Hi! You can also set the intelligence of the other races at "random". ... you will most likely end up with some on Normal, 1-2 a level higher and 1-2 a level lower than Normal. That's pretty correct. However I strongly recomend NOT doing that. The races with higher "inteligence" will have too much an advantage over races with low "inteligence". Even with all AIs at the same level I've noticed some are really too weak

Hi! The only map size I like playing on is Gigantic. Unfortunately, mid to late game the thing tends to crash more often than not. I'd suggest you using smaller map first and see if game still crashes so often. The other thing you may check is "Throttle frame rate" (or sth. similar) at game's Graphics settings. Maybe your graphics card is overheating and causes reboots. BR, Iztok

Hi! Military: 3 Social: 20 Research: 31 Colony Mng: 51 Leases: 44 Bonus Prod: 12 The panel with numbers you presented was never very accurate. In your case I'd say it's you're charged for a half of bonus production. In your case that would be 6 BC + some display rounding error, and we're at missing 5 BC. BR, Iztok

Hi! > i mean make a wall of scouts or other cheap vessels, it will stop the others > getting in and taking planets. How so LostHero ?? Easily. Start game with cheats on, generate 500 ships and teleport them to position you want to form a wall. Piece of cake. See LostHero, I play metaverse games just because they prove there's some experience behind my words here on forum. Currently we have only your word there's experience behind your p

Hi! if you could get around to responding to it since its an example of a bad game. He'll probably not. The Real Life Issues made him go for a couple of months. got a good game going but somehow I think the AI was ahead of me in research even though I was just building research buildings. At Suicidal AIs have the base bonus +300% to research and production, PLUS they got significantly more points to spend in r

Hi! It's not the power plant that gave you veird results. It's the focus. It seems to me that it doesn't work right when there's no production in either social or military queue, and focus is on one of them. However I'm too lazy to check what's really going on. BR, Iztok

Hi! > Ultimately, I suspect that the +30% to Espionage spending is a bug. I'm fairly certain > that no one in Stardock would ever wish 'gee, I wish I could spend more than 25% > of my economy on my spy network Nope, that's exactly what it's supposed to do. Can you please suggest Stardock that this is really a nonsese. IIRC older model DECREASED costs of espionage by stated percent; i.e. at 20% bonus I paid 100BC for 120 BC spent. <

Hi! I suspect the reporting discrepancy is a result of some type of limit. I will have to investigate further to determine more precisely what is happening. Please do! The reported 50% free bonus production from abilities and starbases is way off the results players are getting. Like yours: details screen: the planet produces 61mp per turn at 60/20/20 (M/S/T); summary screen: the planet produces 44mp per turn; mana

Hi! If Brad ever explicitly says something like that, then the issue is settled. I remember reading his post about sliders: he didn't want to change the way they work because of the AI's sake. Probably he'd need to change too much of the code from the GC-1 to make them "think" properly. However we're slowly getting some progress with the way sliders work: - In GC-1 ALL production from ANY empty queue was lost. So in the mid-game it was a m

Hi! Did you ever wonder what weapons to use? Now I can give you two clear answers: if you've chosen Evil, use Psionic Beam. For other alignments, use missiles throughout the whole game. Since posts here are lost in a matter of days, I posted it on wiki: Ship design strategies under Further analysis of weapons. BTW I dowloaded the the original spreadsheet, but I can't remember from where. However prices an

Hi! Does this mean that the AI can buy twice per turn? Basically at turn 0 or game load they buy a factory, queue another and "press" Turn --> with suicidal bonus the queued factory is built. At turn 1 (my first turn) I have the chance to look at their planets, so I see 2 buildings. Nothing illegal, but the turn 0 they get at each game load - and starting the game probably also involves game load. BR, Iztok

Hi! I was referring to early in the game when you are trying to get your economy percolating, with maybe 4-8 economic starbases with minimal defenses. I see. However even then it's next to pointless building specialized trade SBs, because: 1) trade routes are just starting and their value is low - 10% or 30% of 5 is how much? 2) freighters will be out of SB area in 15 turns, 3) most of traders will be on their way to different neighbours to m

Hi! With cheap small hull constructors and multiple trade routes you can break even costwise in a turn or two. Erm... do you also calculate the 5BC maintenace cost for every starbase? And additional sub-logistics building costs for 30th ot 50th of 100th starbase? And who'll defend them when those infamous pirates appear again? In GC-1 trade was great. I remeber having a game where 2/3 of my income was coming from trade. In GC-2 DL the trade

Hi! Anyone able to confirm or refute this? I just checked: tiny suicidal game, 9 AIs, cheats enabled. I revealed the map and checked homeworlds with my spy. A half of them had already 2 buildings BUILT, another half had 1 building built and another one in queue. Those with 2 finished buildings had the third building finished after I pressed the Turn button for the first time. To repeat again: they had 3 finished buildings besides starting Civ capital and

Hi! This type of active dynamic doesn't lend itself to study very well. So why don't you set the experiment in a less dynamic universe: like just 1 opponet with fool/beginner inteligence, no other AIs, and with cheats on? IMO you're going in too much details with researching efficency of the trade-enhancing SBs. Build in significant numbers they're too costly to pay for themself in a reasonable time. Also, trade routes that they're supporting ten

Hi! build multiple economic bases at the start of trade routes to increase trade income. This can really add up. This is a place where you can use those cheap small hull constructors since they don't have far to go. Please note that building trade-enhancing SBs could be a big waste in Dark Avtar, as there it's much more difficult to get high enough espionage level to avoid assasination event. The "secret meeting - war has expanded" event can also destroy

Hi! "Avoid war" sounds good on paper (well, on the monitor), but my opponents often take that choice away from me, especially on the higher levels. If you don't have any military, you'll soon be targeted. However current AI looks ONLY at the military score, not on your existing ships, so you can use that in your advantage with fake defenders: a cargo hull with cheapest attack-1 gun, missile and beam weapon, that stays in orbit all the time, so its attack

Hi! I have 8 research centers on the planet ... Heh, I am almost ready to flip AFAIK one flips when he has researched most of the tech tree. Why would you like to flip in mid-game? candidate for manuf. capital By all means use the planet with precursor mine. You can also redirect resources from asteroids to that planet. However you can use a secondary planet for ship production, and that can easily
