Still trying to figure this out in Galactic Civilizations I Stardock Forums

I have not been able to submit games. I have one submission but it gives me a score of zero. It says my game is anomolous. I have not used any mods or cheats. I thought maybe there was a problem with my specific game so I started a new one and played a few turns. I then retired and saw my score as 36. I thought everything would be ok and played the rest of the game. This game was tiny/uncommon/all AI's at Intelligent. I won with an allied victory.<br

Ok, I have not done either of those things. I will try to re-submit and see if it works. I couldn't figure out what the heck the problem was.

I am not a raving lunatic but maybe someone could help me too. I have tried to submit several games and only one shows up when you click on my name. If you look at the stats, there is something weird there and my score is zero. Any ideas what the problem could be? [Message Edited]

Ah, that would explain alot. All of my games except one have given a score of zero. I have been playing tiny size, tough difficulty, uncommon planets. I thought I should atleast score one point for that win.

I just use the straight up game. Nothing from the library, no cheats or anything like that. This is weird. I have galciv on my pc and also on a laptop. I have tried to submit from both computers. Could this be causing the problems?

ok, I have checked everything and still I cannot submit a game. I think it is weird though that it now shows me as chaotic evil. Could it rank me like that unless I had submitted a game for it to base the alignment on? Any thoughts?

I have tried to submit my game to the Metaverse 3 times and it says that it was submitted. When I come here though, it shows that I have submitted none. What am I doing wrong? I use the same name that I do on here and use the email address that I used to register the game. Any ideas?

I played a game yesterday where the space shark was coming towards Sol. Directly below my system was a system owned by minor race. The shark stopped at the minor race system and was stuck there the rest of the game. I saw ships go past it all game and it never moved. It was like the shark had tried to enter the system and got stuck somehow. Weird...

I had gotten away from playing Galciv but came back with the expansion. I played 4 games on cakewalk/simple and the space shark showed up in all of them!! Has this happened to anyone else or is this just a bad run of luck? I tried to lure him away but he would not leave. He would go only so far away and then come back again.

It is a good idea to have a system where once you submit so many games or get a certain metaverse, it takes you to next difficulty level. This would curb the interest of high level players coming back to easy difficulty as they could not stay there for long. I think this is something to be considered.

True, I just think that there would be more metaverse participation if there were other ranking options depending on you difficulty level. Oh well, it was just a thought.

Yeah, I know, but the dream is over. If a high level player comes in that screws all the low level players just starting and you have the same problem as we do now with the current set up.

You got me. I hadn't thought of that. I would guess the only thing to stop that from happening would be the boredom of playing a cakewalk game when you are used to playing a much higher level of difficulty. I guess it is better to leave things the way they are.

I am not saying that you still wouldn't have one player better than another, I am saying that the guy just taking this game out of the box is much more likely to submit his score if he feels he has a chance of being ranked. It is highly unlikely that a brand new player can compete on maso difficulty.

Why not have a different ranking list for each difficulty level. That way it doesn't matter whether you are new to the game or a seasoned veteran. I think that some new players are king of scared away from ever submitting a game to the metaverse because they see how far behind some players they are. If they had a separate ranking on the lower difficulty levels it would give them a place to go where they would be competetive.
