Yesssss!!! I really love these game examples Brad. Thanks a bunch for this great, great writeup! After reading through the whole story it REALLY makes me want to play GCII. Ah well, only 5 days of waiting left. Brilliant story with lovely screenshots. Just as with the videos I can only say: WE WANT MORE! <img src="smiles/Congrats.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmiddle"

At least you'll be able to download the full version as soon as it's available (21st of February and as Brad stated in the last journal, you'll be able to download a lot of stuff ealier so that you only have to download a few megs on releaseday. Yep, you need Stardock Central to download. If you still want a boxed version I think you have to mail support. But I don't think you'll have to mail your serial . Your preorder information should be enough for them. When I preorder

All about tactical combat? Tactical combat was part of it and (at least for me) an annoying part too as you could easily outmanoeuvre the AI and win battles you shouldn't win, thus destroying the longterm singleplayer fun factor. It was a good game in its day nonetheless.

Sounds like a good deal of fun Popup! A 36 attack ship with obvious weaknesses. Sure sounds like a fun counter. I think this will really make the game fun. Constantly adapting to your worst enemies! The endless possibilities of betting everything on one type of weapon or trying to make a jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none kind of ship.

Oh man... GalCiv II isn't even out yet and already you want more? The dedicated people of Stardock have a policy that they will support the game for at least a full year. And mind you their support is WAY better than the average game support. You'll see fixes, tweaks and small additions to the game every few days or weeks close after release. They already promised a bonuspack and knowing the devs they will probably do another bonuspack later in the year. Even an expansion pack is poss

I like the way they did it. Every single planet is going to be randomly generated, different and unique. I like that much better than having to put time in designing my own planets. Believe me, designing ship is great, great fun, but let's keep it at that. The time and resources that have to go into a planet designer are much better spent improving the AI or adding shipparts to the game like others already said.

I cannot give you all the details, but believe me you've never seen a game where the design of your own units is so free (ingame). There are a LOT of parts available to customize your ship. And you can stack parts (like wings) on other parts (to create double wings), you can put lights on your ships, antenna's, really about everything. I was really amazed when I first started designing my ships. I never expected it to be this much fun and give the player so much freedom. I think even

Also, the AI has definitely gotten better, my most recent game (the almost-gold release) is the first time I've ever felt the need to start building a defensive fleet out of anything larger than small hulls. On what level are you playing Popup? Just curious to see more reports about the current AI.

She's expecting ("release date" August 2006). Congrats Brad (and family). After two Frogboys perhaps it's gonna be a little Froggirl this time.

Great work Stardockians! The game is going to be awesome. Lukcily I'm very busy at work and at home till the 21st, so those 17 days should pass quickly. Sadly I can only play the game for two weeks before going on my honeymoon. But I won't complain.

I think it's just not possible for a TBS strategygame like this. You need things to be out of scale. Ships are as big as complete plants too. It's necessary because we would only see a pixel representing a small ship if the scale would be perfect. All the great TBS strategygames like Civ, Moo, AoW, MoM, Homm had things out of proportion. There's just no sense in putting it all in the right scale. I wouldn't fancy scrolling the mouse all the time to zoom in and out to just see my ship

Yep, I already read the one against the Drengin. Great read! But it's even better to hear that more are coming up after the gold copy has been sent out. That ought to soothe the waiting pains for a lot of people.

I remember the days right before GalCiv I came out. I heard from the game after I tried the failure that was MoO3. When I found the link to the site I discovered some gamereports done by Brad. They immediately sold the game to me! It was a blast to read them. Therefore my question. As soon as you Stardock guys don't make 25 hours a day anymore could you please post some of these game examples again?

Well, it's been discussed quite a few times already. While I agree that a multiplayer option would have been great, Brad Wardell, has clearly stated that the devteam wanted to give full focus to the singleplayer part. And I'm positive they won't disappoint us. If they would have done multiplayer it would have cost us quite a bit of features that are now in the game. For singleplayer to work you need good AI and I'm very sure the GCII AI WILL be very good. Already the GCI AI give me a
