From my naive view it seems that my hero level (as compared to notable locations) just rises at random. Can anyone dispel the mystery? Also, is there anyway to check this without mousing over a notable location? Thanks.

I think this would be relatively simple to do but would enhance satisfaction and re-playability to see how you've done against your previous victories. Also, ranking the score against some sort of grading system (see Civ's leaders-from-history ranking) would be fun as well.
Connect a shard to a town? I've only had the game for 3 days so I apologize if this is a complete newb question.
Gave this a try and now have 1.09p Beta installed. However, is 1.1 a different branch with a different mechanism of access or are they synonyms somehow?
Thanks for the help. I just picked up the game two days ago and have a love/hate already with it. Since it crashes fairly regularly already, figured I would move to the Beta instead of "learning" the 1.0.x series.
I see frequent discussion of the 1.1 beta in forum posts, but how does actually join the beta? Is it by a fixed number of invitations or is it open? Thanks.
Hello, Like others I am also experiencing a CTD whenever the UP convenes. This bug began after I upgraded to the latest version (1.0.2.049) on April 18th. Previously, I had played 6 games and had no crashes. Sadly, no more galactic cilizations till this one is fixed. I'm including my specs and the cut-and-paste of the debug.err (which has a modification date at CTD time). I can also send in the save game that causes it, but I don't see any place I can submit a bug with attachements
This is one of my favourite features in Civilization I and III (I was fumed when they took it out of II). It gives a real coherency and sense accomplishment when you watch all the events that unfolded after the game is over (plus you get to see that life wasn't always that easy for the AIs). How about it guys (sleep is highly overrated)?
Still enjoying the game (5th game, moved up to intelligent AIs). But I've noticed a "flaw" in the way the AI conducts battles (the same as many other games). The AI will become fixated on the closest planet to it and just continue to attack it no matter what the cost. In my current game I have juicy star bases sitting just half a sector back but they are never attacked. Instead the AI just keeps sending all its ships to one planet (closest to it) and attempting to attack it (it ha
Enjoying the game so far (3 games played) but the strategy of selling tech to ... well everyone you can, just seems unabalanced. In all the games I've played I've managed to keep my tax rate around 25% and my expenditure near 100% for the majority of the game without any real ill side-effects of my technological garage sale. I know some people are going to say, "well then don't do that" but I don't think that is a legitimate defense of what would seem like an "obvious" strategy that sh
I also experienced boot problems after installing SDCentral OS: Windows XP, Service Pack 1 It damaged my boot.ini (warns it is not present then complains about HAL.dll), luckily I have a router and another computer (and the ultimate trouble shooter -- the internet). If you boot from your Windows XP disk, you can enter a recovery console. After choosing the hard-drive and entering the admin password, you will be given a DOS prompt. Type: bootcfg /rebuild Thi
