Thanks for the email address, and no, I dont think I make huge sums of money at the start, though I never come down from 100% productivity since I trade alot with the minor races. I make no more on these last games than I have in the past. Only odd thing in one game was at the end I got an event of some cult awakening dreadloards. They start out with insane sums of money, but I was already powerful enough so I destroyed alot of their fleet and then they asked for peace I really stuck it to th

While I was without an inet connection I played 3 games, but saved them before I won (I dont use any mods other than the official Stardock ones). When I went back and loaded the games to complete them, the first one posted fine, then the next 2 posted 0's for some reason. Hopefully the 4th that I am halfway through will not mess up as well. Can someone (I was told to ask Cari) please see if they can fix this? I would greatly appreciate it. :) Happy gaming. ~SDC~

Ray, to maybe get a better grip on difficulty level comparisons (for the sake of good ol' fun analysis) you can compare the difficulty in terms of how easy it is to win. For instance: To me, Average difficulty is a sure win - I could basically set up my game and hit end game until I inevitably won (that's not exactly true, but that's how I feel). On Tough, I expect to gain early game superiority in 3 out of 4 major catagories, and the rest is a fore-gone conclusion. Mistakes

Gordeleth breathed the salty air with an exagerated noise. Astonishingly different from the earthy musk of Dellic's Woods back home and the crisp mountain air of the lands he had recently visited, Gorde knew this heralded an adventure unlike any he had seen. He glanced at his new friend, Lugh, who he had recently met in the town's bar. A much older ranger, by human standards, he was a welcomed fount of advice and interesting stories. Lugh was eyeing the large ship warily, so Gord

Ric, I am halfway through a tough, large game on the new version, and I like the changes. Don't really see any reason not to upgrade. On the name change, I agree with Matthew; "Fellowship" or "The Fellowship" would be perfectly safe, but would still refer to our group in all it's glorified silliness. Happy gaming.

I know it's important that the AI act like another player, so this may need to be checked into. The AI can demand money from me when I have none, yet I cannot do the same to them if the situation is reversed (at least I have tried and not figured out how). If it is possible for me to get money from broke, weaker races, let me know - otherwise this might need tweaking. I play on v1.05 though I am looking forward to the expansion. Happy gaming. ~SDC~

Well, I still dont see the point of empires, but after lurking on this thread, and hearing of the pirates' rampaging ways (especially that nasty business of hobbit tossing!), I could no longer sit on the fence. I have been very amused by the clever posts and been impressed by the willingness to help. Though this may be among the oddest spots for great fantasy reading, I have been thoroughly entertained. I am usually a lone ranger (not to be confused with THE Lone Ranger), I have com

Intriguing concept - I wonder if it would be enough of the original fun to be worth it. IMO there's few better ways to waste quality time than gaming; whether it's a social MMORPG or the traditional pen and paper setup. :D RL probably wont allow me the time to participate for a few months, but I'd be interested to know how it goes.

Gordeleth was just a name I coined way back in the beta days of Everquest (Gorde for my Sci Fi games, usually). I just invented a name that sounded appropriate (but is anyone truly inventive in a world of this many imaginative people?); why, does it mean something in a language? LoL, I also used to go by Pied (Pied Piper was my bard), but alot of people started asking me if I was French (means 'foot' apparently). As for empires, I appreciate the offer, but I have always been confused

Thanks for the response, Ray. Nothing had changed since my previous submit, so I tried again from the saved game and this time it gave me the option. It was a glorious victory, though you may notice that since the game has been tweaked, I can no longer win above tough (I have either gotten slower or the game has indeed gotten smarter, as advertised). Who knows, within a few games I may feel like punishing myself again... Happy gaming. ~SDC~

My latest game did not give me the option to submit to the Metaverse (went from the victory graphs to the main menu), and I was just wondering if it was down. Sadly, I dont have the time to play the game near as much as I did when it first came out, but I do remember a Metaverse submission issue a while back. So, I was hoping to find out why my game did not post. It's no big deal, of course, but was worth asking. Happy gaming. ~SDC~

This thread is practical and important. I agree with the jist of it, which can be summed up to a plea to Brad and company: Please do not fall into the trap of "upgrading" the game with cheese fixes to the point that it hinders a balanced and true upgrading of the game that will add to the majorities' enjoyment. There is definately some balance to be maintained, and we all hope Stardock has the wisdom to walk the right line. Happy gaming. Gord ~SDC~

Terror stars are only a preference, not an efficient option to win (I love playing evil, but have only once used them to destroy star systems). If you have enough resources to build and protect a TS as it creeps through enemy territory, laying waste to their planets, then you have more than enough resources to attack with more traditional resources and actually take their planets (and production) vs. obliterating them. Now...if they were more useful, say you only have to blow up one

As covered in my previous posts (just in case you missed it): I think it is important that there be an "escort" feature, so you can put warships on your tiny traders to (attempt to) safeguard them through times of war. ~SDC~

I truly believe this is what's called "strategy" not cheese. And I feel that at Genius+ levels, the AI should be able to do the same to you. The first wave is your vanguard, and making sure they cause as much havoc as possible before your main force arrives is good tactics. (Forget the non-realism, this is a strategy game, not a sim - or if you HAVE to justify it to yourself, you can pretend the attack did neglegible damage with the smaller force; that your vanguard did just enough to help ou

I do the same as you for slightly different reasons. I think trade starbases are more than worth it (what the heck would you back planets build if not constuctors, hehe, everything else costs money), and therefore it's better to have shorter routes with lots of starbase adds than longer routes with less bonuses. The main reason I switched to short routes though is the defense factor. I got tired of having the AI cut off my money surplus, and if they are short, defended, and lined with trade s

On all bright, I feel that once you gain the lead, you should never lose it (except for maybe some horribly bad luck with the random events). I don't know your play style (it's amazing how many "right" ways there are in this game), but I'd say you need to analyze your mid-game strategy. IMO, others passing you up in mid-game or later means you are not doing something as efficiently as you could be. (Are you building near-useless structures that cost too much, or not changing your tax

The other quick fix is to remove all your production based items (like manufacturing center) on your back-end worlds. This allows your production points (actually, your money) to be more focused on your most effective worlds, so even with low spending levels some of your planets will still produce reasonably well while your other planets will not be wasting money on their production efforts.

I had to switch to a new computer last week. Reloaded the game fine and so on. But now my latest score will not upload to the Metaverse (always worked fine before). I made sure I reentered the correct submit info, etc. Any suggestions that could help? Sorry if this has been covered - I remember seeing several problems when the game first came out, but I never read them since I did not have that problem.
