Humm... let's see. For the price of Drengin.net subscription, you get how many games? Sounds like the average gamer will probably find something fun in that set. Of course, I'm talking out my socks on this, as I haven't subscribed to Drengin.net (I got my GalCiv retail). Still... I can understand loving a game and wanting to know if the developer is going to do anything to fix some problems in it. However, publicly badgering Frogboy further would be pointless. He's answered your que

So every time I want to even look for updates, I have to re-enter my serial number and email address? Or that is just for the original bonus pack? This doesn't make a lot of sense to this confused newbie. Pirates won't have a problem getting the game. There is always some dorko who will pack up the game and make it available to them, and someone to crack whatever needs cracking. So protecting updates does nothing but be bad customer service/relations, as only the honest customers will b
1) Keep an eye on your military. It's easy for it to roll over so you are going in the hole maintaining it, depending on your map size and available economy. The higher tech ships can cost "tons" each. 2) I tend to grab all 13+. Sometimes 10+, depending on the particulars of the map. Can be useful to have, depending on your needs and range. Each little world can help in the spread of the culture, after all. 3) No clue. I toss off those I like extra money and my overstock ships
Hey Yin! We know each other from SMAC days. ;) Brad released a 'beta' earlier. Seems the forum is not sure if the new official update is the same as that one. I'm running the dll from that release, as Brad said it should help in registering your games to Metaverse. So, GDC users are betaing the updates? Or merely get the fun of each incremental update? I am very hesitant to risk a mature system to something that has 'Deletes all files and directories' as a bug in its history. O
The first patch/upgrade is an gc.exe update, a dll update, and a multimedia to go with the gc.exe, IIRC. So how are pirates going to use that to run the game? Pirates probably already have the game on the warez and Usenet already. They had all the candidate release betas from what I've read here. As a retail CD purchaser, I'd prefer to not install GDC just to get a patch or update. Particularly considering GDC in the past deleted your hard drive, and has had numerous other prob
My question is: How can a retail buyer get this new update? Do I have to download the bonus pack again to get it? Or is this an independant update?
Sorry if I reported this earlier. Bug: Could not attack an enemy star system. It had one battle axe protecting it. The reason: tiny freighter was 'at dock' at the star that turn. Had to wait until the next turn to be able to attack the docked enemy battle axe. Note: Some 'Battle' named craft have a space between them and the their second part of their name (Battle Cruiser). Others are missing space. (BattleAxe). Looks odd for anything that isn't a Battleship.
Bug - Game Setup: Star Density isn't remembered between game sessions. Seems strange, as Size and Occurance are remembered over game sessions.
Last ship should move when you give it a destination. You can show lists of your planets and your ships (which includes your starbases). That's what some of the buttons along the bottom of the screen do. You can sort them by various ways in the side panel by clicking on the arrows near the name at the top.
Bug? Most likely. Option: Show Alien Ships. Screen jumps to show sectors where alien ships are moving. Problem is: Human Player does not have anything in sensor range to show those squares. Only happens where the fog of discovery has been dispelled. Bug? When aliens kill small freighters, their is an explosion on screen, but no sound. Sound is played when aliens kill constructors.
Yuri86... the graphics switch happens when your alignment becomes some form of "good". Choose some evil options at the next morale delima, and it will eventually swap off. Roland, I had the same problem. You get red screen on reload/resume because the save game is corrupted. The problem itself is probably because the AI is doing something naughty in the code. I believe that Star Dock will find the answer. Frog's says there will be a new update to fix some things on monday or so.
THANKS FOR THE TIPS! I re-registered my metaverse alias and serial number, and swapped in the new beta dll. When I won my second game and submitted that to Metaverse, both games went through! Hurray! Thanks! Fantastic support! Fantastic game! Thanks tons!
New bug: I had 2 battle axes fleeted together. I accidentally ran over a 'tiny' freighter. Got the notice that freighters are safe from attack due to UN law. The bug: When I clicked the done button, the window stayed. ***As that is a modal window, and no other way to dismiss it, this is a game killer.*** Works fine when lone ship, but goes into endless loop when fleeted.
Plot lines? Like in Castles? That was very cool! When you say re-register your player, what do you mean? Register again ? Nicks have to be unique, so you have to change that, right? I'm just looking to become a member of this fine place. And I'm rather proud of my first ever game, being a complete newbie, and managing to get not to embarassing for a first time...
Oh yeah! I noticed an animation glitch in base level star base for the blue nice guys. It is missing it's last frame, so it 'hops'. Very noticable when next to one of their bases they've moduled up by one level.
I've seen several of the problems listed here. Retail, updated to 1.01 with bonus pack. Could not submit my game to Metaverse. Saw three alien races build the same Trade Good. 2 on the same turn. Half my planets liked to build my 'once in a galaxy' deals, thanks to use of the generic build queue. I've got a set of zips for the corrupted save game. I had a CTD at my very first Cultural win. That autosave is corrupted. Going back to the previous-autosave, I missed the same Cultur
