Thanks for making me a senator too Impune :) Thanks for the kind words Freya. I've taken the long weekend off to recover from my birthday, that was correct! LOL But I've done that far and away from home and thus my computer. Returned on Monday but it's so hectic and work that sadly I haven't been able to play a single bit :( The upcoming weekend is GalCiv weekend though! Can't wait to finish that game. Of course I'll keep you guys posted. Good to see we

Stuck with Moo3 and missing out on GalCiv. Poor, poor you! ;) In honesty it's a shame that the release in Europe is so much trouble but if there was ever a game worthy of getting, GalCiv is. Like stated before, this isn't a developer's issue, but a publisher's issue. I think that Strategy First didn't have real high expectations of this game at first. That's why they didn't really bother to find a distributor in Europe. Now that the game is such a hit in the US, SF must feel pretty st

The 1.7 method seems easy and good. It does what it is supposed to do. Reduce the ludricous amount of starbases that human players seem to build. In order to make this method work the AI must understand that it should upgrade it's bases and not create lots of tiny ones. Otherwise we do need a module maintenance cost. The starbase support network seems like a sound idea too, but what would the upkeep of the network be? And what would the cost be? I think the first idea

Great work Bill! I'll test it right away when I get home tonight. It looks very promising though. Good to see we have such talented people in the community that help the community improve the game along with the developers!

Hehe, although I'm such a player who thinks the AI should be able to win via techvictory (under certain conditions) I agree here, if they aren't paying, they have no right to research Final Frontier! ;p Great read alltogether.

"My biggest problem with the save/reload process is the bug that apparently causes some saved games to become corrupted and unplayable. I've had to abandon a game entirely because it will not load (CTD every time). All other concerns are trivial in comparison, IMO." Vanir, I've had this problem too. I sent my turn to CariElf. She could load it without any problems. She played one turn, saved and sent it back to me and voila, I could continue my game. Maybe this works for you too. Ju

Demo is out on worthplaying too. http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=10366 Froggie will put the news on the page later on today I think. For a European like me it's almost 11 'o clock but I guess our little green Froggie is still in bed.

I wouldn't respawn as much as Ellestar suggests. It's fun to pick up the challenge and try to pull off the win, even when you're behind in the beginning. And it's possible too. The game is about fun, not just winning IMHO. I would recommend to make sure you give yourself a chance by picking a reasonable starting position. Enough planets and expansion possibilities that is. I only restart when my starting position is really bad. After that it's a fair fight between the CPU and y

Yeah let's leave it at that :) I'm from The Netherlands, Surther. Bought the game online thru Drengin.net. Sadly the game isn't available for retail in Europe (just saw a new newsitem about it on the frontpage). I do hope it's coming soon as it will be good for the GalCiv sales I think. We've had to wait for games like Kohan and Disciples II way too long. By the time those games arrived (4 to 6 months later) a lot of community interest was already lost

I have had troubles with all AI's in the games I've played thusfar. Those have been sub-normal, normal, bright and intelligent games. In my current intelligent game the Yor and Torians are dominating. I'm a good third, while the Arceans and Altarians are the weaklings of the galaxy. The Drengins started out awesome with good economy and military. But they got too greedy and their warfare with the Torians, and the Altarians at the same time cost them. I was amazed by the efficiency the T

I'm working on a gigantic galaxy, AI's set to intelligent. As this point though, I have high doubts I'm going to win the game. If only I can setup the Yor and Torians against eachother :p At first the Drengin were being mean to me, but they got wiped out by the Torians in no time. I never expected that to happen so quickly. Now the Yor are plucking off me, because my military is too weak at the moment. Great game thusfar but I dare not to predict the outcome. If a
