There is a Steam forum for LoP and it's not good. All bad comments. VERY different from Endless Space who got most good comments and great reviews. Wow, so glad I listened to my instincts and stayed away from this one. Endless Space will have hundreds if not thousands of hours of replay value until the next good 4x game finally happens.
Why is it silly? There are already other threads on this site describing in detail why a great number of people will not purchase games through an online client like Steam. If a game developer considers that population base acceptable losses for the sale of their game....well, that I think is silly. As to your comment about retail sales; it's conjecture. If people decide not to buy games online, I&#
This was a great summer sale for me. So many games super cheap. Crusader Kings 2 latest DLCs for $3.50 or so. The Witcher 2 for $16 (AMAZING game by the way) Legend of Grimrock $6 Tropico 4 bundle for $16 - Been waiting for this sale for a long, long time. Oblivion GOTY Deluxe and Morrowind GOTY - both for $11.23. I have them on CD but for this cheap I'll take the digital versions. Sim City 4 Deluxe for $5. Why? SC 5
I'm fine with Steam and Impulse as digital downloading sites, that's fine. I personally like a CD/DVD copy of my games, cause you just by god never know when you feel like loading and playing that out dated, dinosaur of a game, but it's always there.
True. However going forward even this is going to be harder and harder to do. Take Skyrim for example. Having the DVD all day long doesn't help yo
Been loving the Steam summer sales as usual. Got The Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition for $12 or so. Legend of Grimrock for $4. Tropico 4 with all DLC for something like $9. Even picked up Oblivion and Morrowind just for the heck of it, *both* of them for $11 total. Love it!
@Pheace I did find the search button after you mentioned it - doesn't exactly stand out does it? Still can't find a solution to the issue. Will try phoning 2K support instead as they actually have a contact number so I might be able to sort out the issue in 30 minutes as opposed to dealing with Valve. To be honest I can't be bothered to debate this further with you and your sort - I think the
I agree that this is a fantastic game. I pre-ordered a couple weeks ago and 2 hours later I was 30 turns in and didn't want to stop. Sat down last night to play around 8pm and next thing I know it's 12:30 am. It is that good and that addicting. I haven't had a good "one more turn" game since GalCiv 2 and Civ 4. It reminds me a lot of GC2 but with a *much* better tech tree and the UI is one of the best in a 4x game, Sins probably being the only ri
EA can swim in it's own sewage, it's their fault. I refuse to buy an EA game again. First they killed Bioware with the abomination that is Dragon Age 2 after the amazing Dragon Age Origins. Second, they came up with this Origin service which is mandatory. Uhhh, no. I know I'm not alone in that many gamers refuse to get an EA game because of the Origin requirement. Same for many Ubisoft games and their horrendous DRM. So whi
Well, I'm not reading anything about Dawnguard so that solves that problem. :) Second, for me, I don't ever buy the DLC/Expansions for the big games like this or like Dragon Age. I've got the base Skyrim game plus mods which I have already played near 200 hours in. I have no desire to pay (too much IMO) for this DLC. I'll wait a year or two for the "GOTY" edition that has the game plus *all* the DLCs for half the price of the full game and then
Endless Space is to be released on July 4th!
There is a new game in open Beta available for pre-order on Steam called Endless Space. If you pre-order you get full access to the beta and have influence in how the game is developed (they have a voting system for new features and changes). Due to be released in July. http://endless-space.amplitude-studios.com/ http://store.steampowered.com/app/208140/</a
For anyone that is curious, an update. You can indeed do a single upgrade install when going from 32-bit to 64-bit Win 7. No need to do the "double install" method. Boot up with the Win 7 64-bit disc and choose "Custom" install. From there you can reformat your C drive and it will install the OS fresh and will activate just fine. As for Skyrim...ran over 15 hours over the weekend without a single crash. High Res textures and everything. It didn
Honestly I don't think of Steam as a "3rd party download manager" for Sins. Steamworks is an integral part of the game and of the code. So it's more of a "1st party" software required. Just happens to be Steam. So Sins requires Steam simply because it uses Steamworks. Elemental doesn't appear to be using Steamworks so while it will most likely be available on Steam to buy, Steam won't be required. Now if they decide to do multiplayer it may
Hmmmm, how can you not have Admin access? That seems very odd.
Quoting bonscott, reply 2 As for Skyrim, the HD textures need the 4 gig of RAM which 32 bit doesn't allow. The most common reason for HD texture crashes (Vanilla, no mods) is not enough RAM and 32bit system just doesn't allow enough. Don't worry, that's the reason, not mods. When using HD textures DLC Vanilla it crashes at the same spot in the intro video when the their speaks. That's a
Is this a home built system? I find it strange that a retail 64 bit machine would have 32 bit Windows 7 installed. As far as Skyrim is concerned: I have almost 400 hours played. You should get better performance with 64 bit Windows, but the forums don't indicate that 32 bit Windows is an issue. Skyrim is a native 32 bit application, so you won't be gaining there at all. All of the Crash To Desktop (CTD) issues are related to&nbs
Great thread. Civ 1 was the reason I bought my first IBM based PC. Loved all the Civs with Civ 3 and Civ 4 being my favorite. Civ 5? No thank you. It's terrible and a waste of money, glad I never bought it. Only way I'll pick it up is when all the DLCs are out and the whole package is at least 80% off on Steam for like $10. Even then I probably won't get it because they killed the series with 5 (IMO).
Currently on Windows 7 32-bit. I've had a couple driver issues so a wipe and re install was in the works anyway. Skyrim seems to need 64-bit to be able to properly use the HD textures without crashing and more games are looking to support 64-bit so I might as well make the jump. I want to format the drive (as I always do with a re install of the OS) and install Win 7 64-bit clean. I have the 3 license Win 7 Upgrade pack. Now when I ori
I hated Steam for many years, preferring Impulse. Last year with the sale of Impulse to Gamestop (who I refuse to do business with, period) I gave Steam another shot with an open mind. All my Steam hatred was unfounded and just wrong. At the end of the day it just works and I now have well over 50 games on it including rebuying (at 75% off sales) of most of the games I had on Impulse. Steam doesn't get in my way at all and I can play all my games just fine. &nb
I love F2P as a concept for MMO's and online games. I'm not so sure when it comes to a "traditional" game like GalCiv or Elemental how it would work. DDO (Dungeon and Dragons Online) is a great example of F2P. My wife and I play this game on and off with a couple friends. Game was nearly dead when they swung for the fences and went F2P which saved the game. They also have a subscription available for $10 a month (or less). The game itself is free
I would honestly pass on it. Obvious overclocking attempt as someone else posted and you don't know if you overclocked it wrong or too high and fried something to the point it isn't stable.
Used WinAmp for many, many years. Now I actually just use Google Music (I think it's been renamed to Google Play or something like that). Free (obviously) and you can login with your gmail or G+ account. You'll download a small app which will upload all your MP3's to "the cloud" and then all your music is now available anywhere via Google Music. Pretty sweet and a good backup actually for all your music. If your PC crashes you can download all your
Dang, it will require Origin. I forgot that EA is going this game and I am so done with EA after the travesty that was Dragon Age 2. And then Origin is just another nail in the coffin. Must....resist....EA.....
