Thanks for a grand game! :D 1) On the point everyone is making about the number boxes for peddling money/influence: It works fine, just it seems everyone would like 'Overwrite' the default behaviour, instead of 'Insert'. I would add further, allow the space bar be used to overwrite without causing problems, eg Changing '100' to '10' by typing '10 ' (one zero space) instead of having to reach for the delete key. Allow the keyboard insert key to still toggle between entry m

It is awesome that I'll be playing this game in the (distant, admittedly) company of people like Hurley, who are gutsy enough and have enough character to own up like he has done when he's thought he's done something questionable. Kudos to you, Hurley, for your last message despite the very apparent frustration you've been going through. If it is of any comfort, I've been trying to download just the core game for about the last 60 or 70 hours :notsure: . On a 56k6 modem. In New Zealand
Weapons.md_ finally downloaded after countless timeouts. I'm also nominating St Pat as patron saint of the internet too, 'cause he helps people find lost things like packets, files and web pages :) :) :) ;) Damian ~SDC~
Suggestion for SDC: file resume. Especially with 16MB files like weapons.md_ that get to 15.5MB then time out. :notsure: Damian ~SDC~
Oh booger. I got wherefor and unto mixed up. Or something. Darnit LOL . OK, ignore the silly post of mine just above this one. ~SDC~
I know the subject for this thread is a misquote. When you step back and consider that 'unto' once meant 'where' or 'why' (probably 'why', as I remember), then me saying 'once more to the breach' is what I meant to say. Not 'once more why a breach'. Quibbles, quibbles ;) Damian ~SDC~
It's only the fifth or sixth time this evening that I've got the time-out message on anomoly.md_ . Which means there's been three times that many attempts to download it by SDC. Who's been hogging so much bandwidth that a 56k6 modem in NZ cannot get more than 500KB to 1MB of that file downloaded each time... and sometimes less than that? *sigh* :( I'm NOT giving up... but I've gotta sleep sometime. Suggestion for SDC: Auto-nurse option that, whenever there is a file
When starting the download in SDC, did you just hit the 'install' button, or did you right-click on the program and choose 'archive' from the list? Apologies if this is still not clear, TLA-Russian. Damian ~SDC~
Were you doing a 'download and install' or a 'download and archive' action? ~SDC~
16MB if I remember right... Damian ~SDC~
It's a specialist single player game, Feannag. Why ruin it with multiplayer? (Similar argument with MMORPGs - why ruin them with a single player mode? It'd be a completely new and *different* game). As for suggestions... Invent a way for a 56k6 modem to download at T1 speeds. ***Please!!!*** ;) Damian ~SDC~
Thank you Brad. I've got RC1 now (I hope. It is showing up as "0.99c.145, build: 2"). And it did autoupdate, so I'm filled with more hope now... not that I'd give up trying to get hold of the game LOL Hopefully I can get in 10 minutes playing late tonight sometime before I need to go to bed (:( Damian ~SDC~
Oh **$%^*&. 80% of the way through. Program stopped downloading with a 'file foo is not the right size.' Started from scratch again, and me on a 56k6 in New Zealand. What do you do to get SDC to continue downloads????? HELP!!! Damian ~SDC~
At least I figure the solution I thought of might work... because instead, with 3am thinking I deleted the backup contents (I'm archiving then installing) and started again. Now I'm off to work with 42.29 MB downloaded... GalCiv, here I come! :) Damian ~SDC~
Think I've partially figured out the answer. Answer being, check download log, delete last file that was downloading, let it all go again. Reason I think this is I got up at 3am NZT to check download progress and it said 'file foo is incorrect size, check log?' BTW, when this happened it didn't continue with any other files or attempt to redownload that particular file. Oh well. *sigh* The things we go through for a decent game :) Damian ~SDC~
Also you may wish to have right-clicked on the GalCiv program and then clicked on 'save to archive' or whatever that option is, instead of going for the default 'install'. Also, do you have .99b of SDC? ~SDC~
31, dents and dings as Nomikos said, but I may not have as many :) . At least I've still got a full layer of ceiling insulation (even if my wife says it is starting to thin) :D Damian ~SDC~
Was 30MB into download and home alarm system cut the line (I'm on 56k6). Set SDC to download and archive again, and it seems to have started from scratch again. SDC version is 0.99b.141 Any suggestion about how to get it to resume in the future? I'm off to bed now, so won't be picking up answers for about 8 hours. Later all. Damian ~SDC~
Quote: "I don't see any obvious missing files at the root." I wouldn't see any missing files either, seeing as they're not there to see LOL LOL Damian PS: Man am I loving SDCentral :d ~SDC~
Go to http://www.stardock.com/products/drengin/default.asp?page=downloads Took me some wandering to find it, and now have Drengin.net so I can get GalCiv now! :d LOL Hope this is of some help. From the new newbie, Damian :p ~SDC~
