I've thought about the "lost production" issue, but really, it makes sense. If you don't have the people working on something, they are just kicking back with their margaritas, enjoying the view.. You shouldn't get any production out of them. If you find their laziness appalling and you have them build anyway, you will have to pay for the things they build.

I have not read anything in this monster thread so forgive if this is a repeat: The UP forced everyone to go back to the Empire government, yet I kept getting elections. And I lost them! Then I was able to change the government back to Republic well before the time in the law, and I won the election that came up immediately. I am running 1.02.

I tried to trade off five systems, with planets varying betweeen 14 (but that sucka was huge and would hold a lot of people) and 17. I couldn't get a single thing.. then I tried later to move *all* of my systems besides Sol for the tech the Alexians had stolen from the Yor (you know the screen you get that says they have it all and will give it to you, and that they are *particularly* interested in systems?) I was in desperate shape, so I needed something like this trade to survive. But I cou

I played my first complete game on Gigantic.. it does give you more room to grow, but the AIs grow that much more, too. Yet the distances between you can mean that circumstances befall some of your enemies long before they can touch you. And I imagine it's hard to get to see all of the races before they drop out of the game. In my game, the Torians got wiped out before I could find them.

This prolly ought to have been posted over on the Galactic forum; however, I had a similar problem. I had downloaded the game, then tried to update it via SDC. For whatever reason this didn't work very well at first, so I then downloaded the entire bonus pack and tried to install it that way. Finally, though, when the first patch/update came out, I went back to SDC and tried to get it. Through that process, I realized that my registration hadn't taken, so I had to put my serial number back i

I have never said, anywhere, that I didn't like SDC. Maybe you weren't replying to me, Frogboy, but there's enough time between our two posts that you ought to have had a chance to read mine. You leave the impression that you are responding to me and I'm not happy not happy not happy! You must have seen that I'm only being helpful. It's suddenly like a paintball war around here, and I'm caught in the crossfire.. Poing! Ouch.

I just downloaded the thing, though that was the last days of my cable service.. don't know how long it would have taken on my new 56k service.. I might have set it up to download overnight even so. But I agree with EB being much faster than Amazon.com. I have a feeling Amazon.com is going to go the way of the dinosaur with the present state of their service.. Now where is the rolleyes icon? ::rolls eyes::

The funny thing is some of us *had* registered, but when we pulled down the bonus pack, the registration was cleared.. I don't think anyone over at Stardock knows yet why that happens to some. It's downright spooky! (Where's the shocked icon?) 8o

I think we have figured out most of the reasons that people have trouble with STC. It is either this: 1. registration is lost: to fix right click on the Drengin.net tab and select "account" and fill in the missing serial number. Or 2. The STC system doesn't have your current application data correct. To fix select the pulldown menu Tools --> Refresh Application Data. These two items need to go into some kind of faq or sticky post, because this is the source

Those having problems with SDC.. did you remember to check to see if your serial number is still in the system? Installing something or other wiped the serial number for me and I couldn't find anything until I put that back in. I don't recall exactly how it is done, but there is a right click maneuver involved on one of the menu items at the top.. should have something to do with your profile or somesuch thingy..

You can find the propaganda button on the planetary screen after you click the "details" button that is below the military build queue.. I think.. I can't help with your other two questions. Shoot, I'm not even sure I've helped with this one.. :notsure:

I had all victory conditions on.. the percentage for alliance victory showed as 100% and showed it for months and months.. maybe around two years. There were only three major races left; me and my ally, with the Arceans about fizzled to nothing. There were two minor races that were the most influential in the game (the I League and some other guys).. all of us were good and I was allied to I League too.. but the victory never actually made the game end. It didn't end until I "ascended" throug

Whew, I just played that sucka on gigantic, sub-normal and it took forevvvvvvvvvvvver.. I'll be trying it out on a smaller galaxy, I think, next. But I still have that quesion.. maybe it needs its own thread.

Well you can surely ruin a trade route by shooting all the little freighters. I got a message saying one of mine was in danger of going defunct if it got hit anymore; I'm sure it works the same way in reverse. So that is even better than a blockade.. they lose the route permanantly.

Ohhhh that is so uninspiring.. Here's a thing though; it showed that I had a 100% alliance victory, but the game kept on going for turns afterward until I finally "ascended". Is this a bug, or have I missed something?

I don't want a downloaded strat guide, I want a physical book I can keep open at my side. I think it's real hard to read for understanding on a computer screen. Of course I could print it out myself, but at the moment I don't have a printer for my laptop.. Still, I prefer a real book in any case.
