#8: LSN is not that expensive, it's $25 for 6 months. And remember that a lot of the game is played through their servers. And you DON'T have a 3 game limit without registering - it's just that you can't challenge other players. So, you have to go to their forum (there's one for exactly this) and ask to be challenge. Presto - unlimited games! Of course, without registering you don't enter the league, which is great fun... ~SDC~

I'm actually afraid that I'm the only Portuguese player, because the game isn't out yet in Europe, and Portuguese people are especially afraid of using their credit cards over that big bad scary Internet... :notsure: Oh well. Maybe in a couple of months the Portuguese Overlords will expand. :) Meanwhile, I'll keep conquering the galaxy. :d ~SDC~

Hmm, "Empire of Portugal Empire" didn't sound too good... so I changed it to "Portuguese Overlords", as SDC adds "empire" automatically. So, Portuguese players, please join "Portuguese Overlords"! :) ~SDC~

Not much to add to other people's opinions... GalCiv is awesome, buy it without any fear. You won't regret it. One suggestion: if you don't find it in a store, buy it online and download it. That's what I did - I live in Portugal (that's Europe :) )and the game isn't out here yet, but I had it a couple of days after release. Downloading 450 MB is nothing these days - I initiated the download, went to work, and when I returned home, I had a fantastic game waiting for me. :d <B

SMAC and Galciv are my 2 favorite turn based games. Both are very, very enjoyable. If you like one, you'll almost surely like the other. By the way, the SMAC universe is very interesting and detailed, as well. There are already 3 novels and a comic book. I'd like to know more about the Galciv back story, too... ~SDC~

"Lowering taxes could be devestating since raising them back up will make morale lower than it previously was. " Actually, from my understanding, the population increases or decreases until the morale is a certain number. So, raising taxes means a low morale while the population *decreases*, but when it gets to a point, it stabilizes. ~SDC~

Thanks! Hmm, the Altarians didn't look like us back then... and the Arceans were too shy and therefore didn't call themselves "the Arcean Empire", but only "the Empire". :) And the interface was windowed? I didn't remember that... ~SDC~

Actually, I haven't tired of the game's soundtrack yet. Which is saying a lot. One question: when you turn "evil", and the interface changes, the music also changes, to a darker, more ominous theme. But I don't remember a "good" music - that is, from my memory, the music when you turn "good" is the same as the "neutral" one. I may be wrong, though - I haven't got to "good" in the last 3 games. ~SDC~

I think what he means is that using terror stars to blow up stars is like using nukes in Civ, or planet busters in SMAC. It's considered an atrocity, and everyone likes you a lot less when you do it (although they probably fear you a lot more, as well). ~SDC~
