I have the issue as well, on dual monitors. You can see part of the image on the left monitor appearing on the right. When the left image changes, it leaves a ghost on Fences on the right monitor, and vice versa. Moreover, if a Fence is set to 0% opacity, it shows the ghost image of the other screen's image only on mouseover. I've deleted the image from this so it doesn't spam out other people. It can be found below
I popped open SDCentral this evening to see if there were any updates, and was informed that it could not validate my registration information. So I opened the registration box to see what was causing the problem. It said that my "Games Subscription" didn't have a valid registration number attached to it, so i opened up my old email to re-enter the number. It wouldn't take (said that "the Serial Number you have entered is invalid."). So i clicked on the Lookup serial number button an
The driver irq not being equal is the exact same trouble I was having.updating my sound drivers fixed it....does your board have a c-media CMI-9739A chip in it?if it does goto C-Media's website for the newest driver
Yes, and no. My board has the chip, but I've got the soundcard portion of my board turned off. I do, however, have the Hercules Muse Gamesurround DVD 5.1 sound card, and was finally able to get driver updates for it. The odd thing is, none of the flavours
Between 80 and 90% of the time when I try to start up a game, I get a BSOD after the scrollbar finishes its trek to 100%. This crash can occur either at the beginning or the end of the animation. The particular BSOC error message I get is DRIVER_IRQ_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL For information, I'm of Win2k SP4, if that helps (I'm trying to avoid reinstalling Win2k if I can at all help it, although I might go to WinXP Pro if need be). ~SDC~
The are currently 2 problems with GalCiv and trying to install it through SDC. To install the game normally (not archiving it) go into the SDC settings and untick the option to "Prompt to enter an installation directory" under the Installation heading. This option is what is causing SDC to crash. Select OK and go ahead and install the game as normally and everything should now be fine. The second problem is the archiving option, do not use this option at all as the archving name currently
I am proudly part of the CSF. But since I've gone from working 3 days a week to 4, and have picked up a Friday night Role Playing Group (Mage: The ascension one week, Chivalry and Sorcery the next), I've got less time for playing. :) ~SDC~
I just completed a game in which I ringed an opponent's home sector with star bases inside his boundaries, then started making the bases into culture bases (not Culture Terror Stars). His 3 systems in that sector started flipping to me every turn, so I kept giving them back to him through diplomacy. Culture stacking can get quite insane, quite fast. If there was a way to post a screenshot, you could see that I've got him out-cultured 53,785,224 to 8,944. And I was nowhere near maxxed

After upgraqding to 1.09[b].001 I find that I am unable to get any scores submitted to the metaverse to show. It may be because I'm playing it on a different computer (went to visit my parents for a week), but both my Dregin.net and GalCiv serial numbers seem to work perfectly fine for everything else. I'll try upgrading and resubmitting when I get home over the weekend, just to see if it is the computer I submit from that has any real bearing. :) ~SDC~

Don't know if it's been mentioned before, but I would REALLY like to see a way to move ships as a fleet. I just had a late game (August 2208) Precursor Corvette event, and now I have a stack of 100 (Yes, One Hundred) Corvettes to deal with. I'll perobably have to set them to guard, because I don't think they can all fit into Star System they were found in (which is odd in and of itself. :) ~SDC~ [Message Edited]
Version 1.05.71, Windowed mode Due to an increasing defect in my monitor, I'm losing the top 10 - 15% of my screen (the lines there are going all screwy, like a really bad vertical adjust, and any graphic in that area gets split into multiple lines), so I tried to play GalCiv in windowed mode. Starts up ok, but CTDs when i click on the "Close" button on the first message window (before you even get to set any techs). Stardock SmartException Logging Information ------------
Isn't there an easier way to recover those lost files than a full uninstall/reinstall? And will this actually fix the governor problem? No one seems to have specifically addressed that.
I don't know about recovering lost files, but if you have the game installed, you can download the 1.04 stand alone patch and use it to downgrade to that stable version. Not perfect, but it at least lets you play in the meantime. ~SDC~
I've found what seems to be a playable workaround for that. You can go and get the downloadable standalone patch to version 1.04.059, and then run the updating program. I haven't tried running the program, but StarDock Central is now telling me that I need to upgrade to 1.04.068. :) ~SDC~
I've got 1.05.068, but I've also bugreported a serious bug in it's governor routine. ~SDC~
Error in 1.05.068: When I go into my governor's screen at the start of game and double click on "Soil Improvement" to add it to the top of the build queue, I CTD. The Only thing I've done in game before this was to modify my spending allocations. Could it be that since I had allocated 0% of my spending to social improvments it choked?
by Citizen kiteMaster - 6/8/2003 11:49:53 AM Hi there, I recently upgraded my system and now have a nice 1280x1024 resolution of a flatscreen tft. However, when I try to run galciv the monitor gets out of range. I tried to run in windowed mode, but putting -W after the command didn't run the game windowed, still full screen. Running version 1.04. Can I change the start-up resolution of galciv? Any help appreciated. Ciao, Wim
If you logon via Stardock Central, you'll see (
Blithely going along, I hit a CTD. I don't know what's wrong, and I'm fairly sure that I still have the autosave set for the default 12 game turn save ratio. Since I had Cultural victory turned off, it may have been that the game was scoring my planetary "conquests' as if they were Military takeovers. :) I wound up with a score of 46712 MetaPoints. I'm going to try this again over the weekend and see if it continues to happen. If it does. I may well wind up in the
Don't know if it's been mentioned or not (too many messages to scroll through), but being able to take disadvantages in order to buy more advantages would really help. I tried to edit the English.str file to introduce a -10% modification on planet quality (Heavy Polluters), that would give a -10 point bones, but when I ran the game all it gave me for values there was 0 and 0. Also, having scroll bars in the abilities section would be nice for when you've got more than 4 levels
Re #245 by DMF If you double click on the planet in the planets list, it'll take you to that particular planet's display, and you should be able to launch the ships from there. And the planet list will stay there on the screen. ~SDC~
Personally, I use DSL and am quite happy with it. I've currently got a 2528k/864k link for $45CAN/month. But I don't need that much speed, so I'm dropping it back to 1500k/640k for $35CAN/month. On that I get 2 IP addresses (cable in this area only gets one), 25Mb of web space, and 25Mb of email space (and for some reason, they don't include attachments when calculating space allotments). I tried to send an 8Mb file to a friend with cable and, even though his email account wa
