stevious is right, BvG is wrong. Simple as that. At least Frogboy has requested savegames with proof of the AI doing stuff like colonizing out of range or homing on resources it doesn't know, and noone has yet given him one where he couldn't find an explanation for it. Basically, it may *look* as it cheats, but it simply does not. Astro ~SDC~

Kavok, yes, it's very easy to do that: Play at Intelligent :) Really, from what Frogboy and co said the only differenct between Intelligent and Incredible is the tax bonus. If you can beat Intelligent consistently, you have to wait for AI patches that make it harder, or else try new game condition (start a good civ in an all-evil universe :) Astro ~SDC~

Star Pilot hit it in the head, IMHO. All the people that complain about lack of tactics aren't, really. There's plenty of battle tactics that can make or break your attack strategy. PLENTY. All these people want is 1337 GUNZ0RXXX. Wheee, let's have tactical so we can have 5 buttons, all names somethingsomething Mark XIII so we can click them and see the nice P4RTICL0RZ FXXXORZ *sigh* Astro

Also, how about (for the long term) enhancing Espionage a lot to deal with this? You could (spending HUGE amounts of cash) sabotage research (making it require additional turns to complete) or even, if the espionage diff is high enough, allowing the "unlearning" of a tech if discovered only a few game turns earlier (for example, destroying a research center and killing scientists before the papers with the results could be published to the rest of the scientific community) Anyone like t

Brad, I second that request above. When taking out issues for being too hard, please please please put them in the Library for the rest of us. Besides, I really don't think it's unbalanced, simply by the fact that: 1) It helps you if you're behind, and aids you if you're in front 2) Depending on how far ahead you are when you are hit with it, some material advantage still exists, because you were able to start the projects the tech enabled some time before the rest of the races

several issues are fixed already, and some you are wrong about, but some will never be fixed. So it's really up to you. Tactical Combat: Brad has stated that this will *not* *ever* be a part of GalCiv. It's supposed to be "Civilization in Space", not "Master of Orion Clone". You didn't have tactical combat in Civ either. So, if this is a must for you, I'm afraid you have the wrong game. But do try to enjoy it for its strengths. Diplomacy: On the right side are the AI's assets,

Can anyone please confirm the impression that I get, that most of the time the maintenance costs in GC drag your empire down? If this is the case, I think specializing in planets is a good way to bring down those costs, and therefore improve your economy. So, if this is true, specializing would not be, like in MoO, a way to minmax your bonuses, but a way to keep the economy sane. Astro

If you have such a tech/econ boost, can't you, when you *know* the UP is coming (it warns you the month before, doesn't it? trade some tech/cash with another influent civ for some of their influence in the vote? That way you can turn your economic advantage into a political one, and do some screwing over of your own. Or am I totally off base here? Astro

YES. What people have to realize is that building up ALL your worlds, ALL the time, with ALL the buildings is not an economically feasible proposition. You have to see how much the planet is capable of supporting purely on the "free maint" upgrades, then build enough to patch any of the obvious problems of that planet (morale-boosting, shipyards if a war is coming, etc). That's why multiple governors are important, instead of having only one gov with all the upgrades in it. About the te
