There is NO multiplayer in Galactic Civilizations II, or Dark Avatar, or Twilight of the Arnor. You can only play against the computer. This topic has been addressed many times and is sticked all over the place (ala the thread, Galactic Civilizations II, the case for no multiplayer). So in short, there is no way to do what you are suggesting, the game just doesn't support it. There is however, an online ranking system called metaverse, that takes the scores from

It would be useless to have them as a playable faction. The game wouldn't go anywhere, they'd eradicate everyone in less than 100 turns. It would be like playing against god, there's no fun in that. You've got to remember, they're tech (ala their weapons and defense) are better than even the most advanced weapons available in the game, and they START with those techs. The game would always have the same outcome, Dread Lords win.
Generally patches and updates don't erm, screw things up, as much as they make things better and eliminate pesky bugs and problems. So, enjoy the updates and new features! except for 1.8e...which has been broken for over 1 month.
I've had no problems with it...
Thanks...glad I asked. Hope they do something about this in the TA game.
They won't, because that is the way it is intended to be. Those defenses take up space, in the form of a tile, that's how it's supposed to be ;).
Is there any way to get the AI to use those points (instead of me choosing for them)?
That's what we just said, NO there is not. You have to tell them what to use or they AI WILL NOT use them.

And remember, a colony can only be invaded by a troopship or sporeship if it is undefended. If you have ships in orbit, your enemy must destroy them first in order to land troops or deploy spore weapons. And as said, if you have an orbital fleet manager on the planet, it will allow your ships in orbit to act as a fleet, instead of being attacked one at a time, which can come in handy if a fleet of enemy ships is attacking. There are several super projects that can help your ships in o

You can use ALT + TAB to switch between any programs windows is running at any time. However, if you are running the game in fullscreen mode (which is default) then you may be switching resolutions as you go, which can cause problems. The best answer is to play the game at the resolution you run your computer normally, which should ALWAYS be your monitor's native resolution. Even then, using ALT + TAB can cause the game to become unstable, and often takes several seconds to switch back to.<br
Let's say I play the Terrans in one game and choose various abilities for them. After that, I start a new game and choose a different race. Uh, you did some major hardware changes there, i'm hoping you formatted your HDD and reinstalled windows right? If not there's no telling what driver problems you could be having. Replacing a motherboard, processor, and video card without reinstalling windows will usually cause it to go apeshit. So make sure you remove any drivers that belong to your old hardware, and install the latest drivers for your new hardware. Also, post your debug.err file so we can help you out more.

This isn't a bug either, and it is random. The game picks a random political party each time you click on it, unless you have customized the race (or played as that race) and picked a political party, then it will stick with that one until you change it.

This is not a bug, the line is blank because that is where the new victory condition that will be added in a later beta will appear. As it is not active, it is not available, but the space for it has been made.

Try deleting your prefs.ini file and any .customracexml files you have (or move them to a backup folder if you want to save them) and try again. It sounds like that might solve your problem. If not, you've already submitted your bug reports, but it would most likely be monday before anyone was able to take a look into it.

Twilight of the Arnor is the newest expansion pack for Galactic Civilizations II. It is currently in an open beta testing stage, and should be released in January. It adds a host of new features, WAY too many to list here; changes that make Twilight of the Arnor the absolute best GC2 has ever been. [/press release and shameless promo]

Well if you haven't updated it from the box then it is definately out of date. You need to install Stardock Central from the downloads section, create a stardock.net account, and register your DL and DA serial numbers with the account. Then when you start SDC it will show your purchased games under the 'games' section, and allow you to patch them. You will also see what version you have now, but you can always access that information as it is at the top of your debug.err file.
