Some bugs (I think) or annoyances spotted in my first Galciv2 game: - it's not possible to lunch an empty transport spaceship, though it would be quite useful when moving people from overcrowded worlds to more spacious ones; i had to lunch them with 1 trooper instead... I've been irritated by this too. Be nice to launch with 0 troops. - Intense Farming improvement doesn't produce more food than it's predecessor (X
More bugs and improvement ideas: - when upgrading a ship design and choosing to replace the design it's deleted from the available projects list, but is not deleted from the 'Quick Build' list, where I see many versions of the same project, that was upgraded over time I've noticed this bug too. Also I think obsoleted designs show up in the upgrade ship list. - planets with not sufficient food supply auto-decrease population to allowed max. in 1 turn; would b
The game I just finished, I upgraded 2 ship models in the same class that I'd built around 19 of. There is a check box you can use to upgrade all of ships of a particular model. Cost was like 22k total. Money came from selling tech to a rich but much less advanced AI. My reasoning for the big purchase had been it was much quicker than building new ones, taking only 1 week. The slightly improved weaponry but much more effective defense made
The Downloads area. Link Your version will show 1.0D1 in the lower left after your start the game.
Correct me if I'm wrong Frogboy but if you look at my numbers in post #15. You'll see that I'm somehow getting both attack and defense assists in the other two when I only have beam stuff. And your right, the bunch of cheap ships works wonderfully when assisted with everything you can construct.
Wow this is a long thread. When you hit end turn, automatically zoom out till you can see a good portion of the centered map. Then do the end turn. We get a nice view of stuff happening (just like if you do this by hand). When its your turn again, reset to the previous zoom level and view.
There is some screwiness. Numbers from my current game. I have 3 fleets of 6 ships that are all the same ship design. These numbers are all from in an area covered by my one military starbase. The design has 5 Plasma III (Beam +2) and 1 Shield II (Shield +2). I get some bonus added to these from a fully developed military resource base an AI gave to me. An individual "Ship Details" numbers. 12/2 0/0 0/0 One ship selected (numbers from box beside th
Thanks for writing a detailed change list.
Stromko, you must not have researched any of the diplomacy techs. In my current game, I have a high diplomacy and can really take advantage of the less technologically advanced AI civs. How the AI civ feels about you also has a direct effect trading. BTW, don't forget to add money to deals where you can afford it or they can afford it. In the beginning of the games trade with the minor civs. Later on you'll be better able to trade with the m
I also had some bugginess develop when trying to change my fleets on a square that had both transport and combat ships. Eventually, I gave up and separated the transport from the combat ships on two different squares. On a side note, the F and U keys are your friend. However, the F key works differently than the "Create Fleet" button. The F key you don't have to select all the ships for a fleet. It'll just pull in more ships from that square

Supreme Shogun, read the first post again. You can fix this build starbase problem by saving and reloading. Actually, I usually save, quit and then start the game up again using a quick-save. BTW, Control S will do a quick save for you. A save/reload also fixes other odd bugs I've run into occasionally.
I totally agree. Its too much of a pain to upgrade my flagship and so its been serving (not very effectively) as a radar picket. What would be nice is to have flagships treated as special and have them get real cheap upgrades.
Thinking of all the games I've played that have robbed me of sleep. GalCiv2 probably ranks up there with one of the XCOM games.
I've had this bug happen too.
gustaf00, I had this happen in my tough difficulty game. In other words, the AI was all set to intelligent. Nice, easy freebie when that minor race popped up in my backyard. The AI should probably be given some infrastructure on the planet too. - When minor races appear later in the game, it might make sense to give them more starting defensive ships / infrastru
Tackling the terrible tool tips (TTTTT ). ANNOYANCES and SUGGESTIONS ====================================== - tooltips not showing unless you move the mouse pointer slightly while hovering over an item The tool tips are awful looking and the font is just plain bad. Also I'm getting some kinda bug occasionally where I'll
Yeah, had this bug 3 or 4 times already. Save and reload fixes this and some other odd bugs you'll run into.
Curttasker, I agree with most of the issues you point out. Thanks for saving me some typing. ANNOYANCES and SUGGESTIONS ====================================== - tooltips not showing unless you move the mouse pointer slightly while hovering over an item The tool tips are awful looking and hard to read. - Sliders are very hard to use. There is only one slider feature I use a lot currently.
KCanute the "feature" your describing isn't really related to Sentry or Guard. However, I know exactly what your describing. Trying to work with stacks of fleets and ships together gets real irritating. I've figured out how to work around this part of the user interface but it also sometimes seems buggy.
I'm finding the Sentry and Guard commands not very useful. Most of the time a ship will only stay in either state for one turn. Next turn I'm right back to telling my radar picket scout to go into sentry. Looking in the manual. • Sentry: Orders a ship to remain idle until another ship, friendly or enemy, comes near. • Guard: Commands the ship to sit idle until an enemy ship comes near. My suggestion is to have only an
I've been playing non-stop with the download. Taking a quick break. I understand the whole "we want the game box seen on a lot of store shelves" aspect. However, I'm wondering if this is really THAT relevant given the typical 4X game purchaser. I could be wrong but I'd think the 4X purchasers have broadband and occasionally read game reviews. <br/
After I alt-tab out and then try to come back, the game displays a black screen but with a working game cursor. Nothing seems to cure the black screen after the alt-tab. I'm forced to kill the app and use a save game. This isn't a terrible problem but is kinda irritating. I'd rather not run in windowed mode. Windows XP SP2 DirectX 9.0C GeForce 6800 GT, drivers 81.98 Athlon, 1Gb memory
Playing it now. woohoo.
