I was just looking at the Tech Tree and noticed a good tech called the Better Way. I have never seen this in the list of techs I can research and am wondering if it is because I have researched all the pre-requisites before my alignment changes... Any ideas?
Aldar
When I see a new minor appear I immediately deliver a welcome to the galaxy basket to them using a Combat Transport. They are so happy to meet me that they join my alliance LOL [Message Edited]
You should also add a link to www.galciv.com to the affiliates
Hopefully it won't be an either or situation for AP and GC2. How's that for a cryptic sentence?
One Miillllllion points
I would recommend updating to the latest version. Stardock has made a ton of improvements since version 1.2
Seeing some weirdness with auto-survey. Doesn't seem to always be able to automatically see anomolies.
I wish the game would leave the SBs visible (along with the resource) once you have seen them. Since the AI never builds terror stars...
I figured out what happened. I had turned on Cheat keys to figure out which one of 2 starbases the Arceans had was the influenece SB I wanted to trade for. Forgot that I had done that and kept playing. Wish I had put a point next to it whn I first saw it. Oh well.
Help!
Did you get the tutorial to work?
Any problems doing this? I just noticed I have both installed and am only playing AP these days.
You can dramatically reduce the amount of time a game takes if you: 1. Set autosave to something like every 10 turns. 2. Turn off ship animations 3. Use rally points for your planets and autolaunch ships 4. Use the Govenor's build queues (and turn off the GNN updates).
Set spending to 100% and adjust the tax rate until you have about 75% happy people. I typically will first set the sliders to 100% military to pop out a couple of colony ships with 150m people and colonize the closest 2 yellow planets. Next I switch to 100% research and research Communications, Universal Translator, Diplomacy, Medical Theory, and Basic Enivonment. I then start researching Advanced Diplomacy and switch the sliders to 100% social. Build banking on Earth and then switch
Absolutely the most valuable Trade Good are Diplomatic Trarnslators. After settling all the available planets, switch to 100% research and get Diplomacy as quick as possible. Research Med Theory and Environment Improvement. Trade for Tech (but keep Diplomacy. Build Soil, Banking, and then have your most productive planet build Diplomatic Translators. Never trade this advantage to any of the majors.
Aldar activates his Galactic Soapbox: This is an issue between Renegade and Stardock and Lothmorg and Stardock and we should all butt out and let them get to the bottom of it. Maybe a mod they were using broke the map generation. Maybe they were cheating. Maybe their version had some submission wonkiness. All the hand wringing in the world is not going affect this. What it may do is scare new people away and that would be a shame. Hopefully this situation will never occur
Ooooo! I will have to try it out.
I have to agree that the game is more 'fun' for me on Crippling. The problem is those games don't score very well, so I don't submit them and if you look at my game history, it appears that all I play is Maso. If you want a challenge, try attacking the aliens as soon as you meet them on Maso... [Message Edited]
The Altarians declared war on the Alexians. Just before their warships arrived at the Alexians last planet, I invaded and captured the planet. I parked a Corvette and a Star Fighter on the planet. My relations with the Altarians were either Warm or Friendly (I'm not sure which). The next turn the Altarians attacked my planet without provocation. I'm not sure if this is a bug, but I'm guessing they still thought it was an Alexian planet. I think I may still have a save gam
Survey ship would not automatically fly to anomolies. By the way, that first word in my other post should be Thanks.
That you for fixing the Auto-Survey bug!
More info on Auto-Survey problem. It seems like it will only auto-survey to anomolies that are visible when you start the game.
My 2 cents: Between the empires having their own forums and moving the empire threads to their own forum things have becme some what fragmented...
Auto-survey is still ignoring anomolies.
Switching trade routes over to the Yor might have helped swing them from Friendly to Close. Trade routes are a very powerful tool in the Alliance game.
