execute that vision on a low resolution. I'm not saying that's the case here, and I bet they will do it, so I wouldn't worry. Also, 1920x1080 perhaps represents a bar that you must pass in order to be an alpha tester. It implies you have a system beefy enough to give the game a fighting chance. It would not be helpful in this stage to have a bunch of people saying the game sucks because they can'

ASADDF thanks for helping me understand. So the picture you have in reply #19, does the left side info include all units visible on the screen? Or just the units in whatever blob you click? Or the blobs you do a click-drag select? Asked another way, what do you see is the optimal left side unit list in a variety of zoom-out and unit grouping situations?
All that with no information at all on them, no icons whatsoever, but when you click on 1 of them, then you will see the Meta units info on the left top side of the screen. I think there will be no need of icons on the screen when you zoom if you have other ways to know where your units are and what units you have on each group.
What you describe seems like the Sins way of doing things. It works the
I think in this game, we should go the route where Ctrl-Keys are exclusive. What I mean by that is that in Starcraft, I Use the 1 key to select an entire army, the 2 key to select one part of that same army and the 3 key to select another part of that army. But in Ashes, you won't ever have that kind of micro management for obvious reasons. Instead, we should encourage players to think of their hot keys as representing true

I like many of the ideas above. If you can integrate at-a-glance number of unit info, strength of unit info, role of unit info, and health of unit info, that would be great. Here is a mock-up of how you might be able to add some extra unit context in a zoomed out strategic view. At a glance you can get a good idea of what this group of units is

A little disappointed because I convinced myself it would be around the 13th. I think the dates on that journal page were ninja edited at some point because originally it was the 6th and 13th, now it's the 13th and 20th. The history does not indicate when that change was made. Anyway, I'm also happy to wait another week. Maybe they'll be able to get in some cool feature this next week that we would have otherwise missed.

Also there is an Elite Founders program, which also gets you all future DLC and expansions. Good if you know you will want to play the game long term. Founders can upgrade to Elite later, but only until the Early Access deadline. You cannot purchase founders or elite founders after the game goes to Early Access, which they initially said may happen as early as late summer.

I'm personally okay with 4 max human players, as long as we can have (eventually) 4v4 vs the AI. If the devs' vision pans out, our systems are going to have trouble running more. Maybe in a few years they can expand as computers get faster, but I don't think it should be a high priority now.

That is not at all my problem with the UP. The problem with the UP is in your first phrase "it's the overseeing body of the galaxy". If my allies and I do not see it that way, or we do not like the rules set by the UP, my allies and I will form a different UP and govern that way. The only reason the UN is legitimate is because the member nations say it is and they have the economic and military power to back up their policies. Non-member nations may not recognize its legitimacy as the "ov

I agree with a lot of other suggestions above. If I'm to hold myself to just 5 things, these are them. Others have said these things, but so I will echo the ones I would love to see, in this order. 1. Production wheel/slider profiles to which multiple planets can be set. You also should have governors to automatically switch planets to different profiles when certain conditions are met. Governor 1: When the planet's queue becomes idle, automatically set it to profile X. Govern

Seilore, those aren't flaws, just different gameplay mechanics. It could be possible for nations to create a second United Nations. There's the European Union already. I'm pretty sure some countries want a "Caliphate", which wouldn't necessarily be opposed to or mutually exclusive with the UN. Some countries could belong to both, while others would belong to one or the other or neither. The UP's "in or out" is just too limiting.

Right now they have released one version of the game (plus some minor patches). They considered it "pre-alpha". It is a couple months old. On my system it is quite stable and runs smooth. The next founder release is supposed to come out either late this week or next week (they said no earlier than August 13th). Their timeline had them moving to Early Access in late summer, which it is. Once they release Early Access, you will not be able to become a founder or an elite founder. <

Front Line Issues: Front lines work in real war because if you were to try to just go through it, you'd have devastating casualties. You need to make that happen. It seems to me you could benefit from a kind of "mine field" mechanic, though not permanent in the conventional sense. The main purpose of a mine field isn't actually to blow things up, which of course it does, it is meant to force the enemy to take a different route, or slow them down, WAY down. You have to sweep fo

Not sure if this is what you mean by setup options, but different game speed options would be logical possibilities. Game speed: how fast everything happens per unit of time. What we see is the alpha could be normal. Slow everything down (units, building speed, resource accumulation speed, battles) 0.5x or speed everything up to 1.5 to 2x. In single player you might have hockey's to allow players to speed up or slow eown the game, but it doesn't make as much sense in mu
