Unfortunately for some of us, that was/is true. However, so far, all my updates have been sweet and short. It's the price we pay if we want the frequent updates. GalCiv is worth the bother of the SDC, to me.
And that's going to overcome the stack problem? Not in the slightest. Ajbera, your idea is interesting. But I'd fill out my stack with scouts (as place holders), just to give my significant ships 2 shots to your lesser stack's one. And what you have just done is reduced the options the standard player will take in playing the game. When you have stacks, you *must* use them. Because the AI surely is. How much fun would it be building a stack to go fight? If you limit the size of
85 Meg is the full product. It wants to download the whole thing, I think, to form it's 'base' line. That's a matter of discussion in several threads here. Some people managed to get around it. I didn't. SDC has been reasonable on the other updates, past the first big one.
Terrain in space? >:( Give me a break. You already have your terrain in outer space. What's space's terrain features? Stars, primarily. Secondary? Rogue planets/asteroids/comets, black holes, and the odd string/nebula of gas. Guess what those resouce points are? Pu'lease. The only way to get more significantly realistic without affecting the actual fun and gameplay, is to go to a radius effect zone from planets and starbases. Whee! Stack combat? COu
Asharak... You are forgetting a division, a corporate division, between Brad's team, and the SDC team. Brad has stated here that he isn't involved with the SDC team. That means that he is the same as you and everyone else with SDC... just one more user for it. While he might get to actually talk face to face with the SDC team, he's not a member or in charge of it. Therefore, SDC is beyond his direct control (unlike GalCiv, which he is the lead on, and therefore he can go and 'f
Phaedyme, To match the Minor AI path (to compete with them), you have to dump everything into research for that path, then turn around and dump everything into building them. Then it is a race to who gets there first. Otherwise, they will always beat you.
Version 1.02.036 #1) Mercantiles Elected Why is it when the Mercantiles win the election (and I (Human) player am not mercantile faction), that the penalty for losing election majority includes their normal bonus? (-20 Trade -20 Espionage). This doesn't happen with other factions. #2) Planet Detail Screen Has the label Planet Quality. Does not have the actual value listed.
A... MOM? WHOA! I remember coresponding with QuickSilver's Lead Designer and Project Lead about MoO3, way back when. They both mentioned to me that they had the managed to negotiate an option to do Master of Magic 2, if MoO3 was a serious hit. Seeing as MoO3 didn't even stay in the top 10 for more then a week in NA sales, I doubt that qualified. Don't know how much bother it would be negotiating use of the license from er... let's see... it was a SimTex game, distributed by Microprose..
Just thought I'd mention... I just had 2 minor AI races build the same trade good. One a few turns before the other. Latest build (1.02). Er... I'm kinda surprised this is still in that game, considering how often it's been reported. I'm not *picking* on anyone, you understand. I think you and your team have done a fantastic job and I'm very happy with GalCiv. Its just that bug is so easy to repeat for me. Every game so far. ;) Thanks tons! That auto-launch sure is nice. Now, I just got
The flagship is their Survey ship.
Wow! Thanks for all the hard work! We are some kind of lucky customers! :CONGRAT:
Why bother when asking the forum gets the answer? I think that's the GalCiv version of Google. ;)
LOL! I always laugh at people that think if they don't have a seperate map to see their little men/ships/beasts/whatever duke it out on, there is no tactical. You've got your tactical on your main map. You've got to manueaver for advantage. That's tactics. D'uh! You want RTS? Play an RTS game. There is no point in StarDock wasting their time adding in something that will only be used a handful of times by its customers, and then forgotten. Or worse yet, something that
Oh yeah... Waypoints could prove useful. Auto launch would save 2 clicks, which is always nice. When I figured out I could launch from the Planet screen on the Next/Done cycle... Priceless. :D I'll have to continue to think about this changing the basic fighting means on the galaxy map. Would that be like, shooting from more then one square away? Having Star Bases that could launch attacks for a fair distance around them? That sort of tactical considerations? Humm... You know,
Humm... I suppose there are some people not thinking this stack thing through. Think about it. You say, let us stack our small ships to beat up the big AI ones! But... that means the AI will just stack his ships. Then it will be stack versus stack, and you still end up where you started. Small ships stack sucking against big/mixed stack. The Balance that MoO1 had was in the cost of small ships. You could have all your smaller worlds cranking out small ships, and when they were massed to
There were removed before shipping (but after the manual was made). StarDock has mentioned that they might put them and/or the other 2 missing factions in sometime in the future. Either an enhancement/patch or expansion. We just have to wait and see.
Brad, Don't sweat the whiners. Most of the forum is full of glowing, 'We love you! You are a god!' comments. But as we add more people to the forums, there will be more whining. Heck, even you die hards from the start will whine once in a while. Don't take it for ingratitude. Users are users, after all. :D I have got to say, I love you and your team's support! And it's a great game, thanks! Let your team know there's lots of people that are appreciative of their effort! I think
The AI does cheat in producing wonders/trade goods, but it is unintentional. They still aren't being blocked from building them after a wonder or trade good is built. As of version 1.01 - 34, you could do this as well though. Just select the "Generic" build que. Now, that world will build them as well. I've also had the situation where I and an AI built the same trade good on the same turn. I don't know if that is supposed to be legal or what though. I do find that the AI knows
Solops, it does. When GalCiv manages to finally get in to metaverse, it will dump them all. I don't know if there is a total limit to what it will shoot up.
From inside Gal Civ, the during a game, hit escape key (or pull down the options menu). Look at the top where the menu button was. It will list the version number there.
Solops, try re-registering your Metaverse registration as well. That seemed to make it work for some of us.
I get the impression that SDC is meant as a cool distribution tool. You know, an interface to allow you, the customer, to make sure you are well connected to the official GalCiv community (forums, news), and make it easy for you to download updates to your machine. I suspect that the 'quick mini updates' available to the SDC using members will drop off, as the customer base grows. Just a wild guess on my part, but the more users you have, the less forgiving some of them are bound to be
Humm... as often as other games? That's 3 in the first 2 weeks, one 3 months later, and one last, final patch another 7 months after that? No fun. Mind you, I'm not worried about anything bad in GalCiv. Just SDC itself.
It's a bit bright for my taste as well. Especially at night. ;)
