Aldar
What they said :) I am personally in the middle of a very enjoyable 1.04 game. Have always viewed the 'trade' goods more in terms of the benefits they provide rather than as a source of income.
Will it be safe to update to 1.04.59 in the middle of a 1.04.58 game? I downloaded .058 yesterday and started a game that is pretty interesting. Space Zoo popped up early and went to my neighbors the Altarians. So I rapidly researched my way to Dreadnaughts (got there before any of the AIs). Paid a lot of tribute to just about everyone to keep the peace, but the Torians are becoming a little too pushy. We have comparable size militaries. I think they are mad at me because I keep

is anyone else having trouble connecting to SDC?
What better reason to join an empire than to help me? LOL Join the Kingdom of Aldar. I'm currently raising money to buy an air craft carrier so that I can scare Iceland into making me their Prime Minister.
Starbase Governors
Dreadnaughts will kill the monsters. Last game I got stuck with the zoo. Immediately switched my priorities to research to Dreadnaught tech as fast as possible. When the monters got loose, it was pretty easy to kill them.
64 (no Mods, it hd been upgraded by the PreCurser event). Belonged to the Drengins. I *had* to take it from them.
1. Repair ship - it takes *forever* to repair a damaged Dreadnaught. 2. A way to select a technology 'further along' and automatically sequence researching the prerequisites (a la Civ III) 3. Auto-explore for scouts 4. Show known alien starbase locations on the minimap. 5. Spy ships - can send to a specific system to destabilize it. And now my unsolicited 2 cents regarding the above requests. Features by committee do not necessarily make for a better game. You hav
RE: Post #50 C - all the rope you ever need to hang yourself with. :)
My system doesn't have that .pcx either and I have not installed any mods.
The only 'problem' with SDC that I have encountered is that there is no rollback. When I updated to .049, GC no longer would run without crashing my computer(looks like a pointing device problem). Had no way to get back to .042 which was running perfectly and lost 5 days until I accidently stumbled into the 'zone of working software' last night.
Stumbled into the 'zone of working software' last night. Plugged my USB mouse in and Gal Civ ran perfectly (until 2am - where does the time go????). My laptop has a Synaptics PS2 Port Touchpad - that seems to be part of the crashing problem.
I have not installed any of the mods.
It crashes at random points in the game. After I reboot, I can restart at the last saved point, it runs a while, and then locks up. It is an XP laptop with no sound card. There are no other applications running.
Yup. Both from the original download zip, the CD and tried updating using Stardock and the stand-alone patch. No matter what I do, the problem occurs after the software has been running for about 5 minutes. Behaves like galciv.exe is overwriting memory it shouldn't be and crashing XP.
Getting very frustrated. Updated to 1.02.049 last week using Stardock Central and now the game constantly crashes my computer. Ran fine before the update. Downloaded SmartException, the crash prevents it from logging anything. Happens irregardless of Autosave settings. Music keeps playing but system is froze - have to hold down the power button to reboot. Running Windows XP on a Pentium 4 w/ 256 MB of RAM - O/S and all drivers are up to date. Every copy of debug.err I have seen has ASSERT
Help!!!!!!! I updated to 1.02.049 on Friday using Stardock Central on Friday and have not been able to run the game since then. The game loads and will run for about 5 minutes and then it locks up my computer to the point that I have to reboot (Caps Lock doesn't even work). I downloaded and installed SmartException - it did not log anything. I have attached the debug.err file - I noticed that there are a couple of ASSERT errors in it. It locks up at different points according to the DEBUG fi
Help!!!!!!! Since I updated to 1.02.049 the game will not run without locking up my computer. Downloaded SmartException - it does not log anything. DEBUG.ERR has some ASSERT errors showing up (see below). Any ideas? ------------------------------- DEBUG.ERR: Debug Message: ******* Starting Game Shell ******* Debug Message: Going Fullscreen Debug Message: Preparing to change display settings. Debug Message: RGB in format 5:6:5, Masks reported as f800
I updated to the latest build on Friday and am unable to play the game for more than 5 minutes before it locks up my system. Windows XP Pentium 4 w/ 256 MB of RAM It looks like galciv.exe is overwriting something in memory that kills to O/S to the point that Caps Lock doesn't work. Happens at various points in the game - not consistently reproducable. This is bumming me out. Here are the contents of debug.err: Debug Message: ******* Starting Game Shell
Confirmation when killing a trade route (Accidently deleted one last night - grrr). And another vote for 'What would you offer for.." option on the trade screen to get things started for a negotiation.
