JD Walter, Thank you for a very clear explanation. I'm still a bit confused about the "Mining" modules however, as to me, that refers to mining the resource that the Starbase resides upon, yet it is under Mining modules that I see the originally confusing "nearby planet affecting" modules. I will just go on the basis that anything stating "nearby planets (or whatever it is)" ONLY affects the current sector and has no other effect. ~SDC~

One thing I noticed about my games that weren't showing: the Alias I used was more than 2 words. In reviewing the Metaverse I didn't see any names that were more than 2 words. Maybe it can't handle more than a single space in the string? ~SDC~

Thanks for the reply. I would like to propose that you not be allowed to build modules that will have no effect, unless I'm overlooking a reason that you might wish to do so. Also, by "mining a resource", this only applies to the initial creation of the starbase? If I'm upgrading a starbase and there are no planets in a sector, I still have module options under the Mining tab. Does this mean that I should or should not build those modules? ~SDC~

What do the different colors in the module "gear" mean? I've seen green, blue and yellow. And will the game allow you to build modules that have no effect, e.g. a module description may say something like "allows you to help production (or whatever) on nearby planets". What does this mean? How "nearby" do they have to be? You can build this module but is it actually going to do anything? And what is with the arrow next to the module? It can point left or down? What does it all mean? Where is thi

If you have ships on autopilot, you lose movement if they reach their destination and have movement points remaining. It just goes to the next autopilot ship and so forth. Have a game where the I-League blurb refers to them as the Kilawasians or something like that. ~SDC~

Well, I did it anyway (put the whole path into the options menu) and get the same results. It's obviously reading the file because the song titles are scrolling across the screen. How do I contact Stardock support to find out why this isn't working? ~SDC~

Za H, I place responsibility where responsibility lies. Making excuses is just that. I'm not concerned about offending people if speaking the truth offends. I'd just like to know why something as obvious as my example wasn't caught. No one can seem to give a legitimate answer. ~SDC~

Hey, something's actually in the "manual"! Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that all planets are showing No Resources for Military but it's still costing me 6 BC per turn. Something is not right. This game may end up going the way of Space Empires IV: a nice idea but the execution was lacking. ~SDC~

I am in a game where I have to drastically reduce spending because I got in over my head. I have reduced government spending to 0%. My Domestic sliders are at Mil34%/Soc33%/Tech33%. Both Soc and Tech show as spending 0 BC, but the Mil shows as spending 6 BC. Where is this amount coming from? I don't want to be spending anything! This game is quickly devolving into an exercise in frustration and either the beta testers dropped the ball or it was prematurely released. ~SDC~

I still can't get this to work. What am I doing wrong???? I used Windows Media Player to export a playlist to C:\. In the GalCiv options I put that path (C:\) into the Custom Playlist settings or whatever, and it found my list. I selected it and loaded it. Now I have no music, but at the bottom of the screen I see the names of the songs in the playlist madly scrolling, but nothing is playing. What is up with this? Where is the documentation for how to use this? Though I think t

SMAC is, hands down, the best computer game I've ever played. I spent more time with that game than any other in my life. I just bought a new PC and I'm resisting the urge to install it. ~SDC~
