Thanks Boogie! Popup Target, that's a fantastic suggestion! I hope Boogie and friends can implement it for us!

Supreme Shogun, you did notice that Good get a trade bonus with other Good civs, right? That should more then offset the event shafting (when it has a cost). Lucian Gyiira, IIRC, you can set the alignment of the races. I haven't tried, but that is a feature of GC1, and I don't see why they'd not include it in the release version of GC2.
Hexes are a pain, from a programmer's point of view. You can do them, but they take actual work to do. A simple grid, on the other hand, is nothing but a 2 dimensional array. That's something that the computer does easily, with no significant work on the programmer's part. I don't think hexes matter significantly to a game like GC2. If SD ever goes to hexes, I'll be happy with them. But if they don't, it won't stop me from having fun and enjoying the GC line.
He's playing as an alien race. They get different colors.
You know, at first, ship design is great! Well, once you figure out how to get it to put the part on the exact red dot you want it to go on. And how to size the part to somewhere in the range you want it. But after your tenth, fifteenth, fifthiest design, it sucks. I've noticed that I've gone from building complex ships to ships that have all the features I want, and only a couple bits of "extra" so that I can tell at a glance that its different from other ships.
Diplomat Aloriel, point taken. All I can say is that a few stickies should be added to the pile at SD to get some new art into the game at the next reasonable measure. Which SD is most likely to do, in my rabid fanzer opinon. Try not to hold it against them that its been left for so long. I'm sure that they had bigger issues to deal with. Such as getting the Metaverse feature into this build so that it can be reviewed by the ESRB. That does seem to have upset the apple cart of their schedule a b
Gas Giants are usable. All you need is a bit of AG and radiation shielding. For instance, there's a range on Jupiter, where, if you could manage to not fall into the planet, you'd find a mix of gases that are close enough to support Earth life. A human wouldn't be able to survive the exact conditions unprotected, but much of the simpler life here on Earth could. Toss in some Anti-Gravity and some decent radiation shielding, and you'd be able to "colonize" Jupiter just fine: think clou
I find that I am developing 2 or 3 starbases at any one time. So I launch the constructors in batches. You know, World A, B, & C all spawn a constructor. Those are all launched towards my Influence booster. World C, A, B, and C (again) spawn constructors, and those go to my local Industry boosters. Tech advances rolls by, and I need a new set of Resource harvestors launched out to all my resources bases. Then a repeat of building up the Influence and the local Industry boosters. It is more of a
You know, the easy answer is to leave the humans all male in illustrations, and make the Altarians all female in illustrations, then have the Altarian texts always say "She" and the Human texts always say "He", and be done with it. All others would just say "they" or "it" as their reproductive habits are so different from Human/Altarian that they simply can never puzzle out if an individual human/Altarian is Sex One, Two, Three, Six, Eleven, or Twelve. <img src="smiles/Wink.gif" border=0 ALIGN="
Actually, it isn't any more expensive to model a female. It costs just as much to model a female as a male. However, I suspect that the initial art budget is allocated already, and that means there isn't the resources to get some new, previously unplanned art at this time. Aloriel, you seem to be extreme on this. I agree it would be better to have some human females available for choice and prominently featured in the game. Also, the game should know the difference between male and f
*nods agreement with Lucky Jack* Exactly.
It's not just the speed of the colony ship that creates a slower game. It's the current game design. The reasons for this are: #1) There's more micro-management. Especially concerning planets. #2) Takes longer to develop planets. #3) Takes longer to research "something useful". #4) Nothing done to allievate the micro-management of star-bases/constructors. This makes the entire game slower! on Home world and early game: For instance, early
Have you tried to launch through the GCConfig? Have you validated that its display settings is set properly for your machine?
That's some tech bennie. Or does the tile techs no longer do anything for you then?
The ship designs should remain in the game at least until no ship exists of that design. I like to give my old ships over to my smaller friends. This practice seems that it might cause CTDs, as if I've obsoleted the design, loading a game where an AI still has one of those old designs seems to cause a CTD. I need to confirm this theory (at which point I'll report it properly as a bug). I wonder if the AI is obsoleting designs?
That's so cheesy! If you are going to do cheese, you need to do a lot of cheese. Otherwise, you have a "serious" or "dry wit" game (which is definately what GC is), and the cheese then stands out so very much because it's completely out of place.
We definately need auto-launch. I'm sure it will be along in a future build. It's just too useful!
StarDock is a very stable, reputable company. They've been in business for more then 10 years, making windows applications and games. You can check out their catalog over at https://www.stardock.com/ . You can go check out what people say by doing some Googling on their products, or checking out the fan forums (rather then a company/product forum like this one). Star Dock likes to include their customers in their development. It results in a better tested product, with a more po
In GC1, it was worth it. Although I prefered the top being +10%.
I think you need DirectX 9c.
I agree that the auto-upgrade needs work. I just had a game in beta 4b where I had Earth building a Manu Center, and while it was doing that, I got 4 upgrades. They all stacked up behind my current build. That was a very long list to go through, considering that items up in the queue were lesser versions of latter scheduled upgrades. If an upgrade governor only checks for upgrades whenever the queue would be empty, this would prevent the building up of stacked upgrades. <
I know that a 2.4 Ghz, 512 MB Ram, NVidia GeForce had no trouble running GC2. Considering how many beta testers have ATI cards, you should be alright to run GC2. Your problems with Civ4 are definately due to (for it) slow processor, low RAM (it needs a full Gig), and the fact you have an ATI card. Upgrading your ATI's drivers to the latest should/might fix your black terrain issues. As for your other issues... well, faster CPU and more RAM memory is what's required. It's irrit
Beta 4b Bug - Install on Clean System Sound is installed at off at all sound options. Enabling the sound options results in instant clicks, but music takes a long time to start.
Beta 4b Bug - Drath Tech Trade: The long text description has the Drath offering to you what they want from you, and have you offering to them what they intend to trade to you.
I consider cultural conquest to be just as valid a form of gaining territory, resources and winning as war. Or a tech victory. IIRC, it was both MoO and MoM. Brad had mentioned wanting to discuss buying the names/brands. But Atari wanted too much money for them, so that ended that.
