Yes sadly i think it is too. I prefer a medium or Large map at most. I like games to last a day or two playing at most, and doubt i would ever have time to play a Gigantic map. I noticed all the high scorer's play on Gigantic maps, and have scores 6 or 7 times people playing on medium or latge maps. ~SDC~

When you stop funding, the stats screen on the Civ will not refresh, hence whatever it says when you stop funding, it will always say :) Once you hit advanced, you already are putting enough in to know everything about them i beleive ~SDC~

Its worth remembering Econ buildings cost no maintenance as far as im away. Besides, in my current game, one of my trade routes brings in about 90bc a month, and that pays for most of my maintenance alone, admittedly i only have 9 planets, and am only at the battleship level of the game. Least in the new patch you can click the details tab and see what is costing what maintenance, and you can scrap it if proving too much ~SDC~

Keep your people's moral up. You also need to keep your approval rating above 50%. Lowering taxes seem to work wonders, as does having a good economy, or being a tech leader. Your people like it when your winning, when your not..well they vote you off..kinda like real life ;) ~SDC~

I played a game on Normal, and acheieved a cultural victory on a small map (Normal diff) very quickly, and got a measly 70 odd points i beleive. I then played on a medium map on sub normal and got a military win, and only got 230 points. I see some people getting 2000+ on medium maps? how come? Where does your score come from? ~SDC~

I cant emphasize how important maxing out your trade is straight away, once i have colonise my planets, i get the largest one set on building freighters until i max out my trade routes, and i concentrate on trade techs for a while, you can quite easily be getting 2 or 3 times your Tax revenue from trading alone, plus the Civs your trade with become dependant on your economy, and tend to defend you, off you tribute etc. As for losing, dont worry, i play on Normal level and occasionaly br

Yup they change each time. I have seen the one about mining some Lava place offer as little as 50bc, and as much as 2000bc. I have also seen the evil options giving the same bonus as the neutral ones. ~SDC~

I also wiah i hadn't bought Moo3 on its reputation. I was incredibly disapointed with it, and have just managed to sell it off on Ebay. Looking now at the plethora of reviews that rate it under 50% i feel foolish for purchasing it without waiting for indications on how it played..or lack thereof. On the other hand Gal-Civ is the best game i have played in a long time, and has the Potential to top Civ3/3 as my favourite TBG. ~SDC~

hmm my propoganda does move it up from 30% to 70%ish. For some reason the setting doesnt stick, and the next turn propoganda on my planets is back at 0 ~SDC~

Dearmad, I prefer to win by military not Culture or tech :) Besides i have only just been able to start uploading wins, and i still cannot upload the old pre patch games. That said, the only game that has uploaded is a culture win hehe. How do i know if someone is destabilizing me?

Hmm i *am* the populists, my econ is so-so im in the green, making maybe 50bc a turn, tax is at 0% all planets have the improvements to improve morale. I have propaganda up to full on all worlds. This is only a problem on my Large map games, the ones on small maps dont experience this to the same degree. Overall my Civ has a bonus of about 72% to morale, i have just started using Starbases to improve moral, but once moral improves, the planet grows again and morale is back to the usual 3

Wow Great review, pretty much mirrors my intial thoughts too, im having more fun than in either Moo2,Civ2 or SMAC so far..and that takes some doing :D Some answers, not many because i wanna leave work in 15 minutes :P The proxy attacks, i think this is working fine, your covertly funding them, the other Civ may suspect but cannot prove it, i would like to see you lose a point of umm "Friendlyness" with them tho, as they see you suspiciously. We all know some countries fund oth

Ahh ok gotcha pdifolco! well i play on "Normal" and have a really tough time invading planets, i have only won 2 games out of 11 so far, i find if i manage to defeat their ship defenses, i really need a LOT more troops than them to win, and using the tech's like "mini soldiers" was too expensive at 3000. I havent tried the beginner level, but im sure the AI has a lot of penalties at that level :) ~SDC~

Anyone know what the stats are with the diff Govts? I know they tend to increase my Econ, but do they have other bonuses? maybe better moral, more eager to go to war etc? What %'s does the econ get boosted for each? cheers ~SDC~

Seems a tad...strong ;) It was a UP vote, and for about an hour they were my best attacking ship, they out classedmy battleships hehe..it made invading and conquering a tad easy. Instead oof having options of 5,10 and 20, maybe use 5,10 and 15? meaning battleships are still stonger? ~SDC~
