This day and age you think with are new game for PC it would have some kind of power behind it ? Now that's just a plain ignorant remark, because this game stresses the video card so much that if you've overclocked your card, it will probably overheat, leading to the crashes that you've mentioned in your original post. The patch and the betas address this by adding an option to throttle back the video card so it won't get so stressed out. I experienced crashes all the time th

Believe it or not, my first experience with GalCiv was a *pirated* version of the old OS/2 GalCiv I. I got it from a friend who said that I had to play this, and I wouldn't put it down once I did. He was right. I liked it so much that I immediately went out and BOUGHT the game. I figured that these guys deserved my money for the quality game they put out on a shoestring budget. Bill

In the original GalCiv v 2.0 - on the OS/2 platform, BTW - the terror stars were scary indeed. One of the civilizations would get Terror Stars and you'd know it because suddenly you'd hear something that sounded a lot like a Star Trek phasor beam followed by a message about colonies being DESTROYED and not conquered or attacked.

The only + bug that I can see is if you load a game and then do it, it gives you a default new game, instead of a game with the same setrtings as your loaded game. I suppose you have to START a new game before you can + . (Starting a new game under said conditions *will* work if you manually do "new game" from the menu.) Bill

I've noticed that if you try to auto-update to 1.52.013, it fails to download the replacement files, so every time you log back into SDC, it asks if you want to upgrade to 1.52.013. Fortunately, if you actually go to the link, it works correctly. For all of you with problems after upgrading, you might want to go to the actual link and download it from there. Bill ~SDC~
Hmm seems at least one of the mayor (imo) bugs are still there:The incorrect reserach point calculation. I was trying to finish a galactic wonder and a research project on the same turn, so I tveaked the sliders until I got what I wanted, or rather until the status showed that I would get it. But no I did not get the research project, so now I hvae to either waite another turn wasting research or reload and try again. Will this bug be fixed or will we have to live with it?Another bug that'
Is there any way to get rid of all the "Trade route destroyed" messges that happen when you start a war? They are getting in the way of my planet explosions
This is probably part of the trade route bug fix. I think they couldn't find the reason why the trade routes weren't getting cleaned up after taking over a star system with a trade route with you, so they did the next best thing - they re-routed through a clean-up routine that they KNEW worked - that is, the one whe

One question: I've succesfully "auto" renumbered the starbase file with the GalCiv Writer (started by a fantastic Author - continued by a super Empire!), but my constructor still doesn't want to actually add the module. It goes through all the motions, but when you finally click on "apply," the constructor stays there and nothing is built. Do I have to start a new game in order for the changes to take effect? (I started out using the unmodified one, then modified it and reloaded the

I have downloaded a mod that has starbase modules that have numbers that don't take up where the standard ones leave off, causing them to be unusable. Is it okay to create (using GalCiv writer) a mod with a bunch of dummy starbase moduless that have no attributes to fill in the missing numbers? Hopefully it will bridge the gap and do nothing else (except maybe eat up a small amount of memory)? I am hoping that since there would be no references to them in the tech tree, etc, it won't affect t
I don't need the screenshot for the Arcean thing. That's a bug that I'm going to have to find by examining the code.
I would guess that the problem is because the AI wants to trade a tech, but either the player doesn't have anything the AI wants, or vice-versa. However, I've seen it handled by the Altarians (for example) by having the Altarians say something like "just keeping channels open in case you wanted to trade something." Update - GalCiv reinstall: Too easy! Minor glitch - forgot to archive the multimedia stuff so (fortunately I also backed up the entire StarDock directory to the network - just in case of something like this!) so I just copied all the folders over to the new one and it works fine. :) Thanks, Cari!
