Kornalius, bite me. I have done that. I'm on my third pass now. SDC still thinks it needs everything. And is still having issues getting GalCiv installed. I'm running a very standard config, thank you. NOT EVERYTHING WILL WORK FOR EVERYBODY. BUT SDC HAS A VERY HIGH USER ISSUE PROBLEM. How many people are complaining about GalCiv not working? I cannot recommend GalCiv as long as SDC is this counter-intuitive. SDC is their preferred method of distrubition. People are goi

Wow. No updates to the multimedia? Then it's just a reset for the normal time/daylight savings time deal?
LordTheRon, I've managed to not have any major SDC issues, other then the find the deeply hidden Gal Civ Serial number box, and the Download Everything to get a baseline issue, until today. I'm on my third reinstall now. It had trashed out my GalCiv. SDC is not a good product. I wouldn't allow my company to deliver something that troublesome to our customers. I know that many of my friends and relatives who like strategy games could not handle it. It needs loads of work.
Frogboy... that sounds like part of the GAME STRATEGY to me. You go to change that planet, see you are running it in LocalLuxuryGoods mode. Whoopsie! Should I do it and lose the morale bonus or not? You guys are adding in 'See the details of where your bonuses/mods are coming from' right? So then, you would get an idea of what that hit of swapping off it would amount to. Right? I could see it being a real issue for the AI, but the players? Ultimately, the player would have to decide. St
Chirotera, you are welcome. So you haven't gotten into SDC. Ok then. I don't recall the initial way to get that working. Sorry, cannot help you there. Good luck!
Unless, of course, you bought the game retail first. In which case, you have to uninstall the game and then try it all again. And sometimes that does not work. SDC Sucks BIG TIME! I've just stopped recommending GalCiv because of it. When SDC gets reliable, I'll tell my friends its worth the bother.
I've gotten VERY tired of telling people where that box is. It's buried too darn deep. Tools -> Registered products -> Drengin.net tab -> Application box : Set to GALACTIC CIVILIZATIONS and enter your SN and details there. Press Register when done. If successful, you may have to refresh/restart SDC to see the updates listed under the Software -> Dregnin.net tab.
Frogboy, I'd think a Capitilization and LocalLuxeries would be a simple way to utilize that 'lost' production. Capitilization would simply dump that production into user goods. Militarily, your shipyards are turning out local ships, such as yatch and what nots for local commerce. Socially, they'd be turning out GalCiv5000 DVDs and other simple consumer goods. Each X of whatever production turns into Money Units. Local Luxeries would just be dumping the production into Morale increasing
SDC sucks the biggest honking road apple you can find associated with Star Dock. It's very aggravating item. The curse you must put up with if you want the point releases. >:( You will not be able to see any GalCiv update listed until you've registered your serial number in the GALACTIC CIVILIZATION value box. Not the Drengin.net value box, in SDC.
Music fails. Unease.mp_ fails and constantly. Anyone else got this problem?
It's installed everything else just fine, as far as I can tell. I've deleted all it's music filed in the temp stuff. Crossing my fingers and doing it again...
Azog, the max the green for cash deal, as proposed, wouldn't stop you from doing that. Just don't hit the 'auto-max cash' button. ;)
Unease keeps failing. Is that the new bit?
Multimedia pack continues to fail to install. How interested. It is only pullind down a short bit, after its first 378 Meg download. But it fails in the installation with the error condition : Success. Gotta love that.
And the installation FAILED. SDC wants to do it again. Looks. Whee!
Humm... it's 378 Meg actually. How about that? That must be the new stuff?
I'm having to get the full 366 MB just to get the new one. Sorry gang. But that's just what it is doing. Coming across pretty fast for me, thank goodness.
I got the GalCiv update only. BUt the multi pack is all coming down. Sigh. Oh well.
Bonus pack is now 1.0.004 Multimedia is now 1.0.006
Nopers. When I updated, it was short and quick. However, the Multimedia shows updates, and that is taking the full 366 Meg. Sigh.
re: #1 It would be a very useful feature to have. Save many of us time in the tedium of clicking through stars looking for that world we wanted to colonize next. And it would be especially useful on the larger galaxies. Not that GalCiv isn't a wonderful game. These are just suggestions on reducing certain chokepoints of tedious time so that we players may have even more time with the more fun/strategic/challenging aspects.
Because SDC needs to pull down it's 'baseline'. Once it has the baseline, it will then only pull down the updated/new files.
It really is just a waste of the player's time, hunting for that boundary. And since Brad says you are supposed to squeeze the AI for every credit, it seems this would be an UI enhancement that would improve the gaming fun. Those that want the computer to do the number crunching, could have their computer do so at the press of the button. Those that don't can do it by hand.
Option to turn off random events. I'm very, very, very mad at the moment. I've had 3 good games ruined today by random events. Last game ruined featured this line up for random events: Space Sharks, Pirates, Space Sharks, Pirates, Space Sharks, Pirates. I also got to watch enemy transports immediately run across the univers whenever one of my worlds got clipped by the sharks. Er... does the AI get to know the state of my worlds at all times to begin with, or does it merely have
