#1 Put them in the same square. Then look to the far right middle where you see a little grid with all the ships. There's a green diamond to the right. Click it. Now they are grouped. click the yellow one to ungroup. #2 They can be built anywhere but on a star or anomoly (til its been explored). So yes, they are great to build at home too, specially with those production and trade modules. To get it to plant, look in the little window in the lower right of the main screen. You'll see a

"Fully loaded production starbase is surrounded by three (offensive, defensive, and trade) ancillary starbases" You know all these affects stack right? There's really no need to specialize a starbase. ~SDC~

Yes put an alarm clock in. Have me be able to set a specific time, or a set number of hours and minutes. And make it blair some music at me like those dang Drengin and make the screen do funny things or something. Not just a little popup that I'll just close and keep playing. ~SDC~

Brad, As far as lowering taxes to win . . . and I know people will hate me for this . . . Why not have the voting based on average approval rating since the last election. So far in the 5 games I have played, I've never lost an election because I just lower taxes the turn before. Using the average scheme would actual force players to keep the people happy for more than one turn. ~SDC~

You are totally not getting this concept. You're trying to compare apples to oranges, and it wont work. PQ affects maximums, Morale affects currents. PQ really only matters to morale when you either have a really crappy planet You could have a class 50 planet, but if your morale is at 1%, you wont be producing jack. Likewise, you could get 100% Morale on a class 15 planet, and still not be producing jack. ~SDC~

Admit it Brad, you've mastered human cloning. That's the only logical solution to how you can be on the boards or the chat room at all hours, work on code, sleep, and still see your family. I know you have the secret Brad, so spill it! I want the source code for your cloning machine! I need a clone to go to school and another to go work, leaving me to play GalCiv all day. Now this isn't a threat, just a 'suggestion'. ;)

Point taken. Counterpoint. What about morale? or economy? or research? And dont say resources. What if you dont have access to any? These are key infrastructure buildings. Heck, some infrastructure has NO maintanence. And I always build the production boosting infrastructure, I dont care about the cost to maintain it when I can crank out a constructor every other turn, or build wonders in under 10 turns. :) Starbases and infrastructure both have their place,

Like the title said, I'm looking for commands or shortcuts you may have found that weren't in the users guide. My favorite is the Ctrl-N This is used at the beginning of a game if you dont like the galazy layout and your placement. All it does is recreate the galaxy, and relocate you, but keeps all of the previous settings. Great if you get stuck in the corner with no way to expand! Any others out there? ~SDC~

It only applies to units who start in that sector, but not to freshly built units. I actually tested this. Stacking affects also apply, to what limit, I dont know. ~SDC~

Absolutely, in fact, you should do this back home with those factory modules. Build two or three starbases in a single sector with a few decent planets, deck em out with production modules and enjoy!

Yeah. this is definitely a bug. But I do like the idea of planetary bombardment. Right now we have two extremes. No bombardment or using a terror star for total destruction. It'd be cool to bombard a planet back to the 20th century. :D

The AI could have chosen the range increase and speed increase for its chosen starting abilities. The AI could have gone straight for the range increasing techs. The AI could have found anomolies that increase range. The AI could be cheating. Or it could just be a bug.
