Asking Stadock Central to resend your serial did the trick for me. The serial I got from the resend was completely different to the one I used to have. Entering the new serial finally gave me access to the game. Very weird way to go and badly documented, but hey I can play

Sounds like a useful bug to report, but I think you have to give some more information so the devs can look into it. Please read CariElfs post about beta reporting.
That makes sense actually. The complete randomness of the homeworld in GC1, made a lot of players regenerate the galaxy till the finally had a nice quality homeplanet. This option will even things out.
Edit: doublepost (stupid internetconnection!)
Sounds like a cool idea AngleWyrm. That way you could easily access your favourite ships from former games.
Looking forward to that new techtree. Should be easy to top the old one.
Sounds like you're making great strides! I love the concept of freighters that can be equipped with defense. That ought to make raiding traderoutes much more interesting.
Ah the ' lookup serial' trick finally did it for me too, yay!
I'm still experiencing the activation bug too Reinstalled SDC, switch to California server and reinstalled GalCiv II, but still that stupid popup window! Does it have anything to do with the fact that I'm not installing the game into the standard directory? Besides that when uninstalling SDC via the normal route, it locks up all the time, so I had to manua
I like the solution they use in the Age of Wonders series. There you can chose for autocombat or tactical combat. That way the player can decide to either let the calculator do the job or do it himself. It does take a lot of programming to get a good TC AI going though...
Lots of great suggestions here. But shall we wait for the final game first and then go on and make wishes for a multiplayer variant? Only thing I would really fancy is PBEM
Well for GalCiv I Stardock even released a free addon pack, so who knows... I would love to have a PBEM option, but Galciv is so much fun against the AI that this is one game that can live without multiplayer.
A play-by-e-mail mode (and other multiplayer options). No matter how much I like GalCiv (and it's great AI), at one point my interest in the game got lost. With the Altarian Prophecy I've picked up playing again, but it won't last forever I'm sure. But the reason I'm STILL playing Age of Wonders II and Shadow Magic are the great PBEM and multiplayer modes. I think GalCiv II could be an excellent game for PBEM too.
That's great to hear :)
Very true, it's been rather quiet here. I hope that the release of the Altarian Prophecy will bring some extra life into the forums again. I haven't been here for a long time myself either. I've been scanning the forums every now and then but haven't posted much.
It updates itself, but sometimes runs into trouble. The only option then is to completely reinstall SDC over the previous version and everything works again.
But IF the copy is not so legal (read: illegal) you could always try. 1 nope 2 nope 3 nope 4 nope 5 nope 6 nope Just keep trying. You'll get there, I gave the first six number away already! ;p Man I'm in a good mood.I'll give you another one. It's NOT 10283609235986329782365 either.
Downloaded it, gotta go to bed now though :( Important meeting tomorrow. Have a fun chat guys. I'll be playing this baby tomorrow. ~SDC~
Interesting how important these scores are for people. I REALLY don't care about them, since I don't want to extend the game as long as possible by cashing and let my pop grow to get more points. To each one his own I guess :HOT:
Wooohooo the final frontier option for the AI is in the game :) Is there an AI path that tries to reach this goal or doesn't the AI have the strategy yet to reach Final Frontier? Thanks for the update Brad! ~SDC~
This is actually a good thing (sorry guys) since I don't have time to play tonight anyways ;)
Totally agree Emily! Only the unofficial aow2 forums at aow2.heavengames.com come close to these forums. A whole lot of people who enjoy the game and great support and interaction by the devs.
Interesting and fresh approach. I think this could surely work. Currently I'm playing Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic multiplayer and PBEM and I think there's nothing wrong with how they made it. You can do simulaneous turns in MP games and you can set a timer on it, which makes the gameplay pretty streamlined. PBEM is easy to do and great fun. I already played 'this way' back in the Commodore Amiga days via a 3,5" diskette. Conquest anyone?
I recall that one of the early features of the X-pack would be an option for the AI to win by some sort of techvictory too. I'm playing the beta now, but I can't find anything about it. Can you enlighten us Brad? ~SDC~
Oh yeah! Downloading it right now and will be playing it this weekend!
