1. Hmm...I use the wheel a lot and I've only ever noticed one place where it doesn't seem to work...sometimes the mouse cursor has to be over whatever I want to scroll...but that's it. 2. I've noticed a few interesting data display issues and/or mispellings...which seems like it should be impossible in a game so thoroughly tested! ;p

I think they mentioned it as a bug to be addressed in the next patch (later today?).
Worth getting.
What difficulty are you on? I'm only using 'normal' for all the majors and they're a bunch of resource mongers!
I would agree that the acrobat manual is pitiful (but I personally hate acrobat). There is a quickstart thing done in webpages that comes with the game (downloaded version at least) that helps a little. Both the quickstart thing and the manual posted online (as web pages, available via the 'Encyclopedia' above) have a brief walkthrough. The web quickstart does well to get one started. There are also some gameplay examples in the 'Encyclopedia' section here that illustrate some of the
I think it's a little overly tweaked too. I can't even trade even level techs with the other majors. It'd be nice if you could trade even level techs without giving them away at 3 to 1 Something had to be done about the tech for money thing. It'd be nice to be able to sell the occasional tech to bolster the constantly hurting economy but to have an economy based entirely off of ludicrous tech tribute is a bit much. I would also hope the other majors trade amongst the
I agree. Refreshingly awesome game. Great interface, nice depth level. I also like the dev interaction and response time to issues on the forums. I was waiting for MoO3 and never bought it due to it just not looking like anything MoO and terrible reviews/descriptions. GalCiv to the rescue!
I like ground combat the way it is. I've seen enemy invasions repelled nonstop due to my superior ground tech/abilities. I've seen my overwhelmingly superior troops repelled by sheer numbers. Also, if you read the documentation, invading troops aren't just infantry. I think the ground combat only exists as a mechanism for exchanging systems. If you want to retain your systems, keep ships around. I think the point is to defend your empire with your navy. (If you toggle your
The Antimatter Missles work decently vs. the sharks...if you happen to have advanced that far technologically. Sharks seem to vary in power too. ;p
Try this with the 1.01A patch.
Gotta love the speed at which the devs respond to user feedback and patch!
Another fun event I keep getting is the one (usually on a small map) where 1 of the other major races gets this mysterious tech boon that 'will gradually over time make them powerful' and me their slaves. The only choice is to immediately attack them if you can. As stated, on a small map with limited resources one can't always spontaneously genocide an opponent. ;) The destabilization is annoying. I guess you counter with propoganda. The annoying thing is when you know someone is d
Hehe, I encountered a similar problem during my first game (still playing it). I planetary council or whatever voted on where to place some galactic zoo...which would double the income of a planet at a risk. I actually voted to get it since I'm always hurting for economy. A while later the zoo had a problem...and spawned 3 critters with attack 80/defense 5...pretty brutal considering I'd just started producing frigates which are nowhere even remotely close to that power.
