Gary: Click on Metaverse, than click on top empires, than click on European Alliance and at the buttom, click join empire :) Whew...finally cracked the 10k score :p Tech victory, on gigantic, on high levels + population will give you higher scores...afaik :)
Dr No Chance. I had something similar, but thats on previous versions. Had an alliance victory but on the summary page it says culture victory. But thats because my alliance and culture victory were at 100%. Could that have been your case?

Just completed playing on a gigantic map at challenging level. Notice the problem with the cash. I remember one time when i have + net flow, but at the end of every turn i lose money...didn't concerned me, i just re-adusted the tax and the amount to spend on tech/mil/sol. After that, it seems to go up and go down...odd Alt-tab....works ok for me. Im currently running win2k Ship disappearing? didn't happend with 1.03. But it did occured once with version 1.02 with starb
Yea, crank out those colony ships and research asap...totally ignore all social improvement. If you are lucky, the computer AI will only have 1 or 2 systems where as you will have 4 - 5. Also, keep an eye out on the minor's...when they are being attacked by another AI, keep at least 2/3 combat transport near by, so when the enemy AI destroys all protection on minor, move in and grab the planets ;)

Update, don't update...if the game is working for you, than just enjoy the game and wait until a separate patch is released... If you can't play the game due to god know reasons, there are plenty of thing to do than seat in front of the monitor playing computer games or than again, you can play other games....
