Found out that there are 3 Singaporean game developers who have just started their business 2-3 years ago. They admitted as much that they are struggling with funding and manpower problems. Only 1 of them have managed to release a game commercially so far. I really don't see them having much of a chance.
2-3 years to develop a game doesn't look like much if they start from scratch. Consider that Galciv seems to have been very well managed (released on schedule) and they h

When you score points at a given difficulty it says XXXpoints (YYY Mpoints). The latter is the points you'd get in the metaverse. How they are added is another matter, as your score is sum of scores divided by square root of number of sumissions, with decay of old scores every month.
One the one side it makes sense that Alliance victories get less score because they are easy to achieve...
Once you're allied with everyone it's currently cakewalk to backstab them all and get a military victory. Therefore, a military victory is easier than an alliance one since you can automatically get a military victory when in allied state (build terror stars near every of your allies door and go kaboom in one turn). Plus you can win even if you can't get allied with anyo
You could create multiple copies of the mods folder with your variations and just rename the different folders so that you aren't manually moving files.
That's manually moving the folders, Cari ;). Anyway, the ability to replace file is great news. Thanks!
Why would you want to take over the planets of your Allies?
Because they want to rack up more points in the metaverse, thus go for military victory. Game-wise, it makes sense too, if your ally is too weak and you'd rather ally with his enemy. Get rid of ally1, help another civ to destroy them, and ally with that new civ. It is currently possible, but shouldn't because if you do this, then you should be branded as untrustworthy.
How much did a Drengin.net subscription cost? 30$, right?
I think so, yes. I'll take that too btw. What I'm interested in, is the list of triggers they propose, and in knowing what kind of scripting language we can use to react to them, mostly in terms of what can we do in reaction to what events? I guess that 'star system in sensor range' may not exist, but since you meet ai's when you get them into sensor range, surely sensors can trigger something... T

If I read you well in another thread, the most important thing is: If you want to replace a file by another one, it will take the mod folder file in preference to the other file. Am I right? And thus the next question is: How do I swap mods? Are there subfolders in the mod folders so I can pick which mods I want and which I don't? (You can check Ctp2's modswapper and modmaker programs on apolyton ctp2 section for a neat user interface and what I mean). So can I have -regular galc

I'm a bit fearful of the multi-game part. I usually don't like the 'and now a harder map' thing. To me a scenario is a map with specific events and mods. So my question is: How do triggers work? What kind of tirggers will be availabel for mod makers? Will it be possible to pack together map, scenario and mods so that this be a whole (like I change the whole tech tree, the map, put some events, and call this a scenario)? Is it possible in particular to trigger an event when planet/system

About gaming communities, look at a site like http://apolyton.net. I'm not sure how much DanQ and Markos get out of it, but the site is apparently enough business for them to survive. This is a community site, whose main revenues come from links to amazon and such and referrals, plus ads and direct sales of junk(T-shirts, mugs...). They even explain somewhere how they do it, what the revenue breakdown is, etc. They could even charge people for accessing the site or some portions of it, and many
business unless you develop and run the MMORPG?
There is a big difference between developping it and running it. For instance, MMORPGs are mostly developped in the U.S but are sold/licensed abroad to companies to operate them in the national language. I do'nt know what language is used in Singapore, but if people's mother tongue is not English, you could probably get some business by contacting some successful existing MMORPG and proposing to make and run a translation. ILeague and Dmer have nothing to do with your being evil. ILeague have to do with morale (not moral). Fundies are linked to evil, though.
has anyone ever finialised the "final frontier" techno
Yes. Look for tech victories on the metaverse, you will find some. Though I'm probably the only one to have submitted such a victory after its points have been nerfed. Then try maso and read the maso strategies thread. Anyway, diplomacy and speed
Vincible.. if I was at work I'ld swear at you call you a manager.
Please no obscenities. ;) About following a program to win at maso: Following a program is a strategy, so you'd better follow some kind of program to win at any level in this game. There are several programs that can be followed, different strategies, and you may hop from one to another one, though it becomes harder at the higher difficulty levels. About the 'getting ai's to go to war with
The problem is there are all these useless stars -- they might as well vanish from the map once you discover there is nothing there!
A star with a PQ 1 planet is useful, since you can use the planet to extend your range or culture flip opponents. An empty star is just cosmetics that can lure your scouts out of the path. Supernova events like in MOO would be good, but they are a bit harsh. Losing your system if you can't fund enough is quite awful. There is such a

I never use terror stars myself, so I can't say it matters much to me, but the demonstration is well done. Either remove the terror stars or teach the ai to use them. Currently I only research the techs for the +10 influence they bring. I would say that the ai also totally misunderstands the power of AMMs. They are cheap and more effective than any ship (since you always want to be the attacker, it doesn't matter that your ship has 0 defense). Sirian's points are also correct, but th

There are two things happening at once. 1) The icons go red because you are evil (made several evil choices in the planet events and such). 2) The fundamentalist event popped up probably at the same time. They steal planets from evil empires.
I have always resisted playing the AI, rather than the game.Guess if you want to win at Maso, that is what you must do.
You don't have to. Make contact late with the majors, pay them when they ask for bribes, send freighters, don't waste money building any ship, turtle until you can build AMMs.
