I played a second game of the demo today and made the following observations: 1. I was selecting a Technology to research next when the 'Breaking News' window appeared on top of the Galactic Map (completely closing the Research screen). This was a bit disconcerting. 2. Later, I was on the planet screen trying to build a screen when this screen was closed so the game could display the question, "Do you wish to upgrade this StarBase

Demo looks good. But there were a number of interface glitches that are keeping me from buying the game. 1. I'll press 'End Turn' but nothing will happen. There is no indication of ANYTHING happening. I'll walk away from the computer for an hour, and the game will still be in this state. Finally, I'll click around on my own units and such, and the game will 'Wake up' and then do something. 2. I will be trying to design a ship. I w

I think I would strongly disagree with the words "serious issues out of the box". I bought the game on the release date and already feel like I've gotten my money's worth out of it. Civ IV really is a HUGE advance over the previous three games. I just can't tell you how much fun I'm having with it. Yes, I will admit that it has some minor problems. But it is quite playable if you are willing to invest a little bit of money in a current generation gaming rig. My computer at home has on

*sigh* Well... Gal Civ 2 looks really cool. But I'm in need of some sort of computer entertainment RIGHT NOW and not some number of indeterminate months in the future. I just sent Stardock the following email: --- Please cancel this transaction. When I placed the order, the website said I would be able to download the game immediately. Since that does not appear to be the case, I view Stardock in breach of contract. If Stardock later decides to bill my credit card, I will dispute

It will likely be longer than two months. I've heard that Beta 4 won't be open to the public. Instead, only those folks already Beta testing will get access to that one. Did you notice how Yarlen said they wouldn't charge pre-orders again until -> AT LEAST I think he's hedging his bet and avoiding letting you know that what you really signed up for was to Pre-Order only the final product when it is released.

IMHO, Space Empires IV was designed first and foremost to be a great human vs. human game. As such, it succeeded on a huge level. I'm assuming Space Empires V will be the same way. If SE IV had been written with one-tenth the AI of GalCiv, I think I would have preferred SEIV. There are just so many options available. It really is a great game for Play by Email. Unfortunately, play be email assumes that you can set aside a certain amount of time every day... for the rest of your life. M

I pre-ordered the game as well--on Friday. The email I got said that my credit card hadn't yet been charged and that I would receive an email once something was available. I'm assuming there isn't any linkage between the sales process and the website. In other words, sometime next week, someone from StarDock will have to go see that I've provided all my payment information and such so that they can then do some stuff to make it possible to download the game from some site.

I have Gal Civ 1.13.080 and BonusPack 1.0.010 and am researching the final tech. Currently, I can only build these ships: Battle Cruiser Battle Hammer Battleaxe Colony Ship Combat Transport Constructor Corvette Death Knight Defender Excalibur Freighter Frigate Scout Sensor Drone Star Fighter Star Hawk Survey Ship Transport I looked and I appear to have all the correct data files. It looks like I'm missing the

Keep asking for 'Find Planet' functionality. Hopefully, StarDock will hear our pleas and eventually add it.
In any case it shouldn't be too hard to find the planet if you just look at each of the systems of race XXXX, eventually you'll find planet YYYY (it should be easy to spot, it'll be big and purple if it's PQ 28+ or so).
Funny. Very funny. :(

There are over 100,000 posts about SEIV on the game publisher's website. Checkout: http://www.shrapnelgames.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum;f=23 The FAQ is the very first thread: http://www.shrapnelgames.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=23;t=005518 Hope that helps.

While watching your rank in the MetaVerse plummet ever downward as you submit scores that are worth about 20% or less, please remember that the primary purpose of the MetaVerse is to help StarDock improve the AI. At least, that is what I keep telling myself... :)

I mainly just name my starbases--e.g. Prod x-y or Influ x-y, etc. I hadn't thought about naming my planets. That's a pretty good idea. :) In this particular case, I needed the ability to find a system that was *previously* mine but which the Torian had just captured. In this case, the planetary list wouldn't have helped. Speaking of the Planet List, does anyone else find it to be a real pain to have to hit the previous or next button a dozen times to cycle between sorting by na

When I was asked where I wanted to move some ships, I just pressed the spacebar. Then, after the game had cycled through all the ships, I went back to move those ships. But they showed no movement remaining? Is that a bug? Since I didn't move them, shouldn't they still have their full movement remaining? Thanks.

At the end of my last game, the Society Tab only showed me having 20 colonies. I tried giving away and/or destroying colonies, and the number did not change. I went ahead and pressed 'End Turn'. Still, the number did not change. Finally, I gave away all my systems but Sol. Still, the number did not change. If you destroy a colony and then access Domestic Policy, the game crashes to the desktop.

With one turn remaining on a Tech Victory, I had 30-40 colonies and a population of 1800 Billion. So, I gave away all my systems but Sol and kept researching along. When I won the game a few months later, my MetaVerse points were the same (+/- a point or two) of my score with 40 planets and a population of 1800 Billion. I assume/know the game is averaging out income/population for the entire game. So, my final number of planets, population, tax, etc doesn't really impact the game as muc
