Maybe all the Civs could propose a resolution and one of them is chosen randomly? I know I should have read the manual but AFAIK there is no way of knowing which resolution is going to be voted on in the next meeting. Sometimes this would help so I could trade for some influence points to turn the vote in my favor. :)

I am running it on a dual processor machine but I have never checked if it actually uses both processors.
Since you have the same problem with DX9 and newer drivers I don't see any reason to upgrade. I'm thinking about getting a new Radeon card (not for Galciv but to be able to play other current games). I guess that will lead to other problems. The GeForce is slow nowadays but I never had stability issues with it...
Bug: Trade route limit not lifted after alignment change In one of my last games I started out as evil (most of the time I just can't resist +20% PQ colonization events). Then there was a UP resolution limiting evil civs to just one trade route. As I was doing a lot of trading this threatened to ruin my economy/game. In the next couple of events I took the good path and my alignment changed back to neutral (later to good). When I turned neutral is was still not allowed to open m
I have DirectX 8.1a. My hardware does not even support most of DirectX 8 features so I thought it wouldn't help much to upgrade. Of course I can run GalCiv after rebooting, I just prefer not having to reboot before I play. :) I upgraded the graphics card drivers (Detonator v41.09 on a GeForce 2MX) but that was before I first installed GalCiv. I had this happend twice since the release of the game so it does not occurs very often. As Starvald suggest it might
Hi Starvald, the PC was up for quite some time. I used it to surf the internet and for several sessions of Galciv before it locked up. ~SDC~
This issue happend to me weeks ago with a different Galciv version, now it has shown up again with version 1.03A: When I start Galciv the screen goes blank and instead of showing the introduction movie nothing happens. I can switch to other apps using Alt-Tab and some of them can be closed by Alt-F4 but the screen stays blank so I cannot really see what I'm doing. I can do Ctrl-Alt-Del but selecting the Taskmanager in order to kill Galciv does not help me either. It
I tought starbase defense was pretty weak, too - until I first researched Avatar/Overlord Killer modules. :) What I would like to see added is an "armor" module that would increase the hitpoints of a starbase. But maybe I just have not researched it yet. I always win by culture before I get to research to the end of the tech tree.
SupremeBanana: Thanks, now I finally got my nickname changed. ~SDC~
I would also like to know how I can change my user name. The latest version drives also has a very annoying "feature": Its CPU usage jumps to 100% in regular intervals and it does not respond anymore during that time. This is driving me crazy! Is there any option I could set that would stop it from whatever it is trying to do? ~SDC~
Just a few minutes ago I had GalCiv lock up, too. It happened while I was trading. I had the popup open to enter an amout of money I was going to ask from the Aliens. (Don't remember the race as I was going to sell my tech to everybody to get my empire funded.) I must have pressed the wrong key because GalCiv stopped responding. Unfortunately I could neither switch to the desktop nor bring up the taskmanager. So I decided to reboot the machine. (Ctrl-Alt-Del still worke
@Mythor Thanks a lot, Mythor! Now I found out that my game submissions did work after all. I had no idea that my Metaverse score could be higher than the maximum score I got in a game but apparently it is. I assumed it would be either the best score achieved or an average or the scores. The funny thing is that my scores are getting lower with every game. As I learn the game better my victories get quicker and therefore I have less tech, less population, et
I have ad blocking software running (Proxomitron) but it does not make a difference if I disable it. I managed to submit one game so far with the inofficial patch and dll installed. Now it doesn't work anymore. :-( This morning I found that there is another new build available. I'm going to try that tonight. It would be nice if there was some feedback after pressing the submit button. Right now you have no idea wether it submitted anything at all or if it just submitted ga
I got it to work once with the inofficial patch and sdnet.dll installed. With the official patch (even Mondays build) it is broken again. I have submitted a couple of games but none of them made it to the metaverse :( Markus ~SDC~
I downloaded Sundays version and it did not fix the duplicated wonder problem. Trade goods seem to be unique now though. Markus ~SDC~
@Panzerdoetter Maybe you are evil? ;)
I think it is good that the Drengin make the game a little bit more difficult at beginner level. I suppose if the Altarians were better it would be much too easy (for a good aligned player) to team up with them to win the game. The Altarians should not ignore good quality worlds when they are close by though. I'll keep an eye on what they do next game.
Hi! I am currently in my second game. All AIs set to beginner (I'm still learning). The Drengins seem to be the only civ (other than me) that is making progress. The Altarias for example did not colonize at all - even though they had a quality 18 system in the sector next to their home sector. I built two star bases to reach that system all across the galaxy (medium size). The Torians and Yor aren't doing much better. Due to their weakness the Yor and the Altarians have alr
When you right click Galactic Civilizations in the Software section of SC there is a 'Restore archive' option as well. Have you tried that one too? I have just started "downloading and archiving" the game as well and it wouldn't be fun downloading it again tonight instead of playing... :( ~SDC~
