Oooh, so thats why. Darn i must get "better" at those saving throws
This is great news and it does sound very interesting. :CONGRAT: I think Ray's concerns about the intelligence of the AI are spot on (Allthough i'm confident Stardock will succeed). My own personal dreams would be a development of AI intelligence.
Everything opens fine, but my mouse pointer disappears. I'm running windows XP, Proffesional, SP1 on a laptop, the display Sis 650 (standard MS driver)

Something strikes me about this discussion. It seems the problem lies how to control the campaigning. I see 2 problems that caused the first one: 1)Education of voters. I think the problem lies in educating the voters. I believe this is about starting with the kids, school shouldn't be solely focused on teaching kids "facts". In my opinion it is equally (if not more) important to teach kids to be critical towards the informa
Honestly, i think never-never is a perfect pirate name, as in never-never island ....or something like that. But then again Alex, does have a point ;p
First off I know all of the picks have there uses but does Courage do anything? What about Creative or Lucky?
I have no idea, you would probably need some of RB-players for this one.
I am also curious as to what the Alien Tech victory means.
It means that once one of the AI's have reached "Final frontier"-tech you can't win by tech-victory (please correct me if i'm wrong). Warning, this is the victory type, that scores the lowest on the metaverse, but its still fun to play for. I would go for rare/huge. Starting picks: Populist party. +1 speed, +? diplomacy and +? trade. The speed is needed because it will give you an advantage in the planet race, and it will make your freighters reach their target faster (when creating the trade route). The diplomacy bonuses are needed because, i would want to keep the AI's to war against each other (to
Thanks for replying CariElf.
This is from the SD announcment
The Political Machine is scheduled to be released in June 2004 at most retail outlets. Stardock will be starting a public beta of the game starting April 8th via its Drengin.net (www.drengin.net) gaming network. Just a thought: Assumptions: no more than +5% PQ starting picks has been chosen On a PQ 15 planet, building soil will bring you from from 15 to 16/17, building habitat after that will bring the planet to 18/19. According to my observations this should (no matter what pop you have on the planet) give you an additional 2 income and a morale boost of +15% (not 1.2/1.49 data). Since a bank has the maintenance cost of 2 and it gives you a boost to income of 20% you would need a
Citizen Primus Ordines Aaberg, as a UK citizen, you can apparently only risk buying the game online, with all the hazards that implies, or make out an expensive purchase order in dollars to buy it mail order from America! The moral for UK citizens appears to be obvious, my friend. We are second class citizens for American games. Properly marketed, the GalCiv expansion pack should have been obtainable and would have been bought by me in my local shop or at least by mail order in the UK, as
I don't have much experience on smaller maps (where you meet the AI early), but on larger maps (large and upwards) my favorite strategy for avoiding wars is simply to bribe the AI's of to war against each other. I'm sure there is more advise out there...anybody ...?
Hi Christopher, In the thread below, you should be able to find directions on how to buy the game using checks/cash http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&id=151483#152151
Evil civs don't care about your alignment
This is not completly true. If you play a game as pure good, you will see your relations with Evil AI's drop as your morality rises. I agree though that being Evil, doesn't mean that the Evil AI's will naturaly like you (as it is the case for good aligment and good aligned AI's)
I'm not sure how the
We also accept checks or money orders in US funds
is to be understood, but it could mean a check in USD. In other words you can get your bank to issue a check in USD (from your account). They will most likely charge a fee for issueing the check.
I don't know if this helps (from the Stardock-store FAQ)
Q: I don’t have a credit card. How can I purchase Stardock software? A: We also accept checks or money orders in US funds (no Eurocheques, please, as they are not certified funds). Please print and use the order form at http://www.stardock.com/order.txt (also found in the directories of Stardock’s shareware products) and mail with payment to: Stardock Systems, Inc. 17292 Farmington Rd. Livonia,
I have realized that the main reason i don't see a problem in the higher cost of cultural starbases is probably, because i allways chase (and trade for) all the influence ressources i can get my hands on (on huge 3-5). Maxing this ressources out normally gives ne a cultural boost, that makes me 2-3 times stronger (in influence) than the AI's.
I don't know for sure, but... the to get a cultural victory you don't have to flip the AI's planets. Even if you aren't able to get a large cultural margin in the AI's most heavyli populated sectors, one should still be able to win a cultural victory. It looks as if the changes were meant to avoid massive flipping of the AI's planets, to get a military victory (i have used this alot myself - in earlier versions, that is) [Message Edited]
I would like to have more types of government in the game with more negative and positive aspects like reduced or increased maintainace for military, builings, more or less war weary (xenophobe?), more or less diplomatic.
You might be able to find some of these in the mod library http://www.galciv.com/library.asp i believe they are under "misc"
Robert Viener and Kevin the Kitten, when you click campaign on the main menu there should be a small "reset" button in the lower right hand corner, this will allow you to load autosave and in game saves (campaign save games have their own save-game folder)
