Very well said Solitair. You defenitely deserve the title of 'Diplomat'. :) And I agree with Nastavnik. The most important aspect of the Metaverse for me too is to improve the AI, not to get the highest possible score.

I'll throw in my suggestion from another thread again. I also would like the AI to be able to win by techvictory, but there are certainly things to be taken in to consideration. If all else fails here's my in between solution. I think this might make both the pros and cons happy. Maybe it would be a good idea to disable techvictory after an AI has outrun you. That way the game continues but the techvictory isn't an option anymore. How about that? Wouldn't that make everybody ha

"If you're playing the metaverse then you're not playing GalCiv." There you go! :) A lot of people here are quite fanatical about the Metaverse though. It's their choice of course, but I couldn't care much about my score. Imho the metaverse is fun, but nothing more than that. The best use of it is to improve the AI. Above all GalCiv is fun. And it's getting better by the day still :CONGRAT: So says the old man who just turned 28 one hour and 10 minutes ago :

Battlehammer: - Lower attack rating, perhaps the same as a Battleaxe or just one higher. - Higher defence rating than Battleaxe. It's higher up the techtree, so it must be better than the ship it is supposed to replace. - Hitpoints right above those of the Battleaxe. Not much just a bit. - Higher maintenance costs than the Battleaxe. That should stop people 'abusing' the ship as a major attackship. Lowering the attackrate and upping the defence would make the most sense

I'm at work at the moment, but can someone put the exact stats of the new Battlehammer and the Battleaxe up. That should make for a good comparison as I do fear quite a bit the the Battlehammer IS useless now as it looks like the Battleaxe is the better ship for nearly every aspect now, except for attack rating.

It made sense to lower the HP's of the Battlehammer but it might have been wise to up the defence value a bit. Battlehammer was intented to be a system defense ship I think. Before this patch it was mainly used as an 'el cheapo' attackship. I think Stardock wanted that to change, so they lowered the hp's. A good thing IMHO but since the Battlehammer is next in line after the Battleaxe is should have something like a better defence rating compared to its predecessor. Otherwise it does be

Popup when did they nerf the Battle Hammer, in the latest 1.03 build? Haven't checked it, just wondering. It would be a good change though, since the Hammer had just too much hitpoints. I kinda agree about battletransports. They can be mean, but in the time and age you get them there are plenty of options of taking them out. I agree with Vorlin on the Ranger. I like that ship too of its sheer speed. Starfighters, battlecruisers, starhawks and phoenixes are a

I agree Huzurdaddi. But starbases should certainly stay at a beatable level. It's really annoying though when a single ship blows up three of your best starbases in one turn (I know, I know bad defences but we are talking a starBASE vs a starSHIP here). Fully upgraded starbases should at least cost a bit of effort to destroy.

Guys, Frogboy is talking about 'dozens of trillions'. So he's probably talking about something like 50 trillion people I guess. That means it's certainly not impossible to end up with 10 trillion people on a gigantic galaxy. But that's not even close to the 50 trillion that some people had in their scores.

First the simple question. Nope, no new ships in 1.03. What's your biggest problem on bright? Can't you keep up with the AI economically, military, socially, techwise? Playing with the spending sliders is a big part of the key I discovered. Especially in the beginning of the game you have to take good care of them. You should produce as many colonyships (military spending) you can, as quickly as possible in the beginning. After you've settled on the majority of planets

CariElf, and erase the bootfiles on the harddrive? ;p Sorry... couldn't resist ;) I've had one game with CTD's thusfar. That was while playing version 1.01something I think. After that it never happened again. And now I'm trying to keep my eyes open at work... AGAIN! ;)

Planet quality defenitely has an effect on morale. A 14 quality planet can always be a good idea to colonize. With soil enrichment and habitat improvement it is already a class 16 or 17 planet. If you've chosen the Green Thumb ability it's even better.

Those purple systems aren't always the greatest, they can be worthless too, but yes sometimes they have very nice planets. A yellow system is always good though. Every other system can contain 15+ planets, but you have to be lucky to.

Allen, you don't really 'get them'. You lease them, so you get the advantages/bonuse of the good but you don't get the good for your own. Since the race that leases the trade goods to you has the exclusive rights to have it, other civs can only lease it.

Code Monkey you haven't read the thread good enough. Not at all, am I trying to 'hose the game for other people'. I'm also not saying that I can easily beat incredible AI, cause I can't, in fact I've never tried. If you read my suggestion earlier in this thread I think that solution could appeal to both casual and hardcore players. I consider myself in between casual and hardcore. I just feel that is a game that finally has an AI worthy of taking on a human, but it's h
