User friendly suggestions based on civ3: 1. A graphic tech tree that allows choice of a target tech and shows clearly all the techs required on the way. In the same vein, a right click to get info on any tech in the tree, and a link to a comprehensive "civilopedia" with game info. 2. An option to slow down or remove all the ship movements between turns. It is just too fast to see what is going on now. You cannot even be sure if that was a ship attacking you, where it happened,

Can anyone explain how the various factors work in ground combat so you can estimate the chances of winning under different choices? e.g. is the "advantage" factor multiplied by the number of troops and compared with the same for the defence? Or what? And what role does the random multiple (e.g. 9:1)determined by the space bar play in the calculation? What role does the "tech" factor play? As it is now, it is all just a mysterious black box. Is there a rule of thumb anyone has worked out for how

Trade goods cost typically about 200 bc to develop. But when I offer to pay another civ for the "licence" they demand about 1000 bc for just 1 month, which seems ridiculous. No business for them. It seems to be the same pattern for all civs and goods. Has anyone succeeded in licensing a trade good at a reasonable price?

Tip: I just downloaded the update. It took about 10 seconds. If you right click the highlighted line "version 1.01 etc...") you will see that you can hit "Ctrl+P" for "download install" and "Ctrl+D" for "download and archive". Frogman says to AVOID the archive, or you will get all 85MB. I chose "Ctrl-P". Now it may just be that the reason people are getting 85MB downloads is because they hit "update" and the DEFAULT is "Ctrl-D"! (Can Frogman confirm?). So play safe, use "Ctrl+P".

It is far too easy to maintain control of your senate by simply lowering the tax rate the month before the vote and getting over 50% approval. The rest of the time you can be gouging the people, but they seem to have no memory. Is this not a bug? It should take longer to change the approval percentage. Are there other downsides to excessive taxation that I have missed?

Has anyone looked seriously at this yet? Preliminary study indicates a rather advanced probability model, even for just two ships, and I don't want to reinvent the wheel if someone else has done the theory already. I recall seeing a post on this but can't find it.
