I haven't tried the campaign yet. I am wondering, do you set the difficulty once for the entire campaign, or do you set it for each mission? Dano

Awesome ... just what we need. Political Correctness in games where planetary battles involve killing every individual/child/egg on the planet. Maybe there needs to be some pillow tech so we can outfit our soldiers in a way that doesn't offend someone somewhere ...
I love the fleet battles, but they seem to start a little close don't they? Its like the Bismark and the Hood duking it out with a 25 meters between them. The only reason I bring it up is becuase the ships stop on a dime and rotate to avoid the inevitable collision. It sort of breaks the suspension of disbelief to see capital ships do this. My gut tells me that this is not a trivial enhancement, just thought I would bring it up. Anyone agree? Disagree? Dano
Holy Crap this is an amazing game! K ... found a few more things 1) When you are building a structure on a planet, every time you make a selection, the item menu refreshes back to the top of the list, so if you are building xeno farms and you want to select three in a row you select, scroll, scroll, select, scroll, scroll ... its kind of annoying. I believe the same is true of the actual queue as well when you want to remove things. Both lists should not refresh <br
K ... thanks for the heads up! Dano
If Captured Trade good buildings provide no benefit it would be handy if they were auto destroyed when you conquered the planet. As it is I can't get rid of them. The same is true for Captured Manufacturing capitals, tech capitals etc Dano
How do you destroy buildings like Manufacturing Capital? When I select it, all the options to destroy it are gone. The same is true of trade good buildings. This is particularly troublesome on captured planets, especially since it seems like you don't get the trade good anyway. So its a double whammy -> you don't get the trade good and you can't use the space. Hopefully I am mistaken about this Dano
I think the free camera mode is quite sufficient, but I agree it is a little slow zooming in and out
Hi all! Just a few questions - If you capture a planet with a manufacturing capital, and you already have one, does the captured manufacturing capital still keep its bonus? When you capture trade good structures, do you get the trade goods? I captured Aphrodisiac, but was unable to select it in the diplomacy screen Also - on a related note, do the Resupply structures extend ALL of your fleets range, only those built on that planet, or all ships but ju
As anyone who knows anything about Quantum Mechanics, quantum entities once together can have an influence on one another over a great distance. The same seems to be true of ships in this marvellous game. I have noticed this behaviour: Ships are part of a fleet (or sometimes just stacked together) Separate one of the ships to go somewhere Separate the others to go somewhere else Click on the first one and with the rest of his movement points click on the map to make t
Hi there, Let me explain. In the beginning you get simple factories, labs etc. If you happen to capture a planet in the later game that has few/no factories then all that are available are the uber-structures, which take about 300 turns to build. So such planets are essentially useless ... It would be great if there was an Obsolete section in the structures list that you can expand and then build smaller factories etc in order to get enough production to tackle the big b
Here are some more 'easy' fixes 1) When a ship build event occurs on the GNN it would be great if it also said (Starport now Full) if that was indeed the case 2) It would be uber-cool if you could select a ship, hit a button to mark it some how. Then in your diplomacy screen all such marked ships would be marked with an asterisk. It would save me from writing down the numbers every time I want to sell/give ships to other civs. 3) When there are stacked ships
Wow, some great suggestions here I definitely second (or third or fourth) the following * A message explicitly telling you when a race tells you that have declared war on you * A radius whenever you are about to construct a starbase * Circles around ships that you are war with * An undo button on ship design My own ideas are as follows. My apologies if these are already in the game 1) Suppose you have captur
I think the devs will be pleased with this ... http://www.nlgaming.com/pc/nl/asp/id_1374/pc/nl/reviewDisp.htm
Hey there! I don't know anything about 3d graphics, but is it possible to have a free range camera in the fleet battle viewer? The way the camera button follows ships and the way they zing around its hard to get an overall sense of the battle. I know the overhead cam would provide that, but that just isn't cinematic enough for me. I crave the ability to drop a camera, zoom in and out and watch a battle several times from different viewpoints. Not sure if this a
There are definitely different songs ... for some reason the score dramatically changed during one of my games. Not sure why, I have been playing Neutral throughout ... Dano
Everyone is entitled to their opinion ... just like I am entitled to mine. But I can't understand the complaint concerning the Tech tree being TOO big, or there being TOO much stuff to put on your ship. The best games allow a billion choices for you to make - the worst only a few. Perhaps it can be overwhelming to be presented with all these choices on your first game, but I don't know how one could avoid this overwhelming without stifling those very choices that make this game brilliant (IMH
I thought the music in GalCiv 1 was sort of mediocre and repetitive, but am finding this music very inspiring. Actually it reminds me in its style a little bit like Lord of the Rings, and that is a HIGH compliment indeed. Whoever composed the music - Kudos! Dano

Hi there Just glancing at the forums, and it looks like a lot of people are having some major problems, but I imagine a lot more are not (just based on my experiences and Stardock's reputation). As a developer myself I get someone despondant when all I see are bug reports, even if statistically speaking it may be 1 in 100 people having a severe bug. Anyway, just to add some balance to the initial perception of someone visiting the forum for the first time, feel f
Does anyone know how we can burn GalCiv 2 to cd once it has been downloaded? I like to have a hard copy of my fave games rather than relying on the volatility of a current install ... and yes I know we can download again from Stardock. Is it just a matter of burning the directory structure onto a CD? Dano
I think the bombardment and promotion ideas were a great idea, but the diplomacy in civ 4 still blows. AIs getting ticked at me for not handing over techs to them every 5 turns is not my idea of great diplomacy ... especially when they won't even give me pointed-stick technology when I am their best bud. Also - the tech tree is just way too small. Dano
You know the more I think about it the more I think Multiplayer would be damn fun for Gal Civ 2 ... but ONLY as an email type game. This would be pretty slow in the beginning where you only have two or three things to do before you have to 'send your turn' in for the day. But if you could start with 4 or 5 planets right off the bat that might make things more interesting. Not sure how you would handle diplomacy though. Could real players wheel and deal free form or would they be fo
