Hi! I also had a few rebellions below 50%. That's strange. AFAIK there's no rebellion because of low approval. Influence rebelions yes, and they happen faster with low approval, but players reported running planets at 20% approval for many years (but the election week) without a single rebellion. BR, Iztok

Hi! In the final stages of my last game, population didn't seem to max out until I was down to 37% approval. Which seems like a very odd number. You probably had one turn of growth at ~41% approval, and the amount of grown population was big enough to bring down approval from 41% to 37%. That fast drop grom one turn growth is pretty typical for a very large population. BR, Iztok

Hi! the planet (NO MATTER WHAT!!) can only support 20billion people. Errm, not true. The cap is 100B pop, but to get there, a planet needs 14 best farms, and ~15 VRCs to hold that amount of pop above 50% approval at 59% tax level. BR, Iztok

Hi! Which factors effect tax income of a colony? Here are factors I know off. Negative (please note most of those are paid from treasury): - maintenance costs of buildings on a planet, - base production (construction and research), - bonus production from abilities, buildings and econ starbases (you pay only a half of its costs) - game version (Dark Avarar gives 20% less money from taxation than Dread Lords). Positiv

Hi! appears to be hacked. Not likely. If it would be hacked, it would display some message from the hacker (I'm speaking from the first-hand experience ). IMO it's more likely an error made by SD staff when maintaining the site. BR, Iztok

Hi! But where should I put things like Galactic Privateer or Hyperion Shrinker? I usualy build them on a planet with a reasonably good production, so it's build in reasonable time. Most of my big planets have at the end of the game one or two of those "wonders". However I don't really specialize planets, so there's not much loss for me when 1 of 15 tiles goes to sth. else. It shouldn't be for you too: it's just price of doing bussines. <img src="http://im

Hi! cheats are pointless i mean come on ppl do you really need to cheat in this game. Yes, I do. When I'm crunching numbers of that oh-so-much transparent game it's much faster to cheat half way through the tech tree or generating a dozen of ships or filling up a whole planet in one turn, than waiting for game mechanics to get there after one hour without actual playing. Hi! Checked, and Range is NOT working correctly. Did you include the galaxy size modifier into your checking? There's a huge difference between same-design ship ranges in tiny and gigantic galaxy... And don't foreget the 7 sectors range cap... There's a lot of pc vs sct QA related issues in the whole game Not only for pc vs sct, also for many other things. But developers correct them with the time, if w

Hi! I have galciv2 gold edition which includes dark avatar I don't know what's the situation with the CD edition (I downloaded the game), but I have two separate folders with two programs: GalCiv2.exe and GC2DarkAvatar.exe. Try finding GalCiv2.exe. It should run standard GC-2 with human campaign. BR, Iztok

Hi! I've recently spent a deal of time testing some of the subtler aspects of each race's home system. Good one report! Thanks for sharing the info. Thalan Empire: Homeworld - Thala ...PQ 15+1+1+1 (18) (+10% Plt Approval) Looks like Thala would need 3+3+3 terra tiles, and Toria and Arcea 2+2+2. Probably also Earth and Korx. BTW your numbers for arceans' Hammer don't add up correctly. BR,

Hi! Thanks for the effort, but you provided an overly complicated answer to a simple question. You want simple answers? Well, here's one: 48. Either a simple "Yes, there is a limit. It is so and so." I did exactly that. But I can't give a simple AND correct answer on a simple question about a complex issue. My o

Hi! I spend the first 5 or 6 turns rush-building colony ships Sorry, but that's a death warrant. Don't rush-buy more than one ship. Better buy/build 5 factories and in 5 turns start producing a colonizer each second year for the next 30 turns or so, while still holding most your colonies at 100% approval to get 100% boost to their pop growth. Hi! is there a limit to how much your polulation may grow in a single turn? I had a testbed planet, where I grew over 0.5B pop per turn, and the race was not Super Breeder. However those 0.5B was from unreasonably large amount of Fertility Clinics (IIRC 13), and the race had almost all possible boosts to its growth (but starting 40%). If I'd crunch the numbers, a maximum growth ability would be composed of: - 40% from design, - 10% fro

Hi! Then how best to develop the PQ26 colony? IMO it depends on what "capitals" are still avilable. Also, changing it into the manufacturing capital would be an overkill - you'd need a really good economy to support it, and you'd also have significant losses with building cheap ships (wasted mil production: money over the price of a ship doesn't return to treasury, like money for buildings). Since you didn't mention any research bonus, I'd turn the planet

Hi! In DA, you can choose any adjacent square to be the launch square for a planet, on a per planet basis. You can even change launch directions several times within one turn. Even worse. The landing and launching on/from a planet doesnt't count as a move. If you have planets 1 square apart you can move ships accros them for free. A resurected GC-1 glitch IMO. BR, Iztok

Hi! do the AIs always get colony ships very fast There's a very simple way to produce a colonizer on the HW each second turn, and keep producing them for at least a half of a year. At the very beginning AIs are a bit faster by outright buying some, but that kills their early game economy, and as consequence their production of colonizers. On medium difficulty levels they're never a match to a skilled human player. So you're either playing on very high dif

Hi! How does the military timeline calculate your military strength? mil. strenght = (sum of all attack) + (sum of all defense) + ((sum of all HPs) / 10) Formula includes all possible bonuses (mil. resources, abilities, bonus HPs, bonus attack from orbiting...). Mightily deceptive, because it doesn't take in account "right" and "wrong" defenses. BR. Iztok

Hi! Advice on Suicidal Gigantic Map My advices: 1) Play gigantic maps only if you enjoy organizing invasion ~450 times. 2) Don't play suicidal. No offense, but according to your map it's waaaaaaaaaay over what you're able to handle. if anybody has come back from a situation like this I haven't, because I'm too good at GC-2 to end with 10 planets where I could grab 50+. But at "suicidal" that would stil

Hi! the ships only have that movement the turn of their creation (ie 1 turn) at which point they are reduced to 3 or 5 boxes per turn afterwards Reduced to 3: your ship is in Yor's influence zone. Reduced to 5: mega-event permanently reduced all speeds to max 5. BR, Iztok

Hi! I have colonized 3 PQ1 worlds and each of them is giving me messages that the people are looking to an AI who seem better. The first problem with those low PQ planets is they don't have any influence bonus, so you get influence points only from amount of population, buildings, and from your civ ability. The second one is the calculation of influence for them is flawed (DA, 1.5 and 1.6 beta). On some planets it doesn't recalculate until you h

Hi! I thought it was +10% for crippling, +25% for Maso, +50% for obscene and +100% for suicidal. That's what it says in the manual anyway. I'm affraid manual is very outdated. You can check their bonuses with a spy and a little summing. The best would be a just established colony without other buildings. Just check with the spy what's its maximum output. In my first suicidal game Humans had 39 TP from that initial colony withour any starbase and resource
