Actually, for a lot of people here, it has much to do with GalCiv. I too am a MOO refugee, searching for a better TB-Space game. There's no doubt that many people who now play GalCiv defected after the horrible release that has cursed the once-great Master of Orion series. GalCiv is constantly upgraded, and ripping on the poor aspects of MOO3 may actually be constructive criticism. Then Frogboy or whoever works on GalCiv can get ideas of what NOT to do, and maybe read a few ide

It appears the flow is turning more towards individual competition rather then global success. That is all based on who you multi-play with. There is no reason a game like this couldn't go MP. Would it take away from single player? Yes Would it add a new dimension to the game? Yes Will cheats be created? Yes (though i'm sure some already have been so ppl can score higher on MetaVerse) The only thing bad about MP is mostly the fact that the game must dec

You said be sure to get the techs - this poses another related question. If I have a BattleAxe (2 attack, 5 defense) and I research a tech that gives +10 attack, where does that tech go? Do only new ships get it (can old ones be upgraded?) or is the +10 unrelated to the core stats: 2/5? (thanks for your patience, this info is quite helpful) :D

Ok, so then do I destroy/sell outdated buildings when better versions come along? And is there a listing somewhere showing the chain of upgrades from say a bank to a stock exchange?

So at what point should I even think about building ships other then trade, constructors, and science? Battleships (only a couple) then focus on Dreadnoughts until I research better? What about defense? It seems like there are no good defensive ships prior to the battleship (which isn't defensive anyhow).

#1 by Citizen Phaedyme - 4/19/2003 11:21:59 AM What kind of build lists - half of the social projects available for building, or half of the social projects you carefully selected to queue up in the governor? Response: Halfway thru the available build lists. My production is not horrible, but not great.

My experience so far: MOO3 was horrible. It was like the new Star Wars movies compared to the old ones. It was a great idea, but it just didn't fit the mystique of the original (and shouldn't have wore the name) - Plus too many 'unusual' add-ons that took away from gameplay. GalCiv is much more appealing. It reminds me of an old game that some may recall (I know they keep making new versions of the game but they're all the same as the original, aside from better graphics) - War

Ok, so do I understand correctly, you can only have so many trade routes? Can anyone tell me how the number is figured? I mean, it seems like I can't build more then 3-4 routes without any tech advancements (which only yield 1 more at a time) - seems kinda harsh, considering trade makes the world-err, galaxy go around. Also, is there a good way to protect trade routes, without having a ship of some kind set to the same square as a trade vessel EACH turn? Any trade input is appr

Every ship I have ever made has been horrible. These stupid space eels or whatever start with like 30 / 200 HP and have like 30 attack / 5 defense and whoop anything I send at them. Pretty rough for the easiest setting game. I mean I am light years ahead of anyone in tech, all pumped into battleships - and my stats aren't even a quarter of the space creatures stats. Any advice on what ships are good to go for/build, and what is a waste of time would be helpful. thanks

I'm a newbie (only played a couple games) & I keep running into the same problem: I can't produce enough money in the later stages of the game. My colonies aren't even halfway thru the build lists, so maintenance costs shouldn't be an issue. I have few ships (those damn space creatures wiped out most of them), so they shouldn't have too much upkeep costs. My slider bars (government spending?) are as high as i can put them, without losing too much money. My trade routes are general
