Range +1 special bonus ability (setup abilites) does not appear to work on large maps. Is that because you already have it to start with (bonus for playing on large maps), or because it doesn't work?

Version 1.02.049 Military Production species bonus ability still does not appear to be working.
Why wouldn't it be legal to send a constructor? They aren't harmful, after all. And most cultural mods are peaceful thing. Come on, WATERPARKS? If you don't like it, just demand they hand that base over. :D And most of that space is empty in the first place. How can you own empty space? I'm just wondering what you reply will be. I can understand not like how people cross your 'borders', but in terms of the gameverse, how is that dangerous? What, are they going
It would be nice if they refreshed the planet screen while you are playing with the sliders in the economic screen. Yes, indeed!
Let's see... There's 12 turns in a year, right? I've had plenty of games with recessions that lasted 1200 turns. And longer. (That's right, 100 years. Whee! 2185 to 2285... recession!) Didn't even trouble me at the time. Of course, I was trade raping the AIs, selling them ships for a little bit now and lasting until the end of time. They'd pay for whatever they could get. Let me kill their economy completely... they couldn't afford to do anything but pay me. And the AI was too stupid to
Shipyards do work. You just have to have enough to work with to see any decent results. Remember, everything rounds down in GalCiv. So a +5% bonus will only work when you have a source of 20 whatever points for it to work on to begin with.
#6 correction: In Civ3, you cannot build a city on an opponents land, unless you are at war, not peace, with them.
Correction: SMAC, just like its ancestors Civ1 and Civ2, has several triggers in it for all AIs to ally against you. Among those triggers, is Human is very strong. Both Sid and Brian admit that, as they like military conquest games. "The tech angle is only there so you can get bigger units before the AI can, and therefore beat on it, as you know that they are going to backstab you in the future, so no reason for you to wait on it." That's a misquote from Brian. GalCiv seems like a game
Hyper warp is a common creative discovery event. I've gotten it plenty, and I've seen the AI get it occasionally (strangely enough, almost always the Dregs). You can increase your chance of such wild break throughs by taking 'Creative' as a trait. It doesn't really seem to make a difference from what I've seen, but hey, they don't want a serious breakthrough happening constantly.
It has always raced me to the resources. It still does. Colony race first (run like mad for the yellows), then resource rush like mad (it likes to double the resources up off the start), then research to strategy choice. That hasn't changed since the first game I've played. Hummm... now I won't know if I have really managed to improve my understanding of the game enough to have a good chance at the next level up, or if the AI has been lobotomized. Oh well, life's rough, I know. ;) <
In Civ3, you cannot build a city on an opponents land, unless you are at peace with them. Why not ask to retire the sectors, and have it go by squares out from planets/star bases? Base it on tech/influence to determine the multiplier out, and you could have a UP issue to set the limit. Where to different empires claim the same territory, in peace time, largest influence wins if there is a significant difference, neither if both are near each other, and neither owns it when at war. <
And it is not fixed in 049...
You still keep it. And I often set up deals for 200 turns, 500 turns, 1000 turns. The AI will deal for the entire game. It uses a pretty formula to calculate out the base value of an item, modified by your standing, and modified by your diplomacy (minus theirs), and with some fudge factor for the interest rate that you can mark up. I don't know the exact formula, mind you, but that's what seems to be the big modifiers from what I've seen. The computer also seems to lik
Thirded. Please add this to the wish list! Thanks! This would help in all those situations where the ships run under the window borders, but the screen doesn't recenter. Also would prevent condition where a ship would zip to the undecorated edges (left/right) and attack something offscreen, and you cannot see what was attacked. Thanks for the great game!
Sometimes, you have to re-register with Metaverse. I don't know why, but this has helped many that couldn't submit to the 'verse. Other things are : Don't run Seti@home in the background, and don't run Star Dock Central in the back ground. You do have to be online at the time, as well.
Version 1.02.049 There is a related bug... I accidentally scheduled 2 of my worlds to build a species unique (manu capital). After the first one was built, I was surprised to see the second one was still being built. And that reminds me... if a minor race builds a unique wonder, you can still build it. It won't clear out of your social list. So long as you don't swap, you can finish the wonder. It seems to only clear of a Major race builds the wonder. (You can still access buil
I'm saying it depends on how they made the windowed version. Some window apps, won't run unless they have focus. Some will run regardless.
Trade booster modules on your starbases along the routes. You didn't seem to mention that. I always run my frieghters from my capital out. This lets me maximize my trade boost. Also, economy resources are a big deal when you need some credit. Very good stuff.
For most full screen apps, yes. The behavior for a window app various though...
Sorry, that's 127 (fat fingered the number). That seems to be the limit...
Depends on how much exploring you do. I regularly have my first Survey ship running 137 HP with an attack of 40 and Def of 80. Nothing I've seen in the game will touch that. Just depends. The AI does not like to build new survey ships. So if you manage to pop theirs off early, they generally won't build another one. And your little Survey ship can run around, getting all those interesting item.
I've seen the Dangerous Animals event. It is included in one of the updates. I just don't know which one. I used to run the mods themselves. But since I've rebuilt/reinstalled GalCiv, I haven't taken the time to install them.
Version 1.02.042 Diplomacy : United Planets tab : Distribution of Voting Power - all values shown are 0. Just noticed this, after a UP vote. Second Issue : Had won Permanent Space Zoo previously. Vote came up, to place a Space Zoo permantently again. Won the vote again, went to see if I had 2 zoos now. Just had the new one. Is this a bug? Or was this instead a move to *RELOCATE* the already existing space zoo? Just curious.
Nicolas, wrongo. MoM came out years before MtG. It's MtG that is based on MoM. I got in on the alpha edition of MtG. It was some years (~5) after MoM's first publishing that MtG was published.
Game also demonstrates that after Drengin captured a world I was trading with, the trade route is still good. This allows me to source from my empire to the Drengin, twice. Drengin also has two routes to me, as well. And continues to try to establish another one.
