If I am remembering correctly when you zoomed out in Supreme Commander 2 an army of many units turned into a bubble-like graphic with the number of units written inside the bubble. Very neat and easily selectable by just clicking the bubble. Of course that could be improved upon with some info, perhaps in graphic/icon form in the bubble giving a rough make-up of the army there in.
Officially released to the media: August 13 Released to the Founders: August 20
Thanks for finding that date, means i don't have to keep checking back to see if it was available yet or not. Just forget about it for a few days.
Going by various videos shown off before it seems the developers might be quite close to AMD so they wouldn't want to put them at a disadvantage. Sites like anandtech looked at and benchmarked the Starswarm demo so I imagine they will be looking at this. It will be nice to see the difference dx12 brings across different types of systems both with gpus and cpus. I'm very curious if a 6-core cpu will now be markedly better than 4 core for this game and future dx12 games.
Nope. If you are a founder then you have bought the final game. Prior to the release of the final game you will also have access to the Alpha and Beta versions of the game.
The version of the game that the drivers are directed at is not out yet. Most expect it today, though I believe what was actually said was more like, "not before the 13th", so it might not be today. Either way, expect it soon. Hope it doesn't crash for you after that!
The new dx12 version is not out yet. I hope it comes today but if not then it should be very soon. p.s. With your system it looks like you might not really need dx12 to run the game well, though I can certainly understand your curiosity to see how it will perform. I think it will be people with lower to middling systems who notice more of a difference as it should bump up fps or allow them to up a few graphics options. If a powerful card is running the game maxed out an
I agree with the above. At the very least you need to allow up to 6 players but it should be 8. The scale of the game would have to be absolutely huge to really justify only 4 players as there already games like PA which support massive maps and unit quantities and still allow many players. And that is with units which have much more complex pathing issues as they are tracked/on the terrain and are on a round sphere. You have mentioned the minimum specs of the game are quite high and that the
I think 1 and 2 should definitely be in the game. You could probably make an argument for option 2 actually being the default play. It would mean less micro and a faster pace to the game. As an option though it is great. 3 is a harder one to predict, especially on smaller maps with less power points, in those cases it would effectively act like a unit cap. Well, that is if you take away the logistics buildings too. I liked in TA that you could disallow certain units/buil
Being able to toggle on/off the grids on the mini-map. Strategically i know they are vital but hey are also very messy. It would be nice to have the option of just seeing the terrain. Perhaps a middle option to turn the lines semi-transparent.
Will you make it so units are all individual instead of the T1 units currently being in squads of 3? I hope so, I don't feel like I am fully in control when moving units in 3 instead of as individuals. Also the factories have one platform for the units they create, not three. Looking forward to Beta.
Any update on the dx12 patch yet?
In another thread they said they can't release it sooner than 13th of August.
Some great looking maps there! My mind is now at ease after worrying a little about the passage-way nature of the ones shown before now. Some of those look a bit familiar, especially the top two, TA and SupCom homage in there maybe? :)
I hope later on there are some more open-map map designs. The Alpha maps all feel like they are funneling you around and the map above does not look dissimilar in this regard. A large grass plain could be made of one large or several small power points depending on that map, both equally valid ways I think. Hopefully more gentle sloping/rolling hills etc. will also make a showing at some point in the development. Looking forward to the big patch.
Only those with Founders Lifetime Editions get the multiplayer cd-keys? That is...understandable but I wish all founders got them. It would get the game tested on more rigs which is good and they would still have to pay for the game in the end. Want to change you mind on that? :)
I like starting surrounded by total darkness. Exploring the unknown like in TA. They have said there will be loads of maps and even possibly semi-random ones too (I think) so for casual players it will be fun to explore them. I guess most people in these threads are not so casual though so I can understand if you have a different view. If it was just greyed out it would be OK too but as they obviously have the tech in place I hope they atleast keep the options of blacked out.
Be careful with this. If you introduce units via DLC you run the risk of being called P2W. If you restrict multiplayer games by who owns what DLC then you'll split your multiplayer community which is good for no one. Units / Factions should only be via expansions. Considering that this is on steam you can sell DLC maps, but the community will always be able to put out more maps of the same quality for free. This leaves you with makin
I have been looking for a change in direction in my life and I think I have just found: Professional Land Surveyor! If it can allow one to retire at 48 it sounds like the right gig to me :)
i7 4700HQ, 8GB RAM, GTX 765M 2GB, Win 8.1 i7 4790k, 16GB RAM, R9 270x (soon to be GTX 970)
A GeForce GT 320 is an incredibly weak card from 5 years ago (unless you have made a typo) . I can just about run the alpha on a 765m and according to gpuboss (which you can use to compare cards) it is several times more powerful than the 320. Is there really a 320 with 4 gig of RAM? I find that hard to believe, perhaps is is taking some system RAM to reach that number. At this time of Alpha the recommended specs are p
If the Alpha crashes will any useful data get sent back automatically to you (the developers) or are you relying solely on people writing up bug reports?
Thanks for the link, that is an interesting approach they have taken to the perennial staffing problem in this industry.

Are you out-sourcing some of the work or getting some people from Stardock in?
Can't wait to play the alpha to base my impressions on actually playing the game I guess.
This. From early access to full release is about 6+ months (from the information released so far) so we can have a go and make suggestions from there. Looking forward to it.
Some people will want/expect a nuke but i don't mind that. I do wish there was more than 13 units a side, even if it was primarily for visual variety with some function overlap. The units in Ashes, at least on the side without the shielding, so far look quite similar, floating, rectangular, all with hover engines on, just with a slightly different chassis and array of guns (a little harsh and perhaps premature but their profiles are quite similar). SC only has thirteen units but t
Lots of things to like in there too :) 1) I am glad APM is not a focus 2) Fine by me 3) Love that the units are relatively tough, was a strong point in TA and a weak point in PA (for me). 4) Fine by me 5) I am glad you are using the hardware available, I want the game to look good! The majority of gamers have 8GB of RAM and 4 cores and the game still has close to a year to come out so that percentage is li
