This can only be exploited to a point. I've found that if I'm at war, declare peace, cause a war, declare peace repeatedly enough, the AI does at some point catch on, and gets mad, eventually demanding even more to get the peace, and eventually wont ever declare peace and fight to the death. Believe me, I've tried variations of that cheese tactic and found this out the hard way. SeanB

How is it difficult. Supposedly the pathfinding capabilities of the AI should be able to track on a worm hole and be able to calculate off the new location should it run across one. As a programmer I could probably figure something like that out myself. Too bad I can't seem to break into the computer game industry :-( SeanB.

There's a bit of a disconnect within the PC Game side of things I noticed. In the MMORPG, constant updates and patches after a build is expected, and if none come down, then people start screaming bloody murder. In the rest of the game industry, its considered taboo. I think you might want to change the name of the updates to something like enhancement packs or bonus packs, that way it presents the impression that you're augmenting the game or tweaking its existing features a

I've seen a couple ideas I really like, so I'll repeat them here... 1) The flag ship... I like the idea of having a flag ship, and it'd make for some cool fights as some empires could gun for the flagship to crush the enemy's spirit (much like crushing a capital and bring down a nation) 2) Along those lines...have a capital for the empire. Similar to above, the capital would enjoy bonuses for being the capital, but also could cause the empire morale penalties if it fell...

I found it amusing that the computer catches on to some abuses that I've done, such as attack the computer, do damage, make peace, and then attack them again on the next turn. After a few times, the computer catches on to this until eventually I see something like "We are a proud species and will fight to the bitter end. We will not make peace only to have you attack and then make peace again." Somehow I get the feeling they didn't appreciate that, but then again I was pure evil, so

I think the reason the small map isn't that viable is that the metaverse scores given for small map victories are so low. People go for the large/gigantic map wins because that is what yields the best metaverse scores. Now I'm going to recount what happened when I played on the bright level. I started out in hyper expansion mode until I ran into the Torians to my left. My frontier world (Frontiers) was under cultural attack. There were 3 or 4 other Torian stars in that system, so

I noticed that the AI was picking on the Scotlingass (sp?) minor race. Naturally I came to the protection of them because they were awesome trade partners, and according to the description, was controlled by women, so I had to protect the ladies.... Anyways, I blockaded the planet from the Acreans.... the problem with the Acreans is that they seemingly brought their entire fleet into the sector. I'm talking easily 60 to 70 ships in the sector (there was one square that had a stack of

I think the problem I see with the so-called mop-up phases is that it literally takes soooooo long to scour the entire map. One would think that if you've researched worm-holes or got to that point in the game that you should be able to develop jump gates or something like that. As it is, it takes something like 8 to 10 + turns to cross the galaxy to get to the more isolated armies...and if I could've had it reduced to a few turns via a stargate, it'd make it alot easier. As I sugge

It is me or is this site having problems crashing on the weekends. Early today there was a too many users message that kept coming up. This happened last weekend as well....any idea why this is happening. SeanB

"I think Earth may of been class 16 come to think about it. Next time I get such a poor quality starting planet I will quit before I even begin. " Ouch...yah that'll do it to you... I usually wont take a starting PQ of 18 or less unless I get a really killer starting position (tons of yellows nearby, etc) As to the starbase thing, I've not noticed the major hits on my economy from starbases as yet, and I got quite a few of them on the map. In the above scenario in which

Perhaps I can shed some light on what Technician is experiencing. I think he started with a bad luck of the draw planet, usually class 16 or 17. When you start out with planets like this, then no, there's no way you're going to be able to raise your taxes very far without killing your morale/approval rating. You can counteract some of the approval rating hits by using the propeganda sliders. Makes a huge difference if you're trying to maintain political control. I'm running

The subject says it all pretty much. Right now its either impossible to disband a colony ship without launching it first. I understand pretty much all ships are like this, but colony ships (And I suspect transports as well), take up people, and I dont want to have to lose those people if all I want to do is disband the ship. This is a problem in systems where I have 3+ planets on the same star and I have alot of other ships garrisoned there. SeanB.

1) I'd like to see stargates maybe introduced. They can be balanced by being expensive to maintain (in otherwords, an empire couldn't build more than a few if at all). It'd help to speed up some of the quagmire situations that can develop from just not being able to send your forces across fast enough. 2) I'd like to see spy missions, like stealing technologies, sabotaging production, stealing money, etc. 3) Counter intelligence slider to counter the spies

I happen to think the USA is more of a corporate democracy than a democracy. If you really look at where alot of these laws come from, they come from lobbyists (sp?) who were hired by coroporations to push the agenda of the company. There are god only knows how many frightening copyright bills that are coming through that are backed by MPAA, RIAA, and perhaps ISDA. The DMCA was pushed through by content holders. The copyright extension by the same people. The wireless/telecom laws are influ

Caracatus-- I've seen the phenomenon you mentioned only once. And I have no idea why this happens from time to time like that. But since usually I can reload an autosave and then do it over again, I can at least get the score saved. Now I have a question....please tell me there's something that prevents someone from spamming the Metaverse by loading a saved game, then submitting it, then reloading that saved game and submitting it again. Just so you know, I've not done this

You should receive a prompt at the end of the game at some point to submit your score. You should have your internet connection hooked in when you click that submit button to submit the score. I'm not sure if that connection should be there before the game ends or not. Be that as it may, you can only submit a score once the game has ended (even if you lost) SeanB

I have seen this too. I've also found that terrorstars can gain extra movement points if you stack large enough ships with them. I think at one point, I got a terror star moving several spaces at a time. I think maybe the +speed improvements might have something to do with this also. I need to experiment some, but the only time I've seen this happen was when I had a terror star in play. SeanB
