RayChua: I'm sorry but my jaw just hit the ground. I was SURE that your connection with the White Council, and your earlier post about Ents etc meant you were a Tolkein fanatic. Your knowledge of Tolkein must come from the movies. Just goes to show you can never assume. I haven't read much lately either since I got Galciv; still BUYING the books but just not READING the books. Oh well, must finish my small map- I want to OWN the small map market. Just stay away from the small maps...please?

RayChua, I've never run for money. And I can see a potentially unholy triumvirate forming. ;)
RayChua, The soon-to-be-renamed White Council is doing pretty good in the rankings! Congrats. And if you are a fantasy reader maybe check out some of my favorite trilogies (not actually High Fantasy) Garth Nix: starts with 'Sabriel' and Cecilia Dart-Thornton starts with 'The Ill-Made Mute'. Cheers. :)
Space Wombat mate, aren't you excited?? You are number 25 in the world!!* *Note: 10.15 EST
Kiwi Greg: I think they are still sorting out kinks in the system. There have been large maps submitted...
Pontius, I can hardly name He Who Is Not Spoken Of, coz then I would've spoken of him. Let me just say that it is a nickname which he wouldn't chosen for himself, which is the only type of nickname I've ever come across. And I think pink would be a nice change, or possibly lilac.
Mate: do you have any idea how hard it is to get people to join an Empire? Free AFL 2003 Grand Final tickets didn't work, so lots of luck...
Mates, HAVE YOU CHECKED OUT THE NEW SORTING MECHANISM FOR THE METAVERSE!!!! Are Stardock and Frogboy heroes or what! And I've seen a deficiency in He Who Is Not Spoken Of's gaming strategy: he sucks at some map sizes! Woo hoo.
Slitherin: I have no idea how the scores are calculated. I am not entirely sure that Pontius's advice of submitting losing scores is actually good advice, but, Pontius has rarely been wrong so I'll try subitting the dozen or so losing games I have kept and see what happens. And mates: HAVE YOU CHECKED OUT THE NEW SORTING MECHANISM FOR THE METAVERSE!!!! Are Stardock and Frogboy heroes or what! I can see a new tactic: let's OWN the small map ladder. (As at 9.30am Monday) Ralegh is 5,
See ya 'round TheQuack!
Now, now, MM77. I was actually inspired by Wordsworth. But I think perhaps you are right and your verse does capture the moment. Gerakken has some very good points too. :)
That's great Slitherin! The new scoring actually makes the Metaverse more fun I think, because there will be more movement (up AND down) the ladder as each game is posted. That should keep everyone interested in the Metaverse as a concept. Don't you dare join The Council of Many Colours (as it will soon become).
Well I voted for Space Beavers twice. Anyway, its hard to believe that Canadians would 'cheat' at anything.
RayChua, it has a certain ring to it. But Wormtongue would never have uttered Elvish! I think perhaps Tom Bombadil would be better. Hmmm, yes.... Old Tom Bombadil is a merry fellow; Bright blue his jacket is, and his boots are yellow... Yep, just call me Tom B from now on.
What a shame about the voting: I sorta liked 'Space Beavers'. And when is the next Commonwealth Games? Oh well, who cares.. Good luck Space Beavers. ;)
Forceinfinity: Of-course he did (but in The Return of the King as I think), and it seems all too likely that AFTER The White Council becomes The Council Of Many Colours, that they too will have their colours stripped from them and get blown away. Oh, Gilthoniel A Elbereth! (:(
And before I put my snappy sheep routine to bed, I can't get stop singing 'I've got snappy sheep' to the tune: "I've got happy feet". Do I need help? Has the CariElf Fan Club gambit tipped me over the edge, or was it the Pirate routine mateys. Arr!
Let me see, it's not often I'm inspired to poetry (but as only CariElf fans are reading this...) Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered on Galciv, weak and weary- No that's not quite the right tone... How about: She was a phantom of delight When first she gleamed upon my sight; A lovely appirition, sent To be a moment's ornament. Her eyes as stars of twilight fair, Like twilight's too her dusky hair; But all things else about her dra
Yellow Sign: Ahhh.... That has a certain twisted logic which means it must be true. In which case CariElf wouldn't actually "like" anyone per se (sorry MM77). She/he/it is programmed to respond in a certain cheery way, to apparent Galciv problems, but has no other EMOTIONAL commitment to the particular players. Now that's sad. CariElf say it isn't so... (:(
Ralegh, pretend you are giving directions to someone who is really stupid. How do you get to the new manual?
Good grief. I started to read the post by "I can win in my sleep" Staffa thinking, hallaleujah, he finally lost one, and 10 minutes later realised nup, another 7,000 or so points for G.R.O.S.S. ANZACs may be sheep in wolves clothing, but even we can't compete with the scoring machines of Staffa and Pontius. :notsure:
*Sigh* I can see the future. The White Council starts with good intentions... Yet it finds out about a cheesy game ploy known only to He Who is Not Spoken Of, and which leads to thousands of game points, and before you know it, it becomes the Council of Many Colours. Popup Target, you can be the Radagast of the soon-to-be-renamed White Council.
Well my soon-to-be acquired lilac or chocolate Burmese puss is going to be named CariElf and I don't care who knows. CariElf may be woman or man, but it doesn't matter. At the end of the day, when you have posted a problem and up pops CariElf with some breezy advice, or a "I'll look into it" you know that everything is gonna be alright. CariElf brings a human face and good cheer to the otherwise faceless computer geeks of Galciv. I just wish I had a Galciv problem at the moment... I'm proud
*Profanity* I cannot win on maso now. I started the same game about 12 times and tried every single strategy I could think of...absolute failure. Back to 'crippling' where every alien likes sushi and crispy skinned Torian. :notsure:
After: "ARR! Ye let yer guard down. The Battle of the South Seas will be ours. Beer, mateys! Me be raiding yer beer now! And after I drink me fill, on to Europe!"...I have so many pins in my eyes that I can't actually play Galciv at the moment. Well done Pontius...you were right on every single point about updating to later versions and integrity and dignity and wholesome rightnous. I'm the Suzie of Galciv and you're the Misty Hymen. *Sigh*: that silver medal sparkles doesn't it (he
