It's one of those crappy things that deactivate your right mouse cursor - if you are left handed, it means you can't click anything.

Well, GalCiv is a LOT like MOO2 - and a lot like what many people hoped MOO3 would be.
You should seriously consider removing all the Java crap on that page. When I clicked the link and got half a dozen warnings that your website tried to deactivate my mouse curser and various other browser functions, I instantly clicked the magic X :/
Moral is definitly broken - with the newest patch it seems far too easy, before that it seemed to be a steady downward spiral - either stay at exactly 50% approval (and be subject to IL, uprises and losing elections), or suffer from planets growing and growing and growing until moral finally drops deep enough to be a problem. There definitly needs to be a way to limit population growth! Another very annoying thing is conquering planets - even worse if you do it via influence and thereby
I had constructors at a speed of 21 once :)
Bump.
GalCiv is what me and alot of others really consider MOO3 - however, exactly the parts you mentioned have been removed (no custom ship designs & no real animated combat). Aside from that however, it's a very great game. MOO3 has both, however it is VERY different from MOO2, it is ridiculed with an insane amount of bugs, and the produces don't seem to care at all about their customers, so I would highly discourage spending money on it.
My favourite passage was: "anyone who passes this baby over will feel like those who missed System Shock or Master of Magic. Certainly these aren’t perfect games, but they are ground-breaking and will doubtless influence the games of the future." Yeah baby!
Of course I'm speaking about the various overpowered random events. I would strongly vote for an option to turn these off on a per game basis, as I think it's simply not fun having events that are for the most part random completely turn around a game. I'm playing this game for the strategy part, not because I admire the random number generator :) I would assume such an option would be easy to include, and wouldn't influence the gameplay experience of people who like random events at al
73% if he's late enough in the game to have Excaliburs :)
Phaedyme, while I agree with your point, your forced use of "fancy words" seems a little childish :)
Actually, I doubt something like this would get deleted here. I haven't seen any censoring of negative opinions here yet - because this game doesn't need it.
It's prolly just a text file with a valid serial (which, of course, won't work on stardock).
Seeing as there is no such thing as a Ford Hoovercraft, and the entire article was a persiflage, it's impossible that "part of it are lies" - technically, the entire article was made up. Also, making jokes and attacking and insulting people are two way different things. Like, Ezekiel posted a joke, that was funny. You called all of us "stupid", that was an insult, and not funny.
While I agree that MOO3 is apeshit, and GalCiv is da bomb, I can't follow you on what you say about IG. RCT1 & 2 were awesome games, and if I had to decide between GalCiv and RCT2 today (although they are a much different genre) I would side with RCT2, mostly because it doesn't have that much bugs (or rather, doesn't have any game breaking bugs at all) and much less balance issue.
One fix for sure would be to limit starbase numbers to colonized systems and ressources in a sector. So if you have two systems and one ressource in a sector, this sector could hold at most three star bases - not too overpowering. It would also stop you from building hundreds of starbases in trade lanes, which don't seem to have any upper limit on how much they can be improved by starbase addons. And let's be honest here, in the lategame its no problem at all pumping out a few hundred c
The thing with alignment is that the change is dependant of how much planets you colonize (the other choices are way too seldom). So in tiny galaxies its pretty much impossible to get good or evil (unless you cheat by colonizing sub 15 planets and destroying them again, just to get more choices). Also, I think "neutral" choices should make you tingle back to neutral - because in big galaxies, you can become "good" and never take any disadvantages - just select neutral all the time excep
You can also use this to buy enemy starbases as I just noticed - exchange them for the planet, wait for the planet to come back, rinse, repeat - I played a giant map and made the CPUs sell me ALL ressource spots :p I had like +500% to military lol.
I found it more or less by accident, or rather, it turned out to be cheese by accident. I was in war trouble, so I had to give up a planet for the first time - I picked my worst and surprisingly, the AI that was about to conquer half my empire accepted my peace offer with the planet. However, I had taken that planet a while ago with influence starbases, so naturally, it reverted back to me a few turns later. Next time war came up I did the same thing, remembering how good it worked, and in fact
...don't know if thats been posted before. Take a sector with 1-3 shitty planets in it, then build 10+ starbases in there with nothing but cultural influence modules on them. Whenever someone declares war on you now, just give them one of the planets the next turn, and they will always make peace, and the planet will be yurs again in a handful of turns. Repeat as long as you want - you'll never need any kind of defense or pay any attention to political relations. Just "pop a planet" whe
"Starbases" are a startrek reference now ? What's next ? Space travel as such copyrighted by Starwars ?
Ok, I got 50,000bc's now, a fully upgraded starbase, and 15 stacked constructors. THERE IS NO OPTION ANYMORE AND ITS NOT A TERROR STAR =[ So what am I doing wrong ? Only remaining tech is "Final Frontier".
I'm lazy, so I just set my techs to "order by cost" and always researched the top thing until nothing but 4D philosophy and something else was left :)
Ah, good to know, I never have more then 100 or so BCs. And are you certain about the techs ? I only got two left, and they have names that really sound very final.
Having 10 starbases with 503% cultural influence each near the enemy sector, I was waiting for Terror Star technology to move them over to convince those aliens to join my cause. However, I've researched EVERYTHING besides the 4D stuff yet (because I suspect that I'll just win the game if I do), and there seems to be no way to build terror stars. I'm not good (no white interface), and when the UP voted on outlawing terror stars, it was voted off.
