Not so sure about my 12 Beta 3 games though. Personally, I felt that since the improved scoring system was supposed to be in Beta 3, I would have gotten those scores if that Beta had worked.
That's my thinking too. I'm saving my saved games and I'm waiting to see what happens when the X-Pack goes public. If everyone gets a recalc, I'll resubmit. I think that's perfectly reasonable. Of course, this is just my opinion. One could make a case to resubmit
Looks you have won your Maso, H50. Well done!
Thanks, but it certainly wasn't the first attempt. ;) I can't imagine winning with anything but a straight rush.
22k for a Maso Tiny.
Me likey the new scoring for the higher levels. But for a fun game, I think I'll take Crippling over Maso. There's no time to do anything other than whack aliens before they whack you when playing Maso. ~SDC~
I didn't try putting -1 in the range value, but if it worked (which I doubt), it would offset the map size range bonus. Does anyone know where the map size range bonus lies (hard coded or in a file)?
I believe the map size range bonus is hard coded, I haven't come across it in any of the files. You can put a negative value into Range, however. I haven't seen any adverse affects from doing so. ~SDC~
If I read the changelog right, the AI still can't win by tech victory, it just disables the human tech victory if they get to Final Frontier first.
Yes, I misunderstood. Still, that's pretty cool. I got 3 CTDs playing the beta tonight. First beta that has been less than stable on my machine. I don't know if it is significant or not, I'll see what happens when I play next. ~SDC~

All I have to say is Masochistic aliens are mean. They want to pay pennies on the dollar for techs/trade goods. They declare war on sight. They expand like wildfire. Thank goodness they still can't fight a war worth a darn. I now fully understand why vincible + Ray want a level in between Crippling and Maso. I have seen the light. Oh, and Ray- 'Evil Ray' is a pretty disturbing guy. ;) ~SDC~

CHANGES IN 1.09C[b].001: ***New/Replaced files*** PlayerSetup.mtd StartScreen.mtd English.str (replaced) ResearchEvent.mtd (replaced) ***Things of interest*** 1) According to Stardock, the Arcean reliance on a fixed tech path has been removed. This is great news, now if the remaining abilities currently hard coded to specific Tech IDs were exposed in the data files, we could completely rebuild the tech tree if we wanted to. 2) The new English.str file h

Wombat! Sad to see you go. (:( Take a break, clear your head, then see where your path takes you. I've always enjoyed your writings, even though I read most in 'stealth' mode. I hope you'll reconsider, but if not, I understand where you are coming from and wish you luck. ~SDC~

I needed to take a break, but I feel re-energized now. Say what you will about the Metaverse, it certainly has helped retain my interest in this game. I normally play a game 3 or 4 times and then shelve it. But the Metaverse has kept me 'plugged in' long past my normal gaming half-life. Good to see us still bobbing around at the top of the ladder. :) ~SDC~

I added 3 more trade modules. A +50% Customs Station at Conglomerates. A +50% Benevolence Station at Benevolence (GOOD). A +25% Smuggling Station at Smuggling (EVIL). I had to do something to cut down on the number of trade SBs I was building. Seems to work well for me.

It will, but only when it matters. a) When there are duplicate IDs. b) When there are gaps in the SB Module IDs (because SB Module IDs have to be contiguous). 'Course, you do have to save the file after the renumbering, else it will have no effect.

It was gone before release. And after poking around with the .resource data file, I can get the Life Force resource to show on the map, but it has no effect, even when mined. It's been nerfed within the executable. So there's no way to bring it back at this time.
