I have to put my 1.89 cents in this one. Personally, I prefer to wait until I can get a FREE expansion, thats also as close to bug FREE as the beta testers can get it. I'll take a "double-free later" over a "pay-for now" any day of the week. Adolf(Hitler)?!? Nazism?!? That's beyond "insulting!" You are free to have your opinions, and that's all well and good. But I think labels of that magnitude requires an apology, at the VERY least.

Every time it's happened in any of my games, it's always been a race I haven't encountered yet, off in unexplored space. Since I can't do anything about it, I just ignore until I meet up with whoever it is. Often they are wiped out by one of the majors long befroe that happens.

*shakes off dizzyness* Actually, I find myself agreeing with you about Watterson's retirement. Your point about Peanuts is sadly all too true. Still not sure IF I'll submit to metaverse, but if I do, you've sold me on G.R.O.S.S.! (As long as Rosalyn isn't allowed in!)

It's a plot hatched by the evil empires! If you can't see, then you can't implement your strategy, thus giving them an advantage! Fortunately, they don't seem to know enough about human vision to blind us completely! LOL Sorry, couldn't resist! ;)

Calvin & Hobbes is indeed the best comic strip of all time. When Bill Watterson retired, I quit buying newspapers. Seriously, Calvin was the only reason I read them. This is just a round-about way of saying I love your empire's name Pontius! If I ever come to care about submitting to the metaverse, I'll give G.R.O.S.S. first consideration. So, just how high in the tech tree do you have to go to get "nerf technogoly" anyway? LOL

If you ask me, planetary defense should act like a ship in orbit, itself. In other words, the invading fleet should have to fight the defenses irregardless of whether there are ships in orbit or not. Vorlin's right. I have seen the AI use invasion tactics that damaged PQ so badly that the planet was immediately disbanded after capture.

500?!? You'd have a different set of penalties every turn! Talk about a juggling act! Still, it WOULD be very entertaining! :D

I'm not sure this could really be implemented and keep play balance. MOO2 example: I would take (Environmental)Intolerant and Lithovore. This required 10pts of disadvantages. I simply took penalties in areas that I rarely used (like espionage). The result was a race that could out produce the Klackons (No farmers=more workers+no polution penalty) and could nearly out research the Psilons (again, no farmers=more scientist available). I found it almost impossible to lose with this

"BTW, for everyone saying they do not care, why bother to submit scores if you do not care? If you did not care about your score, you would not submit them. Matter of fact, you wouldn't even read your summary. Most likely you either have high scores, so you say that you do not care, or two, you cannot compete with the top players, so you say you do not care." I don't submit. I've never even set up an empire, or whatever. I "truly" don't care about the metaverse. Some of us are like t
