"Auto survey does mean search around, find anomolies, and explore them. At least, that's what my survey ships do when I tell them to auto survey.... " So you mean to tell me that your survey ship will explore every corner of the galaxy and that you dont need scout ships huh? Survey ships will 'auto-survey' which means they will automatically go survey any "visible" anomoly. Once all of the visible area of the map is void of anomolies they stop and wait for orders. They do not e

whsv, though you have some interesting ideas, I think it overcomplicates things and the AI wouldnt be able to take advantage of such features. And the way you explained how fleet combat would work is similar to how armies in Civ3 work. Wrath_of_Dog, yeah Brad did say that, but his only arguement was 'super-fleets' and as I pointed out, that argument is moot with proper implementation. I would hope he would keep an open mind about most ideas, but then again he is an android, so yah never

Does no one have any creative solutions? The main argument against this is the idea of 'super fleets'. blah blah blah That is so easily countered. No fleets to start. Make it a military technology. Have fleets work just like in Civ3. The first fleet tech allows 3 units. A Higher up tech increases this to four. Maybe another one makes it 5. Sprinkle in a tech or two dealing with maybe defense or hitpoint bonuses of fleets and voila, problem solved. Place a limit on the number of

I think more buttons that do nothing should be implemented, just to screw around with people. I remember a game called Suikoden for the Playstation, it was an rpg and in one town there was a building, that had some stairs leading up, but they were blocked. Well people assumed there was some quest involved to unblock the stairs, so people searched high and low on how to open this up. People went nuts looking for a way to open this thing, just because it was there. Turns out it was nothin

lol, if you can move a single ship with 20 constructors into the enemies territory while you're at war then you need to up the AI to something realistic. ~SDC~

The PQ bonus can be verrrrrry nice if you chose a lower number of habitable planets. Go back to any one of your games and look at all the 13/14 planets that you could have colonized. Something really nasty you can do. Colonize those class 14 planets in the AI's territory, which will be bumped up to 16 for you, then give them to the AI. *cackle* ~SDC~

Maybe it should invoke a minimum time you have to be at war before you start receiving payment or payments stop once yer at peace with the target. Or you could go the CivIII route. They use a 20 turn base for agreements like this. Break one early, and the AI wouldnt trust you next time and payments immediately stop. Plus, the other AI's would hear of this and be less likely to trust you with such an agreement. Given how much Brad has put into this AI, I would say this concept o

This is why you check out planets before you send an invasion force. Even with better tech, overwhelming numbers can win. With your tech advantage I wouldnt have gone in with less than 5b, preferably 10b just to be safe. This is why anytime you have morale issues, just build a combat transport, load a few billion and ship them off to the front lines. >:) Teach them to complain about overcrowding. ~SDC~

I like the idea of the UP enforcing peace treaties for a minimum number of turns, but he's an added idea. If you want to attack before that time, either leave the UP or all remaining members will turn on you for breaking the treaty. Arturus, there is no auto-explore. And 'search for anomolies' is not the same as auto-survey. What people want is the survey ship to explore unexplored areas and survey anomlies as they are found. ~SDC~

Mythor, The trick Solitair posted is nothing new to gaming. The same thing has been done since the days of Warcraft and Civilization. Plus, if he was really abusing the system, do you think he's so dumb as to post it on an open forum? Come on now, dont be pointing fingers before you get all the facts. ~SDC~

Ok, so you have 1 buff sector. I'll go around it and destroy the rest of your empire. Or I'll turn everyone against you so you have no trade income. Or I'll just destroy your precious starbases and eat your constructors alive! ~SDC~
