Hi! Honestly, there's a lot of possibilites when it comes to nebulas. We just gotta be creative! And who will be creative with the AI to make it use those new environments properly? BR, Iztok

Hi! There's absolutely no reason a planet should occupy a parsec (that's 3 light years, give or take) of space square for example. I understand why it's the way it is and it doesn't really bother me, but you can't really make any astronomical arguments about a game where Earth is 4 light years from the sun. Look at that this way: hyperwarp engines work efficiently only in deep space. Close to gravity wells they slow down. Since planets and star are those,

Hi! I could stay at 6B and use farm/happy tiles for factories/labs and be much better off? Tax-wise likely yes, because if you'd build 2 Stock Markets, they would give you 50% increase in tax revenue, while doubling your pop with one farm and one supporting morale building (growing pop from 6B to 12 B) would give you only sqrt(2)=1.41 more taxes. Howerver I still haven't checked the DA validity of money-producing formula <a href="https://www.galciv.wikia

Hi! I don't know if there is a maximum limit. Pop limit is 100B, hardcoded. Does PQ influence the maximium population? No, each PQ has it's own pop limit, to which the pop will GROW by itself, but above PQ-17 it is 100. Check Wiki under Rough numbers. BR, Iztok

Hi! What does population do? Provides money from taxes and troops for invasion or defense. It also increases influence on a given planet. That's all. BR, Iztok

Hi! Does upgrading say, a basic factory to a factory, cost as much as a building a factory on an empty tile (75 mps) or is there some sort of discount? There is a some discount for buildings of the same type. However if you upgrade to another type of building, it sometimes costs you MORE than a new building would cost. Before actually building/upgrading you better check its costs in planet list: on chosen planet click the project and in a pop-up window yo

Hi! What does huge hulls and weapons from the end of the tech tree prove? Most games will not last long enough to see ships like that. It proves the validity of both extreme concepts: all-attack ships without single defense until defenses tech is low, and most-defense-low-attack ships when one can mount on a single ship enough defenses to block attack power from a whole fleet. I agree the huge hull is mostly late-game tech, but large hull is qu

Hi! > Ascendancy had a wonderful direction, and feel. And as mentioned, not much of an AI. Actually there is an AI update patch floating around on the internet, though I've never played with it much myself. It's called Antag, but doesn't do much else as every race you meet declares war on you in the next turn. But the game really loked beautiful, compared to MoO, and movement in the 3d space was also great. I'd say great concept, but brain-dead A

Hi! Haven't had a chance to look at updating it, sorry Why sorry? IMO you should appologize only if you'd be paid for making it and wouldn't make it. It's all covered in the stickied thread in the Beta Reports forum Thank you! BR, Iztok

Hi! A new one simulator that would incorporate Dark Avatar combat rules would come handy. I'd made one for myself, but I can't find that article where a developer explains new rules. BR, Iztok

Hi! see that is just absurd to me... no population no matter how "entertained" could stand for that kind of universal tax rate, what good is the best entertainment in the universe if I have no money with which to buy it?! It's a game. It works in that game. That's enough for me. Speaking of absurdity: don't you think the whole computer gaming is absurd? Sitting several hours per day in a front of some flat surface watching there how some strang

Hi! He was fighting the Drengin super-dominator corvettes Thanks for explanation. However do those corvetes "scale" with the tech level of the game? I mean: at the start those could be strong, but in mid-game where ships have 20-30 attack ... BR, &nbsp&nbsp&nbspIztok

Hi! I can't attack them because then no one at all will trust me. Send some cheap ships with troop modules close to their planets any they'll soon declare war on you. BR, Iztok

Hi! I never had a problem with higher class planets and large populations using this method until Dark Avatar. In very first versions of GC-2 it was quite easy to get really big planets to 100B pop. But that planet generated ridiculous amount of influence and money, so developers made costs to make such a planet go skyhigh by implementing rapidly decreasing morale. In early games I too used to grow pop to about 15-20B, but I soon noticed that the morale i

Hi! But I truly believe attributing your winning ways to defense is quite mistaken. I strongly disagree. He found a loophole in game, that allows him to re-use the same ships(s) again and again, lowering his costs to only a small fraction of what would cost a "standard" approach, where he'd be constantly losing ships. It is true that with enough time his opponents would adapt to his huge defenses, but it that time he could gain so much advantage in form

Hi! Defence too powerful!! (perhaps) That's really funny. Low tech defences are next to useless, high tech defences make ships, that can afford them, "uber" powerfull. I doubt that was what Stardock intended with the change. BR, Iztok

Hi! Check debug.err in your game folder, on what intelligence level they're really playing. Thge geniuous should be at about 80. There's a bug with game restart (ctrl-N) in DA campaign, that dumbes down AI for several levels. It might happen also in normal games. BR, Iztok

Hi! Just 8 points of Duranthium armor in a Tough game I'm playing allowed a single medium hull cruiser armed with two Nanorippers to fend of an onslaught of 15 five small ship fleets of Drengin ships. You sure you're playing DA and not DL? BR, &nbsp&nbsp&nbspIztok

Hi! if you can protect a galactic recource far away from your worlds, then thats when you don't need it! Here's the catch: I don't protect them at all. I just take them, and besides the one or two constructors used for some basic armament I also don't upgrade them much. There are two reasons for that: 1) I deny them to other AIs, 2) In case we go to war, they have to send after that SB more than just a simple fighter to kill it. And while their fl

Hi! I too was confused why my PQ 4 planet had a supposed cap of 8 billion with a farm, yet only housed a max of ~2 billion. It still has a cap of 8 billion (9B BTW). The population will not GROW over planet limit, but if you'd dump there a 8B, and there's enough food to feed them, it would remain at 8B forever. BR, &nbsp&nbsp&nbspIztok

Hi! Economy help In GC2 & Dark Avatar ... in 10 points 1. When creating a race, always pick 30% econ bonus, and at least 25% growth bonus, and a point for 10% morale. Yeah, that doesn't leave much for picking, but it gives you am excellent econ-performing race. 2. When playing, DON'T buy ships, but build them, and DON'T buy installations on colonies. Buy only the first and second factory on your HW. Build so many factories to produce a colony

Hi! This is where the AI looks like it doesn't think most. I always, always plant an influence building when I get a bonus influence tile I never, never, never put an influence building on a bonus influence tile, (save Stock Markets). But I have to add that I never, never, never build any influence building at all. Why shall I do that when the closest AI planet is i

Hi! what's the best early wonder? diplomatic translators would be my favourite. After playing the last two DA campaign missions without bonus growth I'd say Aphrodisiacs. Compared to previous missions, where I had 40% and 25% bonus, those planets of mine just didn't grow, despite all being held at 100% approval. Because of low pop I've been in deep deficit spending (7 planets, -250BC per week on average), 500M for a colonizer was a big hit, and invading was si
